um, I haven't been paying too much attention to the papers &c, but since when did we start this bad Pauline Hanson/Winston Peters replay? DON cockfarming BRASH is our preferred prime minister? o dear, the eighties revival has gone TOO FAR.

haha so I had to reorganise all the NZ non-fiction today, & it was weird seeing all the early-90s books on the whole Rogernomics/&c thing; The Unfortunate Experiment vs No Pain, No Gain FITE.

its looking pretty dismal, yeah. though its worth taking popularity polls with a grain of salt and a lot can happen between now and 2005. the thing that disturbs me most is that national have a pakeha as their spokesperson for maori affairs. THATS JUST SOOOOO FUCKING OFF!!! i saw him debate with john tamihere on kim hill, i couldn't believe some of the cliches he pulled out. "i'm not racist, i know some maoris, in fact, i have nephews and nieces who are maori". the defense of racists since the beginning of time.

i hate don brash. but as my flatmate pointed out - a decrease in popularity for labour might force them into coalition with the greens at the next election. i'm crossing my fingers.
