Fancy A Football Match (proper League football, just)?

I suspect there will be less interest than there was for Wimbledon, but my beloved Bristol Rovers make their one visit to London on Tuesday March 2nd, to play Leyton Orient in London's glamorous Leytonstone. It's a 7.45 kickoff, I believe. I plan to go for a quick snack after work then head out on the Central, but could go to Leyton earlier and eat there in the unlikely event of anyone else fancying going. I cannot promise top quality football - we were pretty good in this fixture last year, but the year before was a dismal game, and we are in very poor form at present.

It's all seating at Brisbane Road, so if it's a cold evening it will be very chilly.

Revive on the remote chance that someone fancies this tomorrow!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 1 March 2004 13:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Tiit, any chance you could just speak normal English occasionally?

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 1 March 2004 13:57 (twenty-two years ago)

cozen (Cozen), Monday, 1 March 2004 14:04 (twenty-two years ago)

cozen (Cozen), Monday, 1 March 2004 14:06 (twenty-two years ago)

So why does he speak in a mixture of 17th century English and Ned Raggett?

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 1 March 2004 14:09 (twenty-two years ago)

ned is actually half-latvian, which explains the similarity...

Revive (properly) because Bristol Rovers visit Orient once again on Saturday September 11th - I know it's a date that will live in infamy (it was my ex-wife's birthday) but it might be a good game anyway. Rovers have got off to a good start (two wins and a draw) and it's League Two now, as opposed to only the Third Division last year, so the football is bound to be better. Anyone fancy joining me?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 17 August 2004 21:26 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't think I can make it (can't remember exact dates I'll be in Holland right now) otherwise I quite fancy it this time as I do want to go to more games this season. Enjoy anyway!

Okay, Tim H is joining me for this, and probably Carsmile too, which should be a bit of extra incentive for anyone else tempted. We're meeting in the Birkbeck on Langthorne Road (http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=538794&y=186032&z=0&sv=E11+4HL&st=2&pc=E11+4HL&mapp=newmap.srf&searchp=newsearch.srf), at a time not yet specified, but since there is a Sky match on at, I think, 12.30, I'm tempted to get there early to watch that.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 9 September 2004 12:08 (twenty-one years ago)

's a good pub that apparently, I may make it down, but can't be certain yet.

Porkpie (porkpie), Thursday, 9 September 2004 12:11 (twenty-one years ago)

ha, and there was me thinking that with Exeter fans joining me, I wouldn't have to be too ashamed of the standard of football on show. A Liverpool fan may have a different perspective...

Tim reckons he'll be at the pub by 1pm, and I'll aim for the TV kickoff time, once I've checked when that is.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 9 September 2004 12:33 (twenty-one years ago)

As I said to you elsewhere Martin, I'd love to come but have something on that I can't get out of.

Come down the Mem for the return fixture!
