Following on from the Last Temptation of Christ thread. How would a film about the End Times be received?

REVELATION: The Movie! Industrial Light & Magic would have a field day!

I just want to tag "... throwing darts in lovers' eyes" at the end of the thread title.

Now I'm done.

I've just had a gruesome thought. What if someone tries to do 'Paradise Lost' as a big fantasy epic like LOTR, CGI angels demons and God.... the whole thing would be aimed at CS Lewis reading US Christians and thus be literally fauthful to Milton's religious message......i'm nauseous.

Well, if they kept it faithful to Milton, that would include showing Adam and Eve having sex in the Garden of Eden, which would to my mind be interesting for such an intended audience.

Ah but that would be okay because it's Adam and Eve having sex, the first untainted, unaware (of the filthy sinfulness of sex) couple, the fundamentalists would smile in contentment and praise a sex scene back from the days when sex was good. Adam doesn't even have to wear a rubber cos Eve cant be impregnated.

must've been good being Adam. No navel so no navel lint.

My serious answer is that you can't make a movie from Revelation alone, you have to read tons in -- which usually gives us Left Behind and The Late Great Planet Earth and the other bottomfeeder muck like that. It might be interesting to see a movie done that doesn't do that and doesn't concern itself with plot, just enacts some old interpretation of the book -- Newton's, maybe, or one of the early ones responsible for getting it canonized to begin with, etc.

(That said, the novel I'm working on is about it, too. So nyah nyah, Lahaye.)

Can I star as a lackadaisical prophet who helps mankind to a state of constant partying?

You should check "9 Nine Lives of Thomas Katz", even though the end-times saviour in that flick is the "white astral baby of life", instead of boring ol' Jesus.

Um, "The Rapture" to thread?

I always kinda hoped that in the last episode Buffy would stake Satan and, ta-da, instant Rapture!
