Does anyone, apart from students and NME readers find Bo Selecta funny?

Inspired by Avid Merrion's 'hilarious' performance at the Brits.

Billy Dods (Billy Dods), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 15:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I want him destroyed.

chris (chris), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 15:59 (twenty-two years ago)

I want him publicly beaten, then destroyed.

M Carty (mj_c), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 16:03 (twenty-two years ago)

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 16:03 (twenty-two years ago)

RTG (RTG), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 16:11 (twenty-two years ago)

The Jacko, Blaine and Craig David spoofs - mostly v funny. All others - not.

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 16:22 (twenty-two years ago)

I like(d) the Bear.

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 16:24 (twenty-two years ago)

I like the Craig David stuff for it's absurdity, and the Bear is peurile enough to amuse me.

The rest is unmitigated shite.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 16:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Some of the younger lads who work for me seem to like him. Personally I've never really seen the point.

Matt (Matt), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 17:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Some of my colleagues like him.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 17:19 (twenty-two years ago)

I think I posted a "My god what is this shit" thread to ILE roughly seven minutes into the first episode of Bo Selecta.

Easily one of the worst TV shows to have gone to a second series in the past ten years. Possibly not as bad as Ker-Ching, though. Did Girls In Love make it to a second series, or was it just a series with about seven hundred episodes?

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 17:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Some of it's okayish.

mei (mei), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 20:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Not funny. At all. Mind you I also hate Ali G and Harry Hill so am obviously directly opposite the Great British Public in terms of what is found to be funny.

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 24 February 2004 20:09 (twenty-two years ago)

thought it was awful at first, but i've grown to like some of it...
the victoria beckham mask is great,as is the way she oinks
the david blaine impression is spot on as well

robin (robin), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 17:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Dom, why exactly are watching kids' shows which are only available on digital? You have waaaaay too much time on your hands. (Although based on trailers Ker-Ching does look detestable.)

Nick H (Nick H), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 20:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Ker-Ching and Girls In Love are both on terrestial TV, Nick!

I have an addiction to bad TV. I mean, you're talking to someone that's seen nearly every episode of Turn On Terry.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 20:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Every episode of Ker-Ching:

Main character: Man, I is got dis wikkid idea to make me money, innit?
White guy: Err, what is it?
Main character: AAaaaaaah, you is a muppet innit?

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 20:43 (twenty-two years ago)

'I mean, you're talking to someone that's seen nearly every episode of Turn On Terry.'

That's some kind of dirty admission. Do you also watch 'Dare To Believe'?

pete s, Wednesday, 25 February 2004 20:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Yep. And I've also seen Shoot The Writers, which was the worst TV show of 2003 by far.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 20:46 (twenty-two years ago)

piss

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 20:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes, I like it when he says 'Sex Wee'

Andrew L (Andrew L), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 21:40 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought Ker-Ching was only on the CBBC Channel. My mistake I guess. The 5 minutes of Turn On Terry I caught looked abysmal. I await the new baseball season eagerly so there's something to watch in the early hours.

Nick H (Nick H), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 23:41 (twenty-two years ago)

well i think he is funny

Emma williams (Emma williams), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 23:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Actually, whilst we're (not) on the subject, can we discuss Girls In Love?

Firstly, Jacqueline Wilson is apparently the most impersonated celebrity on the net by paedophiles grooming young children.

Secondly, worst typecasting ever. One of them's black, so she's got da sass and da urban intuition and listens to nothing but Mis-Teeq. The Goth one has ISSUES and PROBLEMS and listens to such alternative Goth classic acts as Turin Breaks and Elbow. And then there's the main character, who has no distinguishing features. Each episode: they meet up, discover they have problems, solve problems, eat ice cream, and then main character pontificates on what its like having a dead mother. Absolutely fucking rot.
