So, can anyone reach google.com right now? I am getting timeouts, argh.
Anyone know of a website that uses google search results, like yahoo used to? (Ie, really the same search, but on a site that might be up right now...)

I feel a sad & empty void in my webbrowser without google. :-(

it's back!

it is probably something to do with your net connection, or net traffic in your area. i load google immediately.

yeah, but the weird thing is that yahoo loaded immediately. well, maybe yahoo is co-located somewhere that wasn't affected; i don't really know if both google & yahoo have their datacenters in CA.

Isn't Yahoo not using Google any more? Ironically, I'm just talking without having looked it up, so don't mind me.

Yeah, Yahoo only just stopped using google. That's why I said "a website that uses google search results, like yahoo used to" --> I think that it's still lisenced out to other companies, but I don't really know who those websites are off the top of my head.

regardless, google was crap for what i wanted anyway. I was looking for something more on the prescription I'm taking, and all google had was "free doctor-less prescriptions click here!!!! overnight shipping!!!" ad websites all over the results. so sad to see they're gaming it so well now. :-(

I think MS is putting google-eating worms into the local cables

MS is taking over the pacific northwest! arrgh, run for your lives!!!

Everyone will be using the Starbuck's search engine by 2007 anyway, so it's all futile.

Lyra, does Google always do that? My mother has some evil adware on her computer that causes the first page of Google results to be replaced by a bunch of ads like that.

Casuistry (Chris P), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 05:48 (twenty-two years ago)

that's spyware, and it's nothing to do with google - it just mimics the look of the google pages. try http://www.lavasoft.com/ or http://security.kolla.de/index.php?lang=en&page=news for software that will get rid of it.

I run Safari on a mac & have only downloaded a few unix tools to it, so I doubt it's spyware. If I search for anything else, it's fine, so I think it's just the "Fr33 Vi4gAH!!" spam folks taking on google as well.

one year passes...
Google.com isn't working for me right now. Anyone else having problems?

None.

If you're unsure where the problem is, try another site like google.com.au

I'm having problems with Gmail, but Google search seems to work.
