So my mom's childhood friend is the running with this Staples invention contest. His name is Russell Dion and he came up with this erasable plastic card material that can be written on with a pencil and erased. It's called Pencil Paper.

The voting goes until March 1 and the winner gets a production deal with Staples so...... please vote for him!

Russell Dion - Pencil Paper (not the other crap)

You must sell me. What's in it for us?

ModJ (ModJ), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 17:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Can't you write on paper Paper and erase it? Am I missing something?

dean! (deangulberry), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 17:28 (twenty-two years ago)

I was sorely tempted by Rubber Bandits, but held firm.

Matt (Matt), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 17:29 (twenty-two years ago)

And surely this already exists, plenty of maps are wither printed or or laminated in plastic that can be written on in pencil and then erased.

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 17:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Um.. When it becomes a popular device that everyone uses you can gloat to your friends, "I had something to do with that!"

(I told my mum I would help so here it is... and that should be IN the running)

Done.

No no! It's hard to describe. It's actually a good idea.

Imagine a business card or shopping list foldable card you can write down phone numbers or lists on.

Aaron W (Aaron W), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 17:30 (twenty-two years ago)

PEANUT EATER!!!!

dean! (deangulberry), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 17:30 (twenty-two years ago)

I'll vote for you if you vote for me.

dean! (deangulberry), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 17:31 (twenty-two years ago)

oh, you guys ruined my joke. dammit.

dean! (deangulberry), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 17:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I voted for it nonetheless , but it's merely a repackaging of an existing idea.

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 17:31 (twenty-two years ago)

He has a patent on it though.

I will weather the inevitable slights that come with this starting this thread, all in the name of er invention and science!

Aaron W (Aaron W), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 17:32 (twenty-two years ago)

(oh and mom said you can vote once a day heh)

Aaron W (Aaron W), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 17:33 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm not really slighting the invention, it's a good idea and it ought to succeed, I can think of 100 uses for it already, wouldn't have granted the patent though on prior art grounds.

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 17:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm surprised that the laser-guided paper cutter is winning. That was the one I thought was most unnecessary.

dave225 (Dave225), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 17:38 (twenty-two years ago)

but lasers are cool

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 17:39 (twenty-two years ago)

They're all good ideas, really. Unfortunately none of them seem capable of making my penis larger.

maypang (maypang), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 17:46 (twenty-two years ago)

I sense a Belle and Sebastian-style interweb menko vote-rigging scandalx0r!!

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 17:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Um sure that would be fine! How do we know the laser paper cutting guy hasn't been doing the same thing? All politics is local, you know.

Aaron W (Aaron W), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 18:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Can you get your guy to put a laser on that funny paper of his?

dean! (deangulberry), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 18:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I voted for the pencil paper, Aaron.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 18:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Thanks everyone who voted! Lasers can kill, pencil paper can't.

Aaron W (Aaron W), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 18:49 (twenty-two years ago)

well maybe if enough fell on you...

luna (luna.c), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 18:51 (twenty-two years ago)

PENCIL PAPER CUTS

dean! (deangulberry), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 18:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Is that the new DJ Design 12"? Shit is mad hot.

oops (Oops), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 18:59 (twenty-two years ago)

I voted for it too even though that laser paper majig is killer and deserves fame and riches.

dean! (deangulberry), Wednesday, 25 February 2004 18:59 (twenty-two years ago)
