Liquid Death - which has mostly been propelled along by excellent marketing - just hit a gold mine: they've been taking hate mail and setting it to music. Some of the tracks are great (the metal ones have been legit) and I guess they are selling full LPs and streaming them? Anyway, hats off marketing people.

Since I stopped drinking (9 months ago?) I drink carbonated water with lime like nobody's business. It has taken the place of booze quite nicely. I even got a big Yeti mug so I take it with me in the car.
It's time to go to the grocery store when I run out of limes. We can go without milk or anything else, but I have to have limes.

I used to drink a lot of fizzy water and my dentist noticed! She asked if I drank soda and I said no, only unsweetened fizzy water... she could tell because the carbolic (?) acid makes little divots in the enamel..
I try to stick to regular old tap water now

Damn it! There's something wrong with soda water?!?
― Cow_Art, Saturday, 1 July 2023 03:19 (two years ago)
Just another dentist scam. Keep drinking that good fizzy gold cow_art 🫡

my dentist (before he cancelled me) told me he had read some health study that concluded carbonated water is bad for your health. These fuckers are all owned by big water.

The acidic element of carbonated water will wreck your enamel but just slower than sugar. Can't imagine I could really cut down on 'em anyway.

I think it helps to view maintaining your dental health as a managed decline project and accept that they are going to get progressively worse unless you are a flossing lunatic who brushes 4 times a day and never eat or drink anything good. Especially if you can't find a dentist within 10 miles who is taking on NHS. Then it becomes a DIY project!
― calzino, Saturday, 1 July 2023 10:16 (two years ago)
welp! just looked at the private surgery prices at my nearest dental practise. I wouldn't even be able to afford fizzy water after these grasping mofos have shook me down.

I quit smoking, quit drinking, gave up Coke... I can't give up Topo Chico too.

they've just got to ruin everything - so now sparkling mineral water is an unhealthy indulgence as well, jfc

I'm a secret perrier drinker

I've just done a 'bunch' of research (I Googled it), and it looks like you should be fine as long as you brush your teeth.
I'm in denial, fwiw - I drink a shit ton and don't want to stop!
― Stars of the Lidl (Chinaski), Sunday, 2 July 2023 09:03 (two years ago)
Yeah, I read conflicting things. It's sorta bad, but it should be okay if I drink a "normal" amount and don't swish it in my mouth? If being acidic is what's bad, the lime juice I always put in it is probably worse.
But fuck it, it's got to be better than gin and tonics, right?

just never read about the coca cola's predatory extraction of water from indigenous communities in mexico -- otherwise you might have to switch to mineragua
