Book of Enoch - classic or dud?

As discovered by explorer James Bruce, i've been reading this controversial text most of the night. Naturally, I'm skeptical of the translation (or ANY translation, for that matter) but it's pretty heavy.

Any of you biblical scholars out there wanna weigh in on it?

I was disappointed. A revenge-fest of cosmic proportions, quite repetitive. Unenlightening. But the Enoch-Metatron thing is quite interesting - a man becomes an archeangel, that doesn't happen every day.

Never done anything serious with it, as reader or writer, but when I eventually get around to the "why the New Testament was written the way it was written" stuff that I'd been putting off in case I learned Greek, I'm sure I'll re-read it.
