Fizzy bath water. That's all I'm saying.

Donna Brown (Donna Brown), Friday, 27 February 2004 17:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I heart Lush.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Friday, 27 February 2004 17:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Me too. I dig butterballs, fairy jasmine and waving, not drowning.

luna (luna.c), Friday, 27 February 2004 17:44 (twenty-two years ago)

(love them, miss them)

Jeanne Fury (Jeanne Fury), Friday, 27 February 2004 17:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Anything that makes me feel that good in the bath, I say = classic.

luna (luna.c), Friday, 27 February 2004 17:50 (twenty-two years ago)

do any of these things work for sore muscles? do they have a ben-gay scented one?

Chris V (Chris V), Friday, 27 February 2004 17:52 (twenty-two years ago)

seriously, i started at a gym on tuesday and i can't friggin move.

Chris V (Chris V), Friday, 27 February 2004 17:53 (twenty-two years ago)

the Lav sez it's good for relieving tension, and it is. Other than that, I'm a loser- I just go for what smells good, yum.

Donna Brown (Donna Brown), Friday, 27 February 2004 18:56 (twenty-two years ago)

they jusy opened a lush in NYC. am excited beyond compare.....

lush lover, Friday, 27 February 2004 19:08 (twenty-two years ago)

I still have to go to Vancouver. It's not fair!

Donna Brown (Donna Brown), Friday, 27 February 2004 19:10 (twenty-two years ago)

They do mail order.

luna (luna.c), Friday, 27 February 2004 19:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I know (whines)...it's just not the same.

Donna Brown (Donna Brown), Friday, 27 February 2004 19:14 (twenty-two years ago)

The mail order is kind of spendy. But definitely worth it. I'd still prefer having a shop nearby though.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Friday, 27 February 2004 19:14 (twenty-two years ago)

we have had onein SF for a year now and it drains our checking accounts monthly

anthony kyle monday (akmonday), Friday, 27 February 2004 19:16 (twenty-two years ago)

I saw it from a car last time I was in SF and thought, 'nooo, it can't be!' and put it out of my mind. Then, the day I left, someone told me it was.

I was deeply saddened.

luna (luna.c), Friday, 27 February 2004 19:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Where is the NYC Lush?

Dickerson Pike (Dickerson Pike), Friday, 27 February 2004 19:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Come to a NYC FAP. You'll find 'em there.

Jeanne Fury (Jeanne Fury), Friday, 27 February 2004 19:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Let's try that again.

Dickerson Pike (Dickerson Pike), Friday, 27 February 2004 19:52 (twenty-two years ago)

According to citysearch, there's a Lush Spa at 98 Thompson St.

Jeanne Fury (Jeanne Fury), Friday, 27 February 2004 20:07 (twenty-two years ago)

That has been there-- is it also a store now?

Dickerson Pike (Dickerson Pike), Friday, 27 February 2004 20:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Just checked the Lush web site -- the only stores listed are in SF and Boston. Oh well.

Jeanne Fury (Jeanne Fury), Friday, 27 February 2004 20:16 (twenty-two years ago)

I think 34th st?? It was mentioned in Time Out, but I can't find the issue that mentions it.

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Friday, 27 February 2004 21:00 (twenty-two years ago)

105-1293 Broadway btw 33rd & 34th

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Friday, 27 February 2004 21:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Ooh, close to work.

Dickerson Pike (Dickerson Pike), Friday, 27 February 2004 21:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Chris V: Wiccy Magic Muscles from Lush is what you want. More Tiger Balm than BenGay smelling.

Colin Meeder (Mert), Saturday, 28 February 2004 08:14 (twenty-two years ago)

i can't remember the last time i took a bath, i always have showers. daily. hence my double ear infection.

nathalie (nathalie), Saturday, 28 February 2004 08:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Theres a Lush in Melbourne and I love walking past it, the lovely smells overpower all the city grime and stink for a moment.

Butterball bathbombs are liquid gold. I like to buy Lush stuff as pressie for family because there's only 2 (I think?) stores in Australia as well.

Trayce (trayce), Saturday, 28 February 2004 08:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Wait I tell a lie, there are actually 8 Lush stores in Aus! 2 in Melbourne alone! Whee.

Trayce (trayce), Saturday, 28 February 2004 08:36 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm going to Lush today. I shall be buying some of that sea salt face scrub stuff which has lime and vodka in it, a king of skin moisturising bar, and about half a dozen assorted bath bombs. A weekend of pampering for me!

C J (C J), Saturday, 28 February 2004 09:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Just checked the Lush web site -- the only stores listed are in SF and Boston.

That can't be up to date, there's one in DC (unless it shut down in the last two weeks). I used to have a recipe for making your own fizzy bath stuff, but didn't use it because I couldn't find citric acid. Anyone have any suggestions?

j.lu (j.lu), Sunday, 29 February 2004 00:54 (twenty-two years ago)

I love going to England and finding Lush on almost every corner. There's another thread on here somewhere where people debated the smell of the place. And while I agree their signature Karma scent smells like a hippie girl (kind of a sexy one), I still find running across a shop in London an exhilirating and day-brightning experience. I can't even begin to explain the joy we exhibited when we ran across the SF shop last year a few days before it opened. I think jumping up and down occurred.

Fuck it I'm taking a bath now.

anthony kyle monday (akmonday), Sunday, 29 February 2004 06:23 (twenty-two years ago)

I could use some lavender scented stuff right now. It makes you sleepy, right? I love the Lush mint body wash as it makes my sack cool and tingly.

Kenny Blankenship (Bryan), Sunday, 29 February 2004 08:17 (twenty-two years ago)

I have thousands of these, well tens anyway, in mesh bags from scores of Christmases, I wish you were my friend so I could give them to you. Maybe if I give them to other people at Christmas they'll eventually work their way to you. By the way I am NOT putting down fizzy bath bombs, it's just I'm too impatient to run baths.

Amity (Amity), Sunday, 29 February 2004 08:28 (twenty-two years ago)

once i was having a bath at a lush employees house while they were out so i thought i'd teef a plain looking bath bomb, smelled nice but i lifted my hairy hand out of the bath into the light and it was iridiscent and covered in glitter, i seemed magical. didn't come off for like 3 weeks tho, what is it with glitter anyway!

prima fassy (mwah), Sunday, 29 February 2004 21:43 (twenty-two years ago)

I hate Lush. At my last job I had to walk past a Lush everyday to get to the restaurants for lunch. When I'm hungry, perfumey smells fucking kill me, like chewing Clorets or smoking. Now whenever I walk past it, even if I'm not hungry, I shudder pavlovically and mutter "Fuck off!"

X RATED TYRONE, Monday, 1 March 2004 08:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I hate Lush. The noisome smell of it makes me feel sick and it's unavoidable because it's not confined to the shop, but pollutes the whole street. I sometimes think I should write a letter to the council because noxious fumes are not a good idea in a busy shopping precinct. I will happily go on a 2-block diversion to avoid it.

I really hate Lush.

Madchen (Madchen), Monday, 1 March 2004 13:21 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm glad I'm not friends w/you, it seems you'd be hard to buy gifts for

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Monday, 1 March 2004 13:23 (twenty-two years ago)

I am not inventive

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Monday, 1 March 2004 13:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Nonsense. Toiletries from shops that do not stink out the high street are quite acceptable.

(please be my friend)

Madchen (Madchen), Monday, 1 March 2004 13:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Your loss, Andrew. Madchen is a tiger amongst friends. I mean that in a good way.

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 1 March 2004 13:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Argh well APPARENTLY she's not nearly as difficult as I'd thought so hey Madchen let's be BUDDIES! I'll buy you some soap!

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Monday, 1 March 2004 13:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Is that a come-on?

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 1 March 2004 13:43 (twenty-two years ago)

No! Give me some credit

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Monday, 1 March 2004 13:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Mmm, soapy.

Madchen (Madchen), Monday, 1 March 2004 14:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Mmm, tit wank.

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 1 March 2004 14:10 (twenty-two years ago)

I didn't know THAT was on offer!

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Monday, 1 March 2004 14:11 (twenty-two years ago)

I wasn't offering it!

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 1 March 2004 14:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Nor was I!

Madchen (Madchen), Monday, 1 March 2004 14:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Well I'm sorely disabused

Silly Sailor (Andrew Thames), Monday, 1 March 2004 14:16 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm with Madchen and the Sailor. The place stinks.

Pete (Pete), Monday, 1 March 2004 14:29 (twenty-two years ago)

"Madchen and the Sailor" - coming to late night Channel 5 soon!

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 1 March 2004 14:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Not forgetting the tiger.

Madchen (Madchen), Monday, 1 March 2004 14:40 (twenty-two years ago)

j.lu -- where's the DC Lush???

quincie, Monday, 1 March 2004 17:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Oval office, at the desk.

Tep (ktepi), Monday, 1 March 2004 17:06 (twenty-two years ago)

(Shut up, someone had to take that.)

Tep (ktepi), Monday, 1 March 2004 17:06 (twenty-two years ago)

the nyc lush seems a bit expensive, but i guess when you factor in shipping from the uk or canada it isn't bad at all.

maura (maura), Monday, 1 March 2004 17:16 (twenty-two years ago)

two months pass...
Now available on Amazon.

(I've never used any Lush products, but all my female friends are excited about this, so there you go. I thought I remembered there being a relevant thread here.)

Tep (ktepi), Saturday, 22 May 2004 00:20 (twenty-one years ago)

we went to lush yesterday! but i forgot all the stuff in my cube at work. so it was a bit overwhelmingly fragrant this morning.

annoyingly they discontinue stuff very quickly in the US for some reason.

kyle (akmonday), Saturday, 22 May 2004 01:30 (twenty-one years ago)

MMMMM bath bombs. Actually, I like "Potion" (it's a body lotion that smells really yummy) the best.

lyra (lyra), Saturday, 22 May 2004 03:54 (twenty-one years ago)

one year passes...
BEST STORE EVAH FOR GETTIN GIFTS FA MOMS AND GRANDMOMS (ESPECIALLY IF THEY TALK ABOUT SEX DRIVE IN THE INGREDIENTS)

Just sayin' (and this is straight outta the flagship store on Robson yo)

dali madison's nut (donut), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 23:14 (twenty years ago)

i love scrolling that pic back and forth. i feel dirty for it.

dali madison's nut (donut), Wednesday, 21 December 2005 23:25 (twenty years ago)

I like the bombs that this woman makes.

Christine 'Green Leafy Dragon' Indigo (cindigo), Thursday, 22 December 2005 01:26 (twenty years ago)

I with the "it stinks" people upthread. I like all the things people have bought me from Lush when removed from the context of being around loads of other, different-smelling, things from Lush, but walking anywhere near it = impending death by stinkiness and inhalation.

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 22 December 2005 01:39 (twenty years ago)

That's overpowering-Lush-smell inhalation, not just general inhalation which isn't really that bad, generally.

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 22 December 2005 01:40 (twenty years ago)

lush reeks. as was said upthread, you can smell it all the way down the street. plus most of their stuff is floral or sweet, which for me is like garlic to a vampire.

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 22 December 2005 02:07 (twenty years ago)

My girlfriend works for Lush. It fucking stinks.

adam (adam), Thursday, 22 December 2005 03:49 (twenty years ago)

I blushed again reading the nice things Markelby said about me up there. Lush still stinks, though.

Mädchen (Madchen), Thursday, 22 December 2005 10:14 (twenty years ago)

Jesus I HATE walking past Lush. I feel like the odor is stuck to me for the rest of the block. Good lord it overpowers any of the restaurants on the street next to it in Georgetown--how does a small little store do that? Ugh.

Allyzay must fight Zolton herself. (allyzay), Thursday, 22 December 2005 15:24 (twenty years ago)

though I love you all, I think you suck. I am going there today!

I suppose having only one Lush in SF is good because it still seems special. If it were on every block I can see getting tired of it.

kyle (akmonday), Thursday, 22 December 2005 15:29 (twenty years ago)

It's not on every block here in DC, though it smells like it if you're in Gtown. :(

Allyzay must fight Zolton herself. (allyzay), Thursday, 22 December 2005 15:31 (twenty years ago)

Maybe I like their stuff because they don't have shop anywhere nearby -- if the smell is as strong as everyone keeps saying it would probably be a real irritant.

Lars and Jagger (Ex Leon), Thursday, 22 December 2005 15:32 (twenty years ago)

I don't know if I would like their stuff as I haven't got the nerve to enter into one of those smell dungeons. It put me off buying them online, plus I can't justify paying shipping when I could go into the store if I wanted to try one THAT badly...I've considered and then always said, no, no, not until they control the smell.

Allyzay must fight Zolton herself. (allyzay), Thursday, 22 December 2005 15:35 (twenty years ago)

it's truly overpowering. i cross the street sometimes, depending on how i'm feeling. can you imagine having to work there with a terrible hangover? the mind boggles.

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 22 December 2005 15:40 (twenty years ago)

Those poor people. I guess you become immune to it after a while, but seriously if NYC is so concerned about workers' health, they should have banned Lush as well as smoking.

Allyzay must fight Zolton herself. (allyzay), Thursday, 22 December 2005 15:42 (twenty years ago)

also, the skin/haircare products that i've tried (with the exception of the lovely - though strongly scented - banana moisturizer) have been mediocore to bad.

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 22 December 2005 15:42 (twenty years ago)

once i was having a bath at a lush employees house while they were out so i thought i'd teef a plain looking bath bomb, smelled nice but i lifted my hairy hand out of the bath into the light and it was iridiscent and covered in glitter, i seemed magical.

this story makes me rofl.

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 22 December 2005 15:47 (twenty years ago)

Oh god, I feel sick at the thought of hangover + Lush.

Mädchen (Madchen), Thursday, 22 December 2005 15:49 (twenty years ago)
