I don't know anything about computers, but mine seems to be ill, or something. Suddenly, my homepage is switched to some weird search engine page and I can't change it back, and every time I go online, for the first few minutes I'm on, this stupid search page pops up like every thirty seconds and the faster I close them, the faster they pop up. I don't know computer words, so I have no idea what kind of search I should have done for old threads about this kind of thing, but this is really getting annoying and I was wondering if any of you have any idea what the hell is going on. ?

virus. I have it too at work. you have to do an online search and figure out how to get rid of it.

I think you click on 'Tools' at the top of Internet Explorer, got to 'Internet Options' and set something nice and neutral as your homepage. Unless you've already tried that, in which case I have no clue.

I dunno if it's a virus or one of those irritating domain-squatting 'search engines', that comes up with a pop up window saying "Do you want to set *** as your homepage?"

I'm sorry, I realize I sound really stupid here, but what, exactly, am I supposed to do a search for?

go to www.lavasoftusa.com
Download ad-aware, restart your computer with your connection unplugged, run the program.

If that doesn't work let me know and I'll see what I can do, but you gotta give me a kiss after.

OR try something like "Explorer virus". there are sites that just list how to fix different stuff. it takes a long time, which is why I gave up at work. plus I didn't need the kiss.

Kristen, I need to run and can't walk you through this. But you've got some spyware crap on your computer. Download and run Ad-Aware:

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/

It's the best program out there for getting rid of the stuff...

I will try that! Thank you, all.

They're right about the spyware. If you don't want this to happen again in the future, my advice is to switch from using Internet Explorer to a browser that isn't as easily exploited by websites that do this - Mozilla is great (www.mozilla.org) or the lighter version, Firefox (formerly Firebird).

I'm on IE and I've been fine since I stopped using Kazaa and surfing sketchy disreputable porn sites, just play it safe and you B ah-ite.

Broheems why are you putting my name is scerrequotes? I know you're friends with some friends of mine in the Bayeeaayeehaay so I've not retaliated against some of your comments about me, put just keep at it champion.
