I am bored.

I am bored. Very bored. I have two months before I go a travelling, and nothing to do, because everyone is refusing to give me a job because I can't work for long enough. And the christmas jobs haven't started yet. To make matters worse, everyone I know is at university or off having a life where I can't contact them ever. So, do you have any suggestions for what I should do to stop myself going stir crazy?

Bill, Friday, 19 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Tell the prospective employers that you're available indefinitely. You don't get anywhere in life by being honest, you know!

MarkH, Friday, 19 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Start a website!

I figured out that I've done about 4 hours' worth of work this week. And I rec'd a new company car. I'm a spoiled li'l brat, and BOOOOOORED, too. Yet, with all these work people hovering about, I surely can't do anything for myself - hence, I poop around the web playing stupid MSN games like Alchemy. And I tease the cock a bit with nonsense such as this.

David Raposa, Friday, 19 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Mark H: I know you don't. Bastard Tesco bastards. (but they said when I got back they'd give me a job the nice fluffy people).
Daver:I did, 4 and a half years ago. It requires sod all updating, unfortunately.

Bill, Friday, 19 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I usually do a bit of drawing/painting when I'm bored. If there is nowt on telly.

Will, Friday, 19 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

1) Buy a tape recorder, some toy instruments and record some no-fi songs.
2) Go and visit a friend at their uni?
3) Go for the occasional long soulful walk.
4) Write about stuff, make ablog, they require not too much HTML or anything like that
5) Temping? 6) Post to ILE!

james, Friday, 19 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

"Long soulful walks": yes, they always help, I find.

What I'd do were I in your circumstances is take long train rides to nowhere in particular for no particular purpose, just to see what the rest of the world is like. I recommend it: nothing relaxes me more. I mean, I'm at the other end of the main line from you, Bill :).

Robin Carmody, Friday, 19 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Train rides, hell yeah. The outer limits of the London Underground are usually quite interesting.

DG, Friday, 19 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Yep! I third train journeys!...and why not sign up to that write a 50,000 word novel thing?

james, Friday, 19 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Actually, temping is the one thing I am trying to do - I was let down at the last minute today but have high hopes for next week. And I'm off to London all tomorrow to see my friend from Royal Holloway and we shall wander about looking at bits and pieces. So it's not all bad. But train rides are out because they cost money and I have to save it to stay in Egypt for two months. and I'm tight, of course :)

Bill, Friday, 19 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I make a list of Constructive or Educational Things to Do, and then I find something interesting to do in a real hurry. It works so well.

Maria, Friday, 19 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I am a temp

is there an online database of Rip Taylor Matchgame photos?

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 21:08 (twenty-two years ago)

screw that. I want a photo of Rip Taylor on the Conan Obrien show, where he does a heartful confession about how he was a depressed goth who tried to off himself with poison confetti, and William "Refrigderator" Perry saved him in the end.

Kingfish (Kingfish), Wednesday, 29 October 2003 21:12 (twenty-two years ago)

kate (kate), Thursday, 30 October 2003 08:59 (twenty-two years ago)

for ideal ass, head to the "Chantel" section of http://www.hypnox.com

(NSFW, kinda)

Kingfish (Kingfish), Thursday, 30 October 2003 14:19 (twenty-two years ago)

I still want to know why there aren't any pages of hot indie rock guys out there in a nice little easy to navigate collection.

ASS ASS ASS ASS ASS ASS ASS

I don't like it when guys have bubble asses. You know?

Sarah McLusky (coco), Thursday, 30 October 2003 14:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Is it just me or does that pic sarah posted look like a rabbit?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 30 October 2003 14:25 (twenty-two years ago)

There was a site of beautiful indie rock guys... damn, I just stumbled on it earlier while trying to find that picture of Alex James in the pilot outfit... (Taking sides: Alex James in a pilot outfit vs. Andrew Scott in a pilot outfit? K-ROWR!!!) ... but it concentrated on their fringes, rather than their asses.

kate (kate), Thursday, 30 October 2003 14:25 (twenty-two years ago)

What happened to the fringe love? *sigh*

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 30 October 2003 14:29 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm all for fringe love. Kate brought up talking about asses! (*pointing finger*)

Kenan posted that snoring guy first on another thread.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Thursday, 30 October 2003 14:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Here is the fringe love!!!

kate (kate), Thursday, 30 October 2003 14:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Whatever happened to the ass love? *sighs*

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 30 October 2003 14:35 (twenty-two years ago)

It's all about RAF bomber jackets now. Especially with weird kinky leather strap things at the neck, K-ROWR!!!

kate (kate), Thursday, 30 October 2003 14:36 (twenty-two years ago)

The guy from Semisonic totally does not belong on that page.

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Thursday, 30 October 2003 14:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, there are some odd choices on that page. And some total non-fringe choices! And some glaring omissions! (I mean, Courtney Taylor-Taylor hasn't had a fringe in about eight years! And what no Peter Holmstrom?)

kate (kate), Thursday, 30 October 2003 14:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Tim is there, I am happy!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 30 October 2003 14:52 (twenty-two years ago)

In 1994/5 I had crushes on 17 people on the fringe love page. I just counted.

Madchen (Madchen), Thursday, 30 October 2003 15:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Me, too. At least 15 or 16. I feel so ashamed.

kate (kate), Thursday, 30 October 2003 15:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Why ashamed, kate? I'm still in love with most of them, after Nick of course.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Thursday, 30 October 2003 16:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Because I'm so OVER pop star boys, and it's all about Oxbridge Professors Of Classics now.

kate (kate), Thursday, 30 October 2003 16:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, of course...

I'm not.

Sarah McLUsky (coco), Thursday, 30 October 2003 16:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, I mean, if Alex James would just leave Blur-Lite and succomb to his true destiny of being an Oxbridge professor of French, Wine, Cheese, Astronomy and Art History, well, then I suppose I could find a little love left over for him. Especially now he's grown a beard to try and look just like HSA.

Spacemen 3 (coco), Thursday, 30 October 2003 19:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Oi! Who said anything about not loving you any more, Sonic! Now you're officially an honourary professor of Wubbology at the BBC Radiophonic Workshop University.

(Come to think of it, I bet that the same "Digital Creativity" department that gave HSA an Honourary Fellowship might give Sonic one, too - Sonic and HSA were talking about getting together to play with their oscilloscopes, I mean, make an album at one point, I don't know why they don't get on and do it!)

four months pass...
You know, I was going to start a thread called "I Am Bored" this afternoon, because I'm going out of my mind with boredom today. (I finished everything I had to do today at about 11am.)

But there's already this thread.

My god, I'm so bored. Anyone in South London want to nip out for a quick pint in Southwark? I'm sure I won't be missed!

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Friday, 30 July 2004 12:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Bored, bored, bored.

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Friday, 30 July 2004 12:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Sorry Kate - romantic Robster birthday meal this evening. But more than that:

HOLY SHIT THAT'S A SAMURAI PIZZA CATS PICTURE UP ABOVE THERE!!!!!!

And you know I'm not given to all-caps action.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 30 July 2004 12:18 (twenty-one years ago)

me too. i've been here for three hours, its a beautiful day outside and I need something to do. Too bad I can't see outside because there are no windows in this prison. Maybe I'll go to the bookstore at lunch for a few hours.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Friday, 30 July 2004 12:18 (twenty-one years ago)

I am, like, double-booked for the rest of the weekend. I did that on purpose so I wouldn't get lonely. But this afternoon, and possibly this evening as well, I am BOOOOOORRRRRED. And bored is dangerous. Sigh.

What else is there on the web to entertain me? Maybe I should look up college courses instead of cute boys.

Super-Masonic Black Hole (kate), Friday, 30 July 2004 12:20 (twenty-one years ago)

i always kill time on www.thesmokinggun.com by reading concert riders and looking at mugshots.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Friday, 30 July 2004 12:22 (twenty-one years ago)

have you taken all the quizzes in okcupid? i only joined it recently, it's pretty entertaining.

i'm bored as well, even though i've got masses of work to do. just no motivation.

colette (a2lette), Friday, 30 July 2004 12:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Got a load of work having just taken an extended lunch with my boy, but i really can't be arsed.

PinXor (Pinkpanther), Friday, 30 July 2004 12:49 (twenty-one years ago)

I am bored. I had one more little thing to do, and now there's nothing for the rest of the day.

Ah well, at least I'm not stuffing envelopes like the sales team.

Quizzes on OKCupid? Do you have to be signed up to play? Coz I don't want to have to register for an internet dating site or anything like that...

gaz (gaz), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 23:41 (twenty-one years ago)

what you need to do is go to the deli, get some mike's hard cranberry lemonade, and ask for a soda cup of ice. pour the mike's into the cup, and hey presto! if anyone says anything you can say that it's fruitopia or snapple or suchlike.

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 23:41 (twenty-one years ago)

are you at least clocking some overtime? or are you salaried and therfore their bitch?

oops (Oops), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 23:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I am not in the cellar, but that sounds nice. Then at least I would be alone.

no, I get overtime.

the deli, lauren? Have you ever been to Emeryville??? (Recalling our past conversations, I'm pretty sure you haven't)

adam. (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 23:46 (twenty-one years ago)

I am trying to work out what I am going to play at this party on Saturday night but I don't have a clue what kind of party it will be. Difficult.

dog latin (dog latin), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 23:53 (twenty-one years ago)

do you know who will be going?

gaz (gaz), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 23:54 (twenty-one years ago)

I was kind of bored and spaced out at work today, then Dan made me decide to do this

http://homepage.mac.com/tombot/.Pictures/sebastien.jpg http://homepage.mac.com/tombot/.Pictures/stevem.jpg http://homepage.mac.com/tombot/.Pictures/jeanne.jpg http://homepage.mac.com/tombot/.Pictures/gear.jpg http://homepage.mac.com/tombot/.Pictures/gareth.jpg http://homepage.mac.com/tombot/.Pictures/alba.jpg http://homepage.mac.com/tombot/.Pictures/jel.jpg

and for a little while I wasn't bored. Then I smoked a cigarette, logged my timecard, and went hunting all over downtown for a DVD of American Psycho.

TOMBOT, Wednesday, 22 September 2004 23:57 (twenty-one years ago)

hahaha! who is that on the bottom right? is it jel?

adam. (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 23:58 (twenty-one years ago)

TOMBOT IN CHANDLERVILLE

gaz (gaz), Wednesday, 22 September 2004 23:59 (twenty-one years ago)

a few people. i asked the guy who invited me what kind of stuff to play and he said "just play whatever". it's not his house, it's someone else's but last time he had a party i prepared an excellent techno mix and it was all just about to kick off when the police turned up. this time there will be two dj rooms and i know one room will be playing a lot of funk/hiphop stuff.
i don't know whether this will be a chill/drink/smoke party or a /dance/gurn/pill party or not. i'd love to play some head-noddy stuff but it might bring everyone down if there are certain drgs a gwan and if there are then i may just have to dig out a techno mix i prepared earlier (i dj on computer so it's pretty much preplanned).
AARGH!

dog latin (dog latin), Thursday, 23 September 2004 00:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, that's jel. I think it's my favorite. He's being accosted by an off-panel gangster but he doesn't know where the titties are, they've got the wrong guy.

TOMBOT, Thursday, 23 September 2004 00:01 (twenty-one years ago)

djing in a "heres one i made earlier" way is classic!
