I love the snarky narrator making fun of Adam. I love that the Adam/Jamie relationship grows more and more into a serene and invincible sensei/bumbling student relationship, though I imagine Adam does not. When Adam beat Jamie in the needle in a haystack race I was actually filled with pride for him.
I love the build team. I love that when they were checking whether talking to plants improves them, Kari called them "stupid freshman peas." I love that Scottie (who I have a crush on, I will admit this) has the ability to weld, forge and occaisionally breathe fire (the balloons floating a four year old episode).
Until I discovered Mythbusters I was getting my TV for gigantic nerds fix from Good Eats on the food network. Nothing blows up on good eats, there are no hot tattooed fire breathing welder girls on Good Eats. Mythbusters is to Good Eats what Crack is to Fruitopia.

Its funny everyone talks about their platonic coupley relationship because in actuality, the Mythbusters guys dislike each other immensely off the show. Seriously, I read an interview with them where they admitted they really don't get on terribly well and just tolerate each other for the show's dynamic.

Boy, if that's as profound as the guy gets my impression of Mythbusters as science and "engineering" for people who got C's in science and work at Radio Shack is OTM.
I'd be embarrassed to come up with these:
But there are times when innovation produces aggravation, and when that happens, technology can flat out drive us nuts.
Times, eh?
Computer operating systems loaded with stuff I don't want and will never use.
Naw, surely he shits us!
Why not start with a computer loaded with basic stuff that works 100 percent of the time?
Oooooh, first time I've read that. Today.
― Gorge, Thursday, 31 January 2008 02:03 (seventeen years ago)
I'm embarrassed for you anyway.
― El Tomboto, Thursday, 31 January 2008 02:13 (seventeen years ago)
It is kind of annoying though the way he throws in the phrase "feature bloat" and then says, "Why not start with a computer loaded with basic stuff that works 100 percent of the time?" Well, because of feature bloat. There's a reason why it happens, has to do with the business of selling operating systems instead of hardware, look it up. Or just think about it for a second.
He's otm about Ubuntu, though, I love it and it has not failed me yet.

i used to like the show until: 1.they ran out of good ideas. 2.i realized they are annoying, esp. Adam, who is too nerdy-obsessive to handle, and tends to laugh hystericly , and for no reason,at anything that goes wrong or right on the experiments.
― Zeno, Wednesday, 28 May 2008 19:42 (seventeen years ago)

luv em, but they can be annoying and it's annoying when they screw one up. like, they had a candle in front of a big woofer and said it's true, the sound blew out the candle! no way. big woofers move air. the air blew out the candle.
― andrew m., Wednesday, 28 May 2008 19:48 (seventeen years ago)

― Zeno, Wednesday, 28 May 2008 19:50 (seventeen years ago)

On the Discovery Channel channels in Europe, this is part of the text of the advertisement for the show:"Meet Adam and Jamie. They're on a mission to solve urban myths."

Budget, decision by those three, something else?
― Ned Raggett, Friday, 22 August 2014 02:33 (eleven years ago)
Feels logical that they would end up doing something else since their segments always were kinda separate from the Jamie/Adam bits, but they could have left ages ago. Why now?
― StanM, Friday, 22 August 2014 06:38 (eleven years ago)
I can't recall offhand any segment where they ever interacted personally with Adam and Jamie. Their segments really were like a show within a show.
― Everyone's a closet ned. (Johnny Fever), Friday, 22 August 2014 06:47 (eleven years ago)
You're right, but why is that? Strictly a production decision, or something else?
― fields of salmon, Friday, 22 August 2014 07:08 (eleven years ago)
Weird. I was watching this with the fam a couple nights ago and it struck me that it was about time these people (any of the cast, not Kari, Grant, and Tory specifically) would go off and do other things with their careers.

I know Adam does side project stuff as he goes and Jamie's still got his core business.
This happened more often earlier on but as it got more established, it went from there -- the M7 mentioned in the link is the separate studio space from M5 that was eventually set up when the show got more popular.
