Is it just a weird media quirk, or have a lot of people been dying lately after acciedntally being dragged several miles by a car?

Every time I read about this, I think about how it would be to die that way, and I try to convince myself that somehow it wouldn't be that bad, but it must surely be horrible.

I know someone whose elderly and slightly insane grandmother went for a picnic with some friends, and took her dog with them. She tied the dog to the back bumper of the car to stop it running away, and then forgot it was there when it was time to go home. She'd driven about five miles before she remembered :((

I know someone who fell off the back of a old-fashioned double-decker bus which started too quickly JUST after he got on... he held on to the big pole and was dragged right to the next stop. He lost both shoes and most of the skin on his feet couldn't walk properly for ages... nasty.
