The other day "ghost" was on tv, starring Patrick Swayze. To my disgust, my eyes filled with hot tears at the sweet sorrow more than once. I am willing to be punished for this show of weakness.

Mike Hanle y (mike), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 00:25 (twenty-one years ago)

The bad guy in "Ghost" had the name Bruner, so consider this post as the first sign of the evil which now stalks you and will punish you in good time.

Barry Bruner (Barry Bruner), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 00:27 (twenty-one years ago)

is this better or worse than weeping at Ghost Busters?

Ian Johnson (orion), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 00:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Is Whoopie in 'Ghost'? She always makes me cry. Tears of rage, though.

andy, Tuesday, 2 March 2004 00:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Dude, Ghost is mad sad, it's about a dude what gets killed for some reason that I forget and then killer guy macks his wife and she makes pots or something and lezzed up with Whoopi, ok I don't really remember what happens in Ghost but I remember it was damn ass sad.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 2 March 2004 01:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't show your weakness Ally, you must remain a beacon of pride in these dim times.

Mike Hanle y (mike), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 01:34 (twenty-one years ago)

OK, you're right, I was just trying to make you feel better.

Allyzay, Tuesday, 2 March 2004 01:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Ghost is sad because Whoopi fucking Goldberg won an Oscar for it, and she was the first African-American to win an Oscar since Hattie McDaniel in Gone With the Wind, and she won it for fucking Ghost and that is what's sad thank you the end.

NA (Nick A.), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 01:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Mike, I once cried during an episode of Jem and the Holograms. If the Swayze moves you, then that's OK.

Kim (Kim), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 03:30 (twenty-one years ago)

It was that episode where Storm wanted to leave the Misfits but couldn't find a place in the world, right?

Allyzay, Tuesday, 2 March 2004 03:39 (twenty-one years ago)

The Dave Chappelle version of Ghost was pretty good. It was like:

"Yeah, I can see you. You wanna watch me bang your hot wife?"

bnw (bnw), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 03:43 (twenty-one years ago)

i watched ghost with people in my dorm last week and i was the only one who didn't like it and they said i had no soul and i needed to fall in love.

Maria (Maria), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 03:46 (twenty-one years ago)

'Ghost' and 'Weekend at Bernie's' did well at the box office for the same reason, though playing to mostly different audiences: They were very entertaining, depending on your tastes. I guess they're both sort of classics. My wife likes Ghost, I like Bernie's.

jim wentworth (wench), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 04:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Stepmom was on Sunday night. It got me right at the end...Man, I'm still red-eyed. But that might be the dope.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 2 March 2004 18:52 (twenty-one years ago)

You know, I own every Jem episode. I watched every one. The misfits are usch assholes. They have tried to kill Jem many times, yet jem is only kind of annoyed at them. I f I was Jem, the next tme I was near the misfits and there was no cops, like when they were in the eskimo town, smoke the motherfuckers. They also ere never very clever in their use of synergy. Why didnt they just make synergy make an Eric Raymond hologram and have it go on public Tv to announce that Jem rules and the misfits suck?

Mike Hanle y (mike), Wednesday, 3 March 2004 01:51 (twenty-one years ago)

God don't get me started again on the psychological complexities of that show, it's completely bullshit. The whole Jem-Jericha-Rio love triangle sickens and disgusts me and always has. Jem and Jericha are the same person! Rio doesn't know this so in his mind he's cheating on them! But Jem and Jericha are the same person and therefore know that he is cheating on them! WTF? Kick the fucking purple haired dickwad to the motherfucking streets, he ain't no good for you girl. It's horrifying.

Also, the thing is, the Misfits songs truly were better, they weren't lying about that. Jem's songs were kind of ass.

Allyzay, Wednesday, 3 March 2004 01:55 (twenty-one years ago)

I really like "Only Me and the Music" though. I can't belive the last show was such a cop out. Suddenly the misfits are no longer psychopathic, and Rio still does not know who Jem really is. What shit. Rio is a shit ham. He should have fucked pizaz when he had the chance, at least he understand her .

Mike Hanle y (mike), Wednesday, 3 March 2004 03:16 (twenty-one years ago)

The idea of the Misfits going unpsycho was enough to scar me for life. Voltron should've come down and shot the shit out of Synergy and showed all of these two-faced bitches who the boss was. And killed that bastard Rio. He's besmirching the name of an excellent album by his nefarious womanizing.

Allyzay, Wednesday, 3 March 2004 03:20 (twenty-one years ago)

I cried at Titanic. I was having a lot of problems at the time, and for some reason that movie just made me cry and cry and cry until I fell asleep. I'm such a pussy sometimes...

latebloomer (latebloomer), Wednesday, 3 March 2004 14:20 (twenty-one years ago)

I've cried at a few Behind the Music episodes. The Queen Latifah one ripped my heart out.

The Jem discussion is more proof that 80s cartoons can seriously mess with your head.

Barima (Barima), Wednesday, 3 March 2004 15:03 (twenty-one years ago)

I always cry at Watership Down. I fill up every time. And the original Incredible Journey when the wee boy thinks his bull terrier hasn't made it then it comes trotting round the corner......

This has probably been mentioned somewhere, but Jem, Season One and Two, comes out on DVD in a couple weeks.

DB Sweeney is the toughest mofo I've ever seen.

a friend of ours had to work with DB Sweeney once, he said Sweeney was like the world's biggest asshole, stopping scenes because like the stack of paper on his desk wasn't high enough and "more paper is funnier" and shit like that. i mean for god's sake, you are DB Sweeney, you are not actually a famous person, sit down.

and she was the first African-American to win an Oscar since Hattie McDaniel in Gone With the Wind

African-American woman, maybe? Lou Gossett Jr. and Denzel Washington and Isaac Hayes and Prince (and probably a couple others) all had Oscars before Whoopi did.
