As you may well be aware now, my horrible little brother has discovered the joys of IL* (he's not that little, he is 17 after all), so this prompts me to ask - do YOU have any siblings you wish were drowned as soon as they were born? [I are watching you, FatNick]

DG, Friday, 19 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

NEW SIBLING RIVALRY ANSWERS!

DG, Friday, 19 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

No. I have two younger brothers, both of whom are lovely.

Sean, Friday, 19 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

actually yes, and i ain't joking. my older brother is a fucking cunt and i will not cry at his funeral.

di, Friday, 19 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I love both my brother and sister, but this was not always the case. My sister is a lazy socialite waster though.

Ed, Friday, 19 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I like my sister!

james, Friday, 19 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

My brother is having a face like a wild baboon. I would like to shoot him with a bacterial gun!

King Fat Nick I, Friday, 19 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

One younger sister, who rocks. Oh yes.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 19 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

only child, wouldn't have it any other way.

Jeff, Friday, 19 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Yes, 1, he's 16, just started the sixth form and is a waster, to be honest. I just wish he'd actually lose his remarkably intelligent brain for some purpose. But he has quite good taste in music. Unfortunately, he's also permanently stoned.

Bill, Friday, 19 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I just wish he'd actually lose his remarkably intelligent brain for some purpose.

Can one lose one's mind for a purpose? I suppose mistaking one's wife for a hat might be good if one could then wear it. The guy who thought he was a chicken had clearly lost his mind, and his brother didn't bother to enlighten him because 'we need the eggs'.

Hmm. My first post on ILM was to ask if Mark Sinker was my brother, who is also called Mark (but happens to be head of the English department at a Cambridge University). I was just thinking, before stumbling on this question, how odd it is that he -- a pillar of the community -- knows all the back alleys of Brixton and Westbourne Grove from buying drugs there, whereas I, a rock musician (apparently) have never done drugs in my life.

Momus, Friday, 19 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

My first post on ILM was to ask if Mark Sinker was my brother

Can we pretend you're siblings anyway? Then Mike Hanle y can be the cheeky little scamp nephew or something.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 19 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Well, we're going to have work out which one of us is Cain and which one is Abel.

Momus, Friday, 19 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Ned, YOUR! Yes yes yes yes! I was able to correct you! :-)
Momus, I am intrigued to learn more about your plaster cast. I read a blurb in a zine about it, but it didn't quench my desire. ;-)

Helen Fordsdale, Friday, 19 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Quench my desire? I am sounding like damn Jackie Collins!

Helen Fordsdale, Friday, 19 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Chiz chiz.

There, I said it. Now I can die happy.

Nicole, Friday, 19 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Did you ever hear about Catherine the Great and her cast of Potemkin? Phwoar.

Nicole, Friday, 19 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Helen, you can read more about my plaster casting experience here or you can go and see the documentary 'Plaster Caster', coming to a film festival near you soon. You can run, but you can't hide.

Momus, Friday, 19 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Momus, I am awaiting the DVD. Don't say you won't be featured in it! I think Cynthia said it was cuddly! She added she wanted to try it again.

Helen Fordsdale, Friday, 19 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

that actually happened? (and for what reason am i surprised?)

my younger brothers and i have been on truce lately. it's peculiar, and when i get used to it it may be nice.

Maria, Friday, 19 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Ned, YOUR! Yes yes yes yes! I was able to correct you! :-)

*bows* Helen, I love you dearly (well, why not?), but please reread the sentence thus:

"Can we pretend you are siblings anyway?"

Thanks very much. ;-)

Ned Raggett, Friday, 19 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i have never done drugs either, so I must be YOU momus: how does that work? also i know someone who was married to the lawyer who cynthia her plastercasts back from the MAN!

i haf a sistah becky as all know: she is the smart one and her website is HERE

mark s, Friday, 19 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

mark a grate site ! a bit cute but more inforamtion then most other sites i have seen. tell yr sister she made me proud

anthony, Friday, 19 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

thank you anthony, i tht you might like it: it is intended for school-kids as well as their teachers, which is where the cuteness first came from (her first site contained computer art by four-year-olds: it is called the "rosendale project" I think and may still be googlable)

mark s, Friday, 19 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

it seemed to be the case , a good balance , it is very hard to find someting for novices and experts

anthony, Friday, 19 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Well MY penis would just bust the cast off as soon as it hardened. I am...very virile.

Mike Hanle y, Friday, 19 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

One little but larger sister, (the) Betsy. Of course I love her - this is easy when one lives 5000 miles away - but I wonder, has she ever removed her mascara? Should any of you be flying into Minneapolis, look out the plane window. The POLO SPORT and HILFIGER logos so huge you can see them from the air are *her clothes*.

Question for Nick -- did you meet her in Mpls or did she just stand there glowering over her beer at you being a scary member of the Mpls Ass-Kickin' Kru? I forget...

suzy, Saturday, 20 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Mark, I haven't done drugs either. So maybe we are both Momus. Maybe he has multiple personality syndrom. Too confusing.
Was that lawyer Cohen or something? Do you know her personally? Had a chat with a guy who was at her 50th birthday. "I don't want to sound rude, but she's still HOT."

Helen Fordsdale, Saturday, 20 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I am an only child.

I saw an exhibiton of Cynthia Plaster Caster's casts at Thread Waxing Space last year. I was horrified that there was cast of Bob Grant.

rosemary, Saturday, 20 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Cohen was the fellow who had the plastercasts: Santiago Durango formerly of Big Black was the lawyer who got em returned to Cynthia. I've never met her, but Sant's ex-wife C got to know her quite well. C wd like ILE actually.

mark s, Saturday, 20 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

C meaning Cath Carroll, I take it? Invite her on.

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 20 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

my brother

Mike Hanle y, Saturday, 20 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Are you for real?

toraneko, Saturday, 20 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

your brother is from the 70s

Ed, Saturday, 20 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

he's awesome

Mike Hanle y, Saturday, 20 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

your bro looks like a cool dude Mike!

james, Saturday, 20 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Mark S has one cool sister.

I can't really imagine being anything other than an only child, though. My closest equivalent of the "hated brother" is two of my cousins, though I don't actually *hate* them, my attitude is more depression at their narrow horizons and disappointment at how little they've done with their lives. But then I could also hurl the second accusation at myself and would be almost entirely in the right.
