mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 5 March 2004 16:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Where are Denis Law and Henrik Larsson eh? Eh?

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 5 March 2004 16:42 (twenty-one years ago)

90s English football better represented than the mid-60s?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 5 March 2004 16:44 (twenty-one years ago)

And the point of this list is (aside from some swanky wanky event in fucking Monte Bloody Carlo sponsored by corporate cockfarmery for Pele to say 'ees da beadifal game' and 'we can beat them, hatch' and then various self-satisfied tools suck Blatter's overtanned cock?

I'm getting sick of Pele. He always says whichever country he is in at the time will win the World Cup. Bloody fencesitter.

Dave B (daveb), Friday, 5 March 2004 16:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Right, where's Claudio Gentile then?

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Friday, 5 March 2004 16:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Or, for that matter, John Charles? Actually, yeah, a list without John Charles is a list without merit.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Friday, 5 March 2004 16:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Got some bad news for you Dom...

Dave B (daveb), Friday, 5 March 2004 17:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Lev Yashin, Sandor Kocsis, Jim Baxter, Rudi Kroll, and most glaringly of all, Garrincha and Stan Matthews! OK, I'm far too young to have seen any of these play but these often challenge in all time XI lists.

Nick H (Nick H), Friday, 5 March 2004 17:02 (twenty-one years ago)

The list is of living players...

Dave B (daveb), Friday, 5 March 2004 17:04 (twenty-one years ago)

oh yeah, I shoulda indicated that when I posted it
(actually, I didn't know)

Begs2Differ (Begs2Differ), Friday, 5 March 2004 17:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Ah, I didn't know it was of living players. That would explain Lev Yashin's absence as well.

I actually thought Alfredo Di Stefano was dead, but then, what do I know?

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Friday, 5 March 2004 17:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Only 3 players from the Brazil 1970 team, which is one less than the current Arsenal team get, but at least is one more than the current Liverpool team get(Owen, El Hadji Diouf)

But it's still a good list, because Roy Keane's in it, and Mick McCarthy, strangely, isn't.

Joe Kay (feethurt), Friday, 5 March 2004 17:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Is Jairzinho dead?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 5 March 2004 19:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Jairzinho's alive.
Having only one Scot is poor.

pete s, Friday, 5 March 2004 19:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Aah. I was wondering about the lack of Bobby Moore.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 5 March 2004 23:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Michelle Akers = constantly on the ground having been fouled

Abby Wambach is where it's at (for USA women)
