is Ned like the best person in the world?

i've only been reading here for about a year and i've never met the guy, but let's consider the facts:

e-mail domain is "coochie.org"
i think i saw him get vaguely het up once--maybe the "dave matth3ws & why he is so hated" thread? but not really
has long hair and is comfortable with it
HIS NAME IS NED
on the minus side, he said that Superchunk live "left him cold"--it's okay not to like them (maybe) but "left him cold"?
MBV really is pretty good, eh?
i don't wanna tar him with the "nice guy" label--sure, i'd do him if he or i were gay--but he seems like a really nice guy
he likes seam

so yes, it's only a bb and i'm kinda drunk, but in conclusion i support Ned for King of the World. (unless my friend jeff ha11 in alaska runs for the job because he's like a saint, albeit a rockist saint...)

he's a robot

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Saturday, 6 March 2004 02:03 (twenty-one years ago)

I KNEW IT!

mookieproof (mookieproof), Saturday, 6 March 2004 02:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Indeed, the one thing I've ever really disagreed with Ned on is Superchunk. Other than that, he is as advertised.

martin m. (mushrush), Saturday, 6 March 2004 02:06 (twenty-one years ago)

No, he's a seagull.

Broheems (diamond), Saturday, 6 March 2004 02:06 (twenty-one years ago)

no, a manatee

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Saturday, 6 March 2004 02:07 (twenty-one years ago)

i heart ned.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Saturday, 6 March 2004 02:08 (twenty-one years ago)

One of Ned's enthusiatic AMG reviews for an Eno album recently prompted me to go out and buy it a few days later. I still haven't bothered listening to side B though because, despite his joyous 4.5 star rating, methinks it sucks pretty badly. But yeah.. nice guy. Real nice.

*shakes fist*

maypang (maypang), Saturday, 6 March 2004 02:14 (twenty-one years ago)

which eno album?

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Saturday, 6 March 2004 02:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually, it's probably more of a Harold Budd album, but it was The Pearl. I'm sure it's a good album if you're into that sort of thing. Unfortunately I'm not though. Not yet, anyway.

maypang (maypang), Saturday, 6 March 2004 02:19 (twenty-one years ago)

jesus it took me like two minutes to process 'coochie dot org'

teeny (teeny), Saturday, 6 March 2004 02:23 (twenty-one years ago)

You people are nuts but I like it. And the 'coochie' joke is a long-standing fave in KUCI land.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 6 March 2004 02:29 (twenty-one years ago)

huhuh, the best person in the world likes us people nuts, huhuh, huhuh

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Saturday, 6 March 2004 02:31 (twenty-one years ago)

What would the Estonian equivalent of Beavis and Butthead be called anyway?

(More seriously, as always, thanks. I try, though I know sometimes I fail -- but I keep trying.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 6 March 2004 02:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Now that's a good Ned!

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Saturday, 6 March 2004 02:37 (twenty-one years ago)

You'll always be our #1.

maypang (maypang), Saturday, 6 March 2004 02:37 (twenty-one years ago)

That is, err.. statistically speaking.

maypang (maypang), Saturday, 6 March 2004 02:37 (twenty-one years ago)

(What would the Estonian equivalent of Beavis and Butthead be called anyway?

Ned -- when my son and his then best friend were 'bout eleven years old - and used to make helluva racket with some olden drums and a tape recorder, pretending they were a rap-metal band called Big Pig - I sometimes tended to call them Boovis and Bithead)

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Saturday, 6 March 2004 02:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Once we agree on who is the best person in the world, then perhaps we may determine the degree to which Ned is like that person. You know?

Aimless (Aimless), Saturday, 6 March 2004 04:00 (twenty-one years ago)

like, yah

mookieproof (mookieproof), Saturday, 6 March 2004 04:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Hmm. I think I can safely say that Ned is a truly lovely individual.

Many Coloured Halo (Dee the Lurker), Saturday, 6 March 2004 04:07 (twenty-one years ago)

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Saturday, 6 March 2004 04:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned is a dren.

Begs2Differ (Begs2Differ), Saturday, 6 March 2004 04:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I had a similar thought recently. TO NED! *Drains glass of cheap Aushiraz*

Hunter (Hunter), Saturday, 6 March 2004 04:38 (twenty-one years ago)

He'd be nothing without Shakespeare.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Saturday, 6 March 2004 04:41 (twenty-one years ago)

There are times - rare, mind you, but not unknown - when Ned is rather subfusc. Other than that, he's a pip. Which is a queer saying, really, because normally, if you find a pip in your mouth, you spit it out. Or I do. But, leaving that, I do mean to say Ned is pretty swell. Although not precisely a swell - which is to say, in the customary sense of 'a swell', rather than, for example, ocean swells, or swellings. Ned has little resemblence to a swelling, heavens no! Unless you notice when, after a jolly night at a FAP, Ned's eyes may be a mite bit puffy. Nor is he actually pretty, either. But he is pretty swell. I stand by that.

Aimless (Aimless), Saturday, 6 March 2004 04:45 (twenty-one years ago)

I shall ponder this.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 6 March 2004 05:02 (twenty-one years ago)

KOALA TACOS

Eisbär (llamasfur), Saturday, 6 March 2004 05:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Num!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 6 March 2004 05:06 (twenty-one years ago)

I love Ned, he's like the cheerleader for ILM/ILX.

latebloomer (latebloomer), Saturday, 6 March 2004 05:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Heavens! ;-)

Nate in ST.P (natedetritus), Saturday, 6 March 2004 05:52 (twenty-one years ago)

I've met Ned, we observed the one ring in a lava lamp. If he grew sideburns he'd be the president of the world, and build spaceships to take us to Mars.

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 6 March 2004 12:29 (twenty-one years ago)

It's all in the sideburns, or lack thereof in this case.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 6 March 2004 12:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I heart Ned too.

C J (C J), Saturday, 6 March 2004 14:44 (twenty-one years ago)

When the going gets tough, the tough gets Ned.

Jeanne Fury (Jeanne Fury), Saturday, 6 March 2004 15:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned's good people :)

Donna Brown (Donna Brown), Sunday, 7 March 2004 03:47 (twenty-one years ago)

You gotta watch those nice guys though. some of them secretly eat people.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 7 March 2004 05:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Yikes! I'm too far away though and you never leave your computer except for a quick bite to eat.

scott seward (scott seward), Sunday, 7 March 2004 05:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Okay, I'll say something nice. Ned is often a safe harbour on stormy threads of snark. And he is very loveable. you can't ask for much more than that from a possible cannibal.

scott seward (scott seward), Sunday, 7 March 2004 05:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Did you ever know that you're my hero?
You're everything I wish I could be?
I could fly higher than an eagle
'Cuz you are the wind beneath my wings

Bette Middler (Dan Perry), Sunday, 7 March 2004 13:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Whenever I'm lost in a haze of how awful people moslty are, EVEN THE GOOD ONES, yes the thought of Ned cheers me up. He prob does all sorts of horrible stuff I don't know about, tho.

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Sunday, 7 March 2004 13:30 (twenty-one years ago)

He greated me when i formally intro'ed myself.
He has good enthusiasm which in turn makes everyone confortable posting here...and for that he is ilx/ilm's greatest asset.

thomas de'aguirre (biteylove), Sunday, 7 March 2004 16:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned helps people make money too :

udu wudu (udu wudu), Sunday, 7 March 2004 17:09 (twenty-one years ago)

So revolted are people by my taste and reviews that they desperately are unloading their collection!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 7 March 2004 17:24 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd say Ned is my favorite Ned but I'm going to be rooming with another Ned next year and I don't want to get on his bad side. But he definitely makes the top 2. Ned Beatty ain't got NUTHIN' on Raggett.
