My two best friends for years, Heather and Brian, just moved to Phoenix, AZ this past Thursday. Just got a call from two other friends Donny and Kate that they will be moving to Chicago or D.C. in July. And I'm still sad Jess is no longer an hour away from me (though glad he's not trapped in ol' Oly anymore)

Stop it! No more friends moving away from me. Either that, or replace yourselves with new cool people in your place. Thank you.

(This is the thread where you whine like me about shit like this in your city...)

(Ok, seriously, I've been really down about all of this, especially since it's all happening at the same time :( )

ts: moving to a city where you dont know anyone vs. moving back to a city where everyone you know has moved

ITS WIN-WIN BABY

*shoots self in face*

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Saturday, 6 March 2004 03:13 (twenty-one years ago)

They can't handle it, db! Seattle's too cool for them! Or maybe not...
In my case, all my friends have left as I had once done myself, but am now back, all by my lonesome, and feeling the wrath of the city. The ones that are left have changed so much (not for the better) it's brutally disheartening. I just came back from socializing...with a hot dog, at the 7-11...on a friday night. *cries*

Francis Watlington (Francis Watlington), Saturday, 6 March 2004 03:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually, Francis, that was the former's reason for moving.. literally. Seattle was too cold for them, and they think there was some physiological issue they had with being in this type of climate. They LOVE the city, but just couldn't physically handle the weather. which is why they want to immerse themselves and bask in really high dry heat for a while to see if they love it or not.

to jess, heh, well I did admit this is merely whining.. i know things could be a lot worse, and i just wish i wasn't so depressed right now..(although borrowing Martin's "Fred Schneider" CD and listening to it is helping me right now... great version of "Coconut")

donut bitch (donut), Saturday, 6 March 2004 03:17 (twenty-one years ago)

haha oh yeah because from my vantage point of extreme moral superiority i have the right to snipe at people for whining

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Saturday, 6 March 2004 03:18 (twenty-one years ago)

that's a bit like superman yelling constantly at all other superheroes for being superheroes

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Saturday, 6 March 2004 03:18 (twenty-one years ago)

in other words i FEEL YOUR PAIN

donut bitch (donut), Saturday, 6 March 2004 03:20 (twenty-one years ago)

jess, I would have offered to have you live in my living room for free for a little while in Seattle if it meant that you could stay here and work here.

donut bitch (donut), Saturday, 6 March 2004 03:22 (twenty-one years ago)

out of curiosity, what's the appeal of phoenix?

g--ff (gcannon), Saturday, 6 March 2004 03:22 (twenty-one years ago)

it's really hot and dry, which some people think is cool.

Also, The Orb's "Little Fluffy Clouds" to thread.

donut bitch (donut), Saturday, 6 March 2004 03:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Why doesn't anyone move to Milwaukee?

kirsten (kirsten), Saturday, 6 March 2004 03:25 (twenty-one years ago)

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Saturday, 6 March 2004 03:26 (twenty-one years ago)

donut bitch (donut), Saturday, 6 March 2004 03:27 (twenty-one years ago)

the question is... how many people's houses in Oly did you NOT want to egg?

donut bitch (donut), Saturday, 6 March 2004 03:28 (twenty-one years ago)

"Seattle was too cold for them, and they think there was some physiological issue they had with being in this type of climate."

I would probably hate it too, if for the humidity, 'cuz really, it ain't THAT cold, but still. Pussahs. Yea, heh...I almost forgot 'bout a curious incident on my way home (typical night). On my way back from the 7-11, the coppers were getting nasty with some dude for not turning his car lights on out on the street, while the local bookstore, which I happened to be walking by, and btw, is already bankrupt, had been broken into. I even looked inside I thought it so weird the backdoor glass was all cracked like that. As soon as I crossed the avenue, some guy came out and occupied the looking post. Smooth operata. Further down this avenue, right on the corner of my street, there were a buncha cops getting drunk at the pub. Like the good citizen I am, despite being hesitant, I didn't report anything. Knowing the cops here they would have probably arrested me instead. All this in the space of ten minutes.

Francis Watlington (Francis Watlington), Saturday, 6 March 2004 03:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Francis, you never heard about the infamous West Olympia shopping mall incident.

donut bitch (donut), Saturday, 6 March 2004 03:44 (twenty-one years ago)

here

donut bitch (donut), Saturday, 6 March 2004 03:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Francis, where do you live? jesus...

donut bitch (donut), Saturday, 6 March 2004 03:45 (twenty-one years ago)

DB, I am NJ-ing this weekend, but next weekend or so we will have to have a mini Seattle FAP to keep you from feeling too lonely. All I can whine about at the moment is Matos moving away from my neighborhood. :-(

So. Green Cat? Thai? what weekend? what are seattle ILXors doing next weekend? =)

lyra (lyra), Saturday, 6 March 2004 03:47 (twenty-one years ago)

wanna see the Cripples tonight at the Hideaway? It's at the old Sit N' Spin location.. (it's in fact what took Sit N' Spin's place), which is just blocks away from you...

donut bitch (donut), Saturday, 6 March 2004 03:52 (twenty-one years ago)

I'll probably be recovering from wisdom teeth removal and/or working at home... so next weekend might not be so good. :(

donut bitch (donut), Saturday, 6 March 2004 03:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I am catching a plane to Newark in a bit! else I would be zipping down. :-( They already opened something new in the Sit & Spin spot? I walked by the other day, I must be blind because I didn't notice.

Hmm, we should postpone until yr mouth is healed-- are they coming out this week? Lots of luck- and make sure you stock up on pudding cups beforehand. They're what I lived on for a few days when I had mine out.

lyra (lyra), Saturday, 6 March 2004 04:03 (twenty-one years ago)

HAHAHA...for some reason (probably since it involved Jess) I thought it would be intended for a certain Mr. C. J0hns0n.

Where do I live? Hell...commonly known as the Caribbean paradise getaway of S4N JU4N, PU3RT0 R1C0

Francis Watlington (Francis Watlington), Saturday, 6 March 2004 04:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Please don't tell! They'll come looking after me!

Francis Watlington (Francis Watlington), Saturday, 6 March 2004 04:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Progress Island, USA!

donut bitch (donut), Saturday, 6 March 2004 04:07 (twenty-one years ago)

I think i'm just going to rock out to this new Akimbo album non stop over and over and over again all night.

donut bitch (donut), Saturday, 6 March 2004 04:09 (twenty-one years ago)

we shall overcome

Note to people: STOP MOVING TO LONDON. WE WANT TO KEEP IT TO OURSELVES.

(Yeah, I was born 50 yards outside the M25, so what?)

The River Kate (kate), Saturday, 6 March 2004 10:25 (twenty-one years ago)

et tu Donut? A lot of my mates have pissed off to Sydney and Queensland...in the meantime, I can never get a seat on the bus because there are too many old farts!

regards,

REB

Note to people: STOP MOVING TO LONDON. WE WANT TO KEEP IT TO OURSELVES.

Move over, Kate. I already belong there;>

DB, cheer up. At least, you know you won't lose total contact with them. (Cell phones, wahey!) Good mates stay that way, no matter where they go. Besides, this makes room for the other cool people that want to stop by....

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Sunday, 7 March 2004 19:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I have the opposite problem. The last couple of times I went to London, I stayed with N. and Madchen and they have moved to Glasgow now. Which is nice, I guess, but slightly inconvenient should I wish accommodation in London.
