Archiecture/Urban Planning degree programs

I guess this is kind of a shot in the dark, but does anyone here know which US schools are noted for degree/graduate programs in either of these disciplines?

Thanks for your help.

rutgers has a very good urban planning grad. degree program.

though you'd have to put with new jersey ... and rutgers bureaucracy ... for at least two years.

I had to explore this a while ago, since I was thinking of going to an architecture / urban planning school. However, my architect friend is telling me that the politics in the industry are terrible, and if you don't get into Harvard or Columbia or that caliber of school, you're nothing. I hear nothing but sad stories coming out of that field.

Here ya go

I looked at some of these programs in the past (I was considering UVA), but I don't have in-depth knowledge of them.

Good luck.

if you don't get into Harvard or Columbia or that caliber of school, you're nothing.

this is b.s. from what i've heard -- as long as you go to an ASCP-accredited school, you're fine.

I once I had a dream of having an epiphany while browsing an academic book on urban planning, as in "haha - this is what i'm destined to do". It seemed so vivid that I've kept it in mind but I've never done anything to test it. What does one exactly do as an urban planner?

it looks like ASCP is for urban planning. is there something similar for architecture programs?

I spent one half of a semester at Cleveland State in their masters program. This is no knock on the program (actually there were some nice hands on projects) I just couldn't bear the thought of school ever again.

So what are the UK schools?

I heard Manchester and Westminster, or something.

i've heard that columbia's urban planning program is overrated and kinda mediocre, but i don't know anything about their public health program. my school (usc school of policy, planning, and development) offers that too, and i hear it's very good.

two years pass...

I would like to make a shirt that says

MORE PLANNING
LESS ZONING

Has this been done?

i'm shy (Abbott), Monday, 9 February 2009 23:19 (sixteen years ago)

Zoning is American for planning.
