This is the thread where you Google the name of your old nemesis from school to find out what happened to them

Back when I was a young lad, I would come home from school every so often, upset because I had been picked on by the bullies. My dad used to tell me (and quite likely he nicked this from someone else) not to worry, because in ten years' time, those same bullies would be either dead or in jail. It was a comforting thought at the time, but is it anywhere near true?

What happens if you use Google to try to locate the people that used to torture you back in your early school years? Are they better off than you? Are they dead or in jail? Are they now fronting major label bands?

Probably best not to use real names here, especially if you use this opportunity to taunt them back.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Friday, 12 March 2004 00:18 (twenty-one years ago)

1) playing minor league hockey
2) selling RVs
3) teaching kids the same age we were when he was threatening me on a regular basis (though apparently I've heard from someone else that he actually regrets it now, and if he's reading this: I forgive you, man.)

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Friday, 12 March 2004 00:21 (twenty-one years ago)

The only guy I actively feuded with at school has a friends reunited entry which reads "if you're using this you're obviously a geek, so feel free to get a life". I sent him one email noting how he still had no grasp of irony after all these years and now the feud is ended to my satisfaction.

Matt (Matt), Friday, 12 March 2004 00:23 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't have any nemeses (is that right?) from school. I recall two people who tried to bully me briefly, but I fought back and won and never had any more trouble. I was actually popular!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 12 March 2004 00:24 (twenty-one years ago)

junior qualified sfa coach. the fucker.

cozen (Cozen), Friday, 12 March 2004 00:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Hadn't occurred to me to do this before. He's SELLING USED CARS. I feel sort of vindicated.

Douglas (Douglas), Friday, 12 March 2004 00:29 (twenty-one years ago)

i wish i could remember the little fuckers name!!

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Friday, 12 March 2004 00:30 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't even remember their names, which is surely the finest revenge of all. (hah strongo, x-post)

the music mole (colin s barrow), Friday, 12 March 2004 00:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I know where mine goes to college. That's about it. Not enough time has passed to HEAL TEH WOUNDS.

Francis Watlington (Francis Watlington), Friday, 12 March 2004 00:32 (twenty-one years ago)

The biggest asshole i knew in high school died on 9/11. He was a firefighter. All my friends from then who knew him (and also hated him) went totally soft - "maybe he'd changed since we knew him," "it's STILL a loss," "Gee, that's sad," etc. I say, one less asshole that probably would have given birth to an asshole who would have potentially date raped my daughter someday. Fuck his dead ass.

roger adultery (roger adultery), Friday, 12 March 2004 00:40 (twenty-one years ago)

roger, fucksake.

cozen (Cozen), Friday, 12 March 2004 00:42 (twenty-one years ago)

All my arch nemeses in high school had very common first and last names. :( Ah, who cares.

donut bitch (donut), Friday, 12 March 2004 00:46 (twenty-one years ago)

i couldn't find much on ****** ***** (that bitch), but google did turn up a post on a phish newsgroup!

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Friday, 12 March 2004 00:47 (twenty-one years ago)

You can be a brave, life-giving, running hellish risks guy...and still be an asshole. I'm not condemning the guy per se, I don't know him, but if Roger's right he sounds like he should be remembered honestly, good and bad.

As for me, I don't need to. His name is Bill Pate and at the tenth reunion I asked him about all that and he admitted it was mostly a bit of jealousy over me being a smart geek sort (which I was, more or less). We had a beer and a laugh and I hope he's doing great with his life!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 12 March 2004 00:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't know how to spell his last name. Schiziano or something like that. That fat fuck.

dave225 (Dave225), Friday, 12 March 2004 01:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Mine's going to Harvard. AAARGH.

Dan I. (Dan I.), Friday, 12 March 2004 01:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I had no friends or enemies in elementary and junior high school (hooray for being the invisible man) so this has never been an issue.

Elvis Telecom (Chris Barrus), Friday, 12 March 2004 01:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Noone ever really bullied me. I don't know why. I think I was just kind of invisible or something.

ipsofacto (ipsofacto), Friday, 12 March 2004 01:10 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm tempted to check up on them on a high school reunion page, which would be a moot gesture since there's no way in hell I'm going back to any reunions (all the way back in IL anyway) unless I can show up like that one dude did at the end of Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion, ha. actually, even then, fuck Woodstock High School.

Gear! (Gear!), Friday, 12 March 2004 01:13 (twenty-one years ago)

On the other hand, plenty of my enemy's writing is online and it's clear that he's a complete dick, an idiot, and has totally exploited his cultural identity to get where he is.
Really, it's true, this isn't just spoiled grapes.

Dan I. (Dan I.), Friday, 12 March 2004 01:15 (twenty-one years ago)

sour grapes. whatever. sigh.

Dan I. (Dan I.), Friday, 12 March 2004 01:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I got an invitation to my school reunion the other day. Just in time so I can go back and all those posh fuckers can show off about how much fun their daddy's money bought them and I can be like "yeah, I packed my job in after a huge fit of depression and now I have no job and am poor - BUT I'M STILL A BETTER PERSON THAT YOU WILL EVER BE".

Needless to say, I'm not going.

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 12 March 2004 01:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Apparently he ran the Bay to Breakers 8 years ago. I someone told me he works as a gas station and as a bar-back on weekends, but that was probably a year or two ago.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Friday, 12 March 2004 01:19 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't want to Google the name of my high school bete noire, because she will turn out to be involved with something for the Bush reelection campaign, and I don't want to give its site the extra hit.

j.lu (j.lu), Friday, 12 March 2004 01:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Fucker. The weird thing is I saw the episode of Third Watch where he got smoked and didn't even realize it was him.

bnw (bnw), Friday, 12 March 2004 02:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, I've done this. I'll admit it. I googled the oil company exec's (see Ivy League thread) daughter. She had been getting B's and C's and was having trouble in pre-med, so she switched to business in her senior year. All she did was whine about how hard college was...especially those lit classes where you had to read books and stuff.

I was dismayed to find that she is now a surgeon! I wish I could warn her patients - she may try to steal an organ or two and sell them on the black market! Bitch. Life is not fair. She used to have an addiction to Dexatrim, so now maybe she's taken to stealing prescription drugs.

I also googled the guy who beat me up and routinely made disgusting sexual comments to me during my freshman year of HS. I was kind of hoping he'd end up in prison like his dad, but he's selling State Farm insurance. His picture's on the web, too, and he still looks like Orphan Annie.

The third bitch who tormented me I can't find. Must have gotten married.

Kerry (dymaxia), Friday, 12 March 2004 02:23 (twenty-one years ago)

in fact, the only guy in my high school class I remember (and who I thought was COOL) ended up being the host of the short lived MTV series "Singled Out".

donut bitch (donut), Friday, 12 March 2004 02:29 (twenty-one years ago)

One I can't google coz his name was (i shit you not) "Collin Powell"
The other apparently is studying in med school at UCSD after graduating Duke. (although he went from nemesis to "decent guy who i sorta know" somewhere around 10th grade)

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Friday, 12 March 2004 02:49 (twenty-one years ago)

I know what happened to one of my nemeses - my ex-best friend from yr 12 - I found out after I moved interstate that she did too some years later after being overseas, and was living about 3 streets from me. Gah, talk about freaky. I havent seen her since though which is a good thing.

Another girl I didnt much care for in school is now a staff writer for the Australian newspaper, which just about says it all really (if you know the paper, which is vaguely centre-right and pompous in tone).

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 12 March 2004 03:45 (twenty-one years ago)

HAHAHAHAHA "Colin Powell"!!!!

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Friday, 12 March 2004 03:51 (twenty-one years ago)

one thing in common w/ a LOT of grade school assholes ... THEY END UP SELLING INSURANCE. remember that the next time yer auto insurance, life insurance, or health insurance premiums/co-pays go up.

theinsuranceindustrySUCKSbär (llamasfur), Friday, 12 March 2004 04:11 (twenty-one years ago)

in a backhanded kind-of-way, one of my worst high-school enemies ended up helping me out during one of the worst times in my life. it was right after i'd been suspended for college for bad grades and dumb shit, and wondering whether i'd even go back -- i was at a party in my hometown, and he was there. somehow, we'd started to talk about what was going on in our lives. when i told him my story, he said that i should go back to school, that i was too smart to not get a college degree (and that i was too smart to have done the dumb shit that got me into trouble in the first place), and that when i went back i should apply myself there like i did in high school. i still don't know if all of this was some sort of back-handed continuation of our high-school feuds, or some sort of "tough-love." (i suspect the latter, only because he was never really sneaky or conniving, he was more of a blunt bully and not a weasel.) whatever his motives, after i thought about it i did appreciate that he did have that talk with me.

oh yeah, i understand that these days he's married, has kids, and owns a plumbing business somewhere in pennsylvania.

Eisbär (llamasfur), Friday, 12 March 2004 04:22 (twenty-one years ago)

(nb: when the foregoing occurred, i was already on the rebound and was pretty certain [though not 100%] that i'd go back to school. but considering that many of my college and high school friends had either not said much of anything at that time, or had egged me on in blowing off class and partying, the fact that SOMEONE had something to say meant a bit to me. even if it was a high-school enemy.)

Eisbär (llamasfur), Friday, 12 March 2004 04:25 (twenty-one years ago)

though i am not proud to say it, there were a few kids that i tormented in grade school. one kid in particular i remember -- for as long as i'd known him (from 2d grade through the 5th grade), he had really bad body odor. dunno why -- he came from a good, well-off family. anyway, because he smelled he used to get teased MERCILESSLY by just about everyone (including me). one day, me and a bunch of my other 5th grade friends decided that we would tease him until he cried -- and, i'm ashamed to say it, we succeeded. i didn't get in trouble for it, but all through high school i always felt VERY guilty about what i'd done to the kid and always tried to make amends. (he also didn't smell bad during high school.) throughout high school, he was always kinda geeky and was really into computers. i'd like to think that he ended up in sillicon valley making $$$ (before the dot.com bust, anyway).

Eisbär (llamasfur), Friday, 12 March 2004 04:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Sounds like you need to be the one to start the other thread I was thinking of starting alongside this one: This is the thread where you Google the names of the people you used to beat up, make sure they're okay, and then apologize.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Friday, 12 March 2004 04:46 (twenty-one years ago)

saw one on Friendster recently. His number of friends barely reached double digits. Wasn't surprised.

hstencil, Friday, 12 March 2004 05:09 (twenty-one years ago)

shes doing theatre stuff.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Friday, 12 March 2004 05:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I never really had a nemesis, but I was always inexplicably linked/feuding with this girl, whose life is apparently as full of horseshit as mine!

Allyzay, Friday, 12 March 2004 06:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Alison B/-\NGERTER?

I can already see why she might have been been callous, with a last name like that.

donut bitch (donut), Friday, 12 March 2004 06:09 (twenty-one years ago)

I have no idea what any of the people who used to make my life miserable are doing, nor do I feel any real inclination to search around online to figure it out. It's not like it would be easy to pick them out from the search results. I just typed in the name of one of the more particularly nasty kids and there were like eight different people by that same name who popped up, none of whom I'm sure of would be the person I was thinking of. But anyway....

Many Coloured Halo (Dee the Lurker), Friday, 12 March 2004 06:18 (twenty-one years ago)

She wasn't callous! She was crazy! She had me called into the principal's office once to have a "heart-to-heart" with her about why I was no longer her best friend and why I was so mad at her and, honestly, I had no idea we ever were more than vague acquaintances in drama club, I just knew she seemed alright and she kept crushing on my guys for some reason. I really wasn't mad at her though, in fact I barely really spoke to her at all other than just pleasantries and casual chat! It was bizarro.

Allyzay, Friday, 12 March 2004 06:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Mine's teaching philosophy at St. John's College in Maryland. I'm not bitter. at ALL.

Donna Brown (Donna Brown), Friday, 12 March 2004 06:22 (twenty-one years ago)

My ex-boyfriend, I mean. Had I not been so bitter I would've read the thread title correctly. Damn.

Donna Brown (Donna Brown), Friday, 12 March 2004 06:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Not my nemesis, but

I am currently living in the Bay area of Califonia. I moved here to study massage therapy at the National Holistic Institute. The program of study is a year long, and I am now halfway done with my studies. The course is broken down into a 'Western' and 'Eastern' segment. I have completed my studies in Western massage, specifically I have learned Swedish massage, deep tissue, sports massage, and reflexology (to name a few). I got an A on my final exam for the first semester. Also, received a 'letter of excellence' from the dean for my 3.83 GPA and excellent attendance :) I am very pleased with my decision to train to become a massage therapist; I have found my calling (at least for the next few years) I just started my Shiatsu training.

Mary (Mary), Friday, 12 March 2004 07:36 (twenty-one years ago)

am i weird for not having a nemesis in high school?

cinniblount (James Blount), Friday, 12 March 2004 07:44 (twenty-one years ago)

i hope this isn't him:

MICHAEL JERKINS THIS NIGHT, HE WAS SHOT IN THE FACE AND IS IN BAD SHAPE, NEEDS PRAYER FOR HIM AND FOR ALL HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS THAT THEY BE COMFORTED IN THE LORD. THE YOU GIRL STEPH, WHO IS A GOOD FRIEND ALSO NEEDS A TOUCH AND REVELATION FROM GOD. SHE IS NEAR TO FALLING FROM HIS LOVE IF HE DOES NOT ACK SOON. PLEASE LIFT THEM ALL UP. AMEN

Robert Ferrari, who used to stick bubblegum in my hair on the school bus in Montreal, is now Vice President of an environmental impact studies concern, studying oil spills, land fills and waste management. I couldn't have passed better sentence myself.

Momus (Momus), Friday, 12 March 2004 08:58 (twenty-one years ago)

all the people that i used to get into fights with became my friends after the whole school started smoking weed

Pablo Cruise (chaki), Friday, 12 March 2004 09:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't need to Google her - after a random meeting at a party a few years ago she started fucking one of my best friends. Then he cheated on her and really ruined her life. I felt kinda sorry for her.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 12 March 2004 09:29 (twenty-one years ago)

But not that sorry...

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 12 March 2004 09:29 (twenty-one years ago)

nonames... Saw him begging on the street.. asked me for a fiver... Don't think he recognised me.. (Maybe he did?)... < / pathos >

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 12 March 2004 10:04 (twenty-one years ago)

If it's him it looks like the poor fuck's become a Datsuns' fan

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Friday, 12 March 2004 10:12 (twenty-one years ago)

That extra ''s cos he still makes me nervous as does the idea of Datsuns fans

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Friday, 12 March 2004 10:14 (twenty-one years ago)

She's in Facilities Management whatever the fuck that is. Hope she trips over a girder or something and breaks her nose, then she won't be able to look down it at people any more.

Archel (Archel), Friday, 12 March 2004 10:18 (twenty-one years ago)

They were technically my friends, so I know. It ws kind of like Heathers.

Anna (Anna), Friday, 12 March 2004 10:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Mine's got too common a name, and he shares it with a computer magazine publisher, therefore he is google proof. He's probably selling insurance anyway.

Donna, if you're talking about Abe S., I'm gonna laugh until I die. When did he become a tutor?

Colin Meeder (Mert), Friday, 12 March 2004 10:31 (twenty-one years ago)

The person who was a particular weasel at senior school (she joined in the second year and thought attempting to take the piss out of me was a good subsitute for engaging the affection of the class through being, oh, interesting or funny. It didn't really work) I don't need to google, and anyway I very much doubt she's made any impact on the interweb: I saw her working in the H Samuel shitty jewellers in Chatham when I was back there briefly a couple of years ago. It was pretty sweet.

No-one else was really horrible to me, but there was kind of constant low-grade sniping because I answered questions and got the teachers' rubbish jokes. I rose 'above' it and became a music geek. It's kind of satisfying to realise that I've forgotten the majority of names from people in my year.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 12 March 2004 10:33 (twenty-one years ago)

I just tried to google about five of them and zip, no, nothing, jack. Obscurity suits them, let me tell you.

suzy (suzy), Friday, 12 March 2004 10:37 (twenty-one years ago)

I did that name on google. Nothing. Not even 'fiends' reunited.

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 12 March 2004 10:41 (twenty-one years ago)

When did your ex become a tutor, I mean, as I know when Abe S. became a tutor.

Colin Meeder (Mert), Friday, 12 March 2004 10:57 (twenty-one years ago)

none of them turned up shit on google hahahaha losers!

mullygrubber (gaz), Friday, 12 March 2004 11:24 (twenty-one years ago)

The only person matching the relatively unusual name of my nemesis at school (he wasn't much of one, but I hated him even *before* he copped off with my then-girlfriend) is a tax lawyer in Jersey. He always was a slimy cunt.

Markelby (Mark C), Friday, 12 March 2004 11:41 (twenty-one years ago)

i forgot about them the day after i left. my nemesis was kind of school itself. i couldnt even tell you the names of anyone at school now

gareth (gareth), Friday, 12 March 2004 11:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Google turns up nothing. I know that the father of the worst bully committed suicide the summer after we left school, but I wouldn't wish that on anyone, even her.

Madchen (Madchen), Friday, 12 March 2004 11:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Appearing on Broadway in King Lear. Shit.

The Huckle-Buck (Horace Mann), Friday, 12 March 2004 14:51 (twenty-one years ago)

My class didn't have a ten-year reunion, but we did have a charity game in which my basketball team from ten years prior played the current high school team. We crushed those youngsters, I played well, and then at the bar afterwards my nemesis (who works for his dad's trucking company) drunkenly told me that everyone envied me for getting out of town and doing what I wanted with my life, etc.

I WON HIGH SCHOOL

mookieproof (mookieproof), Friday, 12 March 2004 15:46 (twenty-one years ago)

I googled mine (Sus1e Charo or Charro) and only got this:

"Charo is a large, big boned full Bolivian female. She has good conformation, and has flashy black and white fiber. She has dark mascara surrounding her wonderous eyes. Her face is adorable. She has a quiet disposition and has never given me a minute of trouble. she is a wonderful llama and would be a great asset to any farm."

!!!

http://pages.ripco.net/~dymaxia/asshole.jpg

Sadistic Asshat has a solid background in banking, flood determinations and insurance. He is currently one of our Regional Marketing Managers and markets our lender-placed hazard and flood compliance services directly to financial institutions in the Central United States.

Prior to joining our firm, Sadistic Asshat's experience included six years in sales and marketing for leading financial institutions across the country. He holds a BS in Finance from Crappy State University.

It may seem mean, but this guy was really, really cruel. He made a point of tormenting me every day. It often made me physically ill. He stole my bookbag and threw it out the window and under the wheels of the bus as it was moving. I never got it back (the bus driver wouldn't stop) and my family did not have a lot of money. He also used to lift girl's skirts up and try to grab their crotches. I'm surprised he didn't end up in jail for sexual assault.

Kerry (dymaxia), Friday, 12 March 2004 16:18 (twenty-one years ago)

am i weird for not having a nemesis in high school?

Oh, not at all. I mean, I really didn't either per se, though he did annoy me, though that was actually mostly middle school.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 12 March 2004 16:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Donna, if you're talking about Abe S., I'm gonna laugh until I die. When did he become a tutor?

The ex became a tutor in 1998, but he is not Abe S., sorry. You can still laugh, though :)

Donna Brown (Donna Brown), Friday, 12 March 2004 16:44 (twenty-one years ago)

the closest thing i had to a nemesis is apparently not worthy of mention as far as the internet is concerned.

dyson (dyson), Friday, 12 March 2004 16:58 (twenty-one years ago)

I had a couple people who always fucked with me, but Google didn't turn up anything except a credit under a photo of some corny-ass Twin Cities indie-twee musician. It wasn't a very good photo, either.

There was one guy who I used to be perpetually annoyed with (though nowhere near a nemesis), but eventually we turned out to be decent-enough friends, and he wound up on Comedy Central a few times. Another more-annoying-than-evil dude who harangued me with unfunny penis jokes is (assuming he's the same guy) now making independent films.

Nate in ST.P (natedetritus), Friday, 12 March 2004 17:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Mine is not listed. But I did see him at a college graduation party about 5 years ago and a fight broke out and he drew a gun. He's a marine now and in Iraq last I heard. I hope he stays there.

Chris 'The Velvet Bingo' V (Chris V), Friday, 12 March 2004 17:29 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't think of an actual nemesis. I could google people I was convinced hated me, but I'm not gonna waste time on that.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 12 March 2004 17:32 (twenty-one years ago)

The one person that I am thinking of has a really common name so a google search is kind of worthless. I did see her at a street fair about a year or so ago and she looked like a smug, constipated soccer-momish bitch.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Friday, 12 March 2004 18:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Possibly a partner in a firm of architects. Bastard.

zebedee (zebedee), Friday, 12 March 2004 18:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Didn't really have any nemeses I guess, not after the age of 11 or so, I was alot more smart assed in secondary school so I got on fine.

The pre 11 nemeses? I see them regularly in the pub, they're fairly good friends now.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 12 March 2004 18:59 (twenty-one years ago)

She was only my nemesis for a brief period, but:

"She regularly plays her original material at several of the most respected acoustic venues in the area. X is also finalizing a deal to have her music added to the national in-store playlist and retail racks for the prestigious Starbucks coffee house chain."

Insomniette, Saturday, 13 March 2004 01:13 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm not in touch with a soul from high school anymore but one of my better friends from that time is apparently now a sales rep for molson. another is a realtor. both still live in my hometown.

Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy:

PJ Miller (PJ Miller), Saturday, 13 March 2004 21:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't need to Google the first one up because he's been in the localpaper a couple of times following his arrests (one for an attempted break-in and the other for being drunk and disorderly). The second one works for an arms manafacturer. This is strangely apt.

Chriddof (Chriddof), Sunday, 14 March 2004 02:13 (twenty-one years ago)

kid who bullied me in middle school/high school is dead now. he graduated a year before me, and was drunk at a party, hit his head on the sink and just fucking died. ouch.

another kid who picked on me frequently is still alive, but his dad died.

Ian Johnson (orion), Sunday, 14 March 2004 02:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Your search - " *** ****** " - did not match any documents.
Yaaay! He's so irrelevant that even Google has no entry on him.
