As a response/rejoinder to the idea that the Leicester Soccer Scandal and the Dogging story.

And as an aside to the 'Nemesis' thing too.

I never really subscribed to this. Yeah, I dug Beatles, then Jam, then etcet. but I never regarded them as role models, or even wanted to be them.

The idea that the footballers have let their young fans down is the least of it for me, as
(1) Stans biz is his own affair and he's hurting no-one but himself and his nearest/dearest. If the papers were so worried about kids following his example, they could have just refrained from reporting the story..
(2) the whole roasting scenario shows that sports 'stars' with too much money and no responsibility abuse their power, and as the saying goes, this comes as no surprise.

Does anyone else think that if the football clubs want the benefits of employing 'role models' (sales of replica kits etc), they should employ chaperones for their team and send them to bed early?

Me, I could not care. Take no role models, I say. Most of these men sink like subs...

Role models are classic. Surely kids pick role models of people that they want to be like? And as soon as their role model stops being like who they want to be, they stop using them as such? (I can only talk from my own experience here, though I'm sure I'm not the only one who throught someone was great, and then got rubbish so I tossed them out like a common pygmy.)
