Like last year, if Kentucky had a true scorer, they would win in all. They play amazing defense at times and are overall quite solid, but their team shooting is very streaky.
I think it is pretty wide open to who is going to win it all.

Illinois well-represented though: Illinois, UIC, SIU, and DePaul. I guess we might as well claim Valpo too. That Illinois-UIC game should be great.

Do people really think that St. Joseph is THAT good? Come on, the A-10 isn't as competitive a conference as the MAC.

Best ILX-related NCAA moment = Teeny IMs me after the games yesterday, saying "dood your bracket is fuXor'd", assuming I had Kentucky & Stanford going to the F4 like everyone else. Ha ha ha! G-G-G-G-G-G G(Tech) UNIT! (Note: I am probably still fuXor'd.)

the officiating has sucked. i don't think it's been unfair, just bad. let's go duke!
― mookieproof (mookieproof), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 17:24 (twenty-one years ago)
But if you want BAD officiating, you should've seen the Women's Tourney game between Minnesota & UCLA. Minnesota's center (their best player) already w/ 4 fouls & about 3 minutes left in the game goes up for a rebound over the back of a UCLA player, comes down with the ball, then slips, loses the ball, & creams the Bruin she climbed. YOU MAKE THE CALL - was it traveling? or was it a blatant over-the-back foul? or MAYBE it was, as the ref saw it, a foul on the UCLA player for trying to box out?!!??!?!
That game was especially tough, as it was essentially a Gopher home game, yet UCLA (the lower seed) lead throughout. Up until that point, that is. Yeah, there's a point where you just have to suck it up & just win baby, but it'd be nice if the officials didn't take such an active role in passive-agressive turning-point management.

I am amending my description of Delonte West. His expression isn't "blank", it's "serene."
After looking at the scenario generator, I have TOTALLY changed my tune about OK State. The ONLY way that I can win this joint is if OK State wins it all. So, Duke and OK State, don't let me down. GO GO GO!

I've got a BAAADDD feeling about Duke. I really, really don't want them to win it all. I've got issues with those people.
St. Josephs is a better team than I gave them credit, that back court is about as good as it gets in the NCAA. Take out this year, the A-10 still hasn't done much in the tournament in the past ten years.
― earlnash, Sunday, 28 March 2004 03:48 (twenty-one years ago)

as collegiate titans go, i think duke is a relatively pleasant one to be suffering under. miami football - now there's a program worthy of your schadenfreude.
anyone else think the tv timeouts make these games very nearly unwatchable?
― John (jdahlem), Sunday, 4 April 2004 04:29 (twenty-one years ago)
It is always great watching Duke lose, in a way even better the further into the tournament they go, the big risk is that they just might win it all.
haha, yeah - this is so OTM. Loved it when they lost to UConn the first time. That 9 point spread or whatever was a joke.
if duke wasn't the underdog, it might've been ok.
Yeah, and how about the fact that Duhon's meaningless desperation three at the end meant UConn didn't cover!! A lot of guys wanting to commit suicide right now....
Pretty sure they haven't added anything beyond the standard couple of set TV timeouts. But what they are doing - every time there is a 30 second timeout they go to commercial. Whereas they used to discuss the game, fill time, set the scene, etc.. Now they try to weasel in a quick 30 second commercial. It's totally annoying.

What a dud of a game. How did Ok State lose to GT? Weird.
What's up with "M.O.P."? Does that mean "most outstanding player"? Is that like some stupid NCAA shit? LIke, "OK, CBS, we'll let you pay us TEN BILLION dollars to broadcast the tournament, but you must agree not to use the wordage 'most valuable player'. Because here at the NCAA, we don't approve of monetary equivalences in reference our young athletes."
