my Friday night plan involves getting drunk with some friends, watching Cold Creek Manor on DVD, and then going out, drinking some more, and dancing to late '70s punk tunes. How will my evening end?

Things are not looking good right now, and it's only 9:46 am. Another in an ongoing series of "bad movie + drinking and carousing" Fridays. Am I wasting my life?

It'll be more fun if you start drinking NOW.

Actually, carry out all your plans in complete reverse.

I also might go out drinking with co-workers at a happy hour because it's my last day on the job WITH NO OTHER ONE IN SIGHT. haha drinking should indeed begin now.

Pablo Cruise (chaki), Friday, 12 March 2004 18:37 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't know the place, but I'm told it's in Hollywood and that the giant from "Big Fish" is often spotted there.

Is Bang! tonight?

dean! (deangulberry), Friday, 12 March 2004 18:47 (twenty-two years ago)

I know Bang! and that's Saturdays I think. I've gone there a couple of times and I always feel really, really old. But not as old as the awkward guy I've seen there both times who stands by himself, checking out the 18yr olds. he's about 50 and looks like a less cool Eric Bachmann.

So how did your evening end?

jel -- (jel), Saturday, 13 March 2004 11:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Well Cold Creek Manor was almost insanely bad. For some reason we thought it would be a horror film, not a "Straw Dogs"-wannabe with Stephen Dorff in the Dustin Hoffman role. All I learned from this film is: girls be dumb and if you hit them they'll fall into line, plus they all cheat on you in the end. The other one was "Ghost Rig", which was a Scottish film about a haunted oil rig. Well not really haunted. The story was more along the lines of "The Thing". It had a very good last 15 minutes preceded by a mediocre 75 minutes.

then I went out to this place called Goldfinger's, which did not play punk rock music. Lots of big '80s hits, plus "Hey Ya!" Then I came home and collapsed facedown on my bed, listening to the Russians next door listen to Tatu, which I thought was a little too obvious, but somehow it assured me that tomorrow would be better.

CCM also gave me an idea for a new series called "Dorff on Golf", which I will further explain at a later date.

I'm trying to determine the level of sarcasm in your last sentence there.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 13 March 2004 16:34 (twenty-two years ago)

i warned you about cold creek manor!

s1ocki (slutsky), Saturday, 13 March 2004 16:35 (twenty-two years ago)

You did warn me, it was worse than "The Order", plus it was 121 minutes long =(

x post I'm already in negotiations with Stephen Dorff. Watch this space...
