Interested enough to keep watching, but I'm disappointed too.

This was okay, though I was perturbed to hear that the lead actress apparently was just like me. I must give off more of a Daria vibe than I thought.

God! We've got like three good players on the team. I'm one of them, thank God. I scored twice though. I scored because I got fouled and, because I can run so fast, I rebounded the ball and scored again.

Set against the backdrop of Niagara Falls, WONDERFALLS is a funny, provocative and magical one-hour dramedy about JAYE TYLER (CAROLINE DHAVERNAS), an underachieving twenty-something souvenir shop worker whose life is forever changed after she has what her family calls “an episode.” That’s when inanimate animal figures – toys, cartoon images, anything in the form of an animal – begin talking to her, and their cryptic messages set into motion a chain of events that invariably lead her into the lives of others in need. Described by its creators BRYAN FULLER (“Star Trek: Voyager”) and TODD HOLLAND (“Malcolm in the Middle”), with tongues firmly in cheek, as “Touched by a Crazy Person,” the series focuses on Jaye as she meddles in, muddles up, and ultimately betters the lives of herself, her eccentric family of overachievers, and the eclectic variety of strangers that cross her path. Over the course of this series Jaye will discover that the world around her really is a magical place, and that the seemingly random events in her life are actually all part of something much greater.

It's also weird enough that I have no idea what audience they thought they would get - they would have to soften it and slow it down to get a bigger or more family-based, Gilmore Girls-type audience, and they throw around sexual situations and words like "bitch" and "ass" enough that they're not trying to make a kid's show.
But it's such a sweet, weird show - I doubt it'll survive the rest of the year but I really hope it does.

It debuted to about the same half-assed ratings that Boston Public was getting. I'm also noticing that some of the people I'd expect to love it sound lukewarm. But I dunno, I dug the shit out of it.

just finished rewatching all of this show for the first time since 2005. it really was a marvelously funny, engaging, weird show, and took some interesting turns toward the end. the chemistry between the cast was amazing, too. really wish we'd gotten to see what happened next.
any suggestions for other shows kinda similar in tone to this one?

yeah, love this show
Bryan Fuller's other two shows, Pushing Daisies and Dead Like Me, are definitely worth watching, although Wonderfalls is my favorite of the 3.
