'cuz i've come to the decision that i can both lessen the amount of crap around here AND raise funds for my eventual moving sometime this year by hawking my eight longboxes of comics.

has anybody ever gone about this? should i go for ebay? get a table at the next Motor City ComiCon? What?

If you don't care about maximizing what you get, a retailer might gobble them up if they're first prints.

first thing you need to do is lower your expecation of making any money

what do you have? and how much?

about 8 long boxes worth.

hell, i have every Jim Lee X-men ish ever done. that could be worth something. i'll have to flip thru the boxes when i get home tonight.

i'll probably hold on the Hellblazer issues until the movie comes out later this year. we'll see.

has the rise of reissuing popular storylines in trade format taken some of the whatever out of the collector's issue market?
I mean, it must certainly lessen the demand for a particular issue, perhaps? I don't know. I don't think I've ever understood the comic collecting side of things.

Just so you know, ebay isn't exactly wanting for comic books. or baseball cards or anything else for that matter. but if you know that you have stuff that is worth some dough it can be worth the time. otherwise, it might just be dribs and drabs of a couple bucks here, a couple bucks there. If you do ebay, you might want to consider doing lots of 10 or 20. just so you don't go completely postal/mental.

Comics = selling them fast/recommendations

Kingfish, for what it's worth I'm doing the exact same thing right now. Basically I'm grouping things in lots of 10-15 and am doing *relatively* well. Things are selling well enough to make the hassle worthwhile, but don't plan on actually paying for your move with the proceeds.

I've still got my huge box of comics, and haven't really thought of selling them yet. I've got tons of Groo comics (which I still read occasionally.) And plenty of Xmen, Batman, Spawn, and various others. Wizard prices many of them fairly high, but I doubt I/you could sell them near what Wizad says you can.
