I was at a wrap party for some film or other. Lenny Henry was there, and was genial and answering questions from all comers (I have it on good authority, he's a sourpuss in real life, anyway back to.. and my dad was one of the crew. Everyone was buying presents for each other, although as I was unexpectedly there, I was not part of this scenario apart from helping out Dad. (dad is estranged in real...) He had popped out to a shop, and when I got to the shop, he had put something out the back and wanted me to sort it out. It turned out to be a full coach and horses, which was a present for Michael Flatley, who was part of the next wrap party in two weeks. And then I woke up.

"Dream Theater" er um...

Last night I dreamed that we moved our bike shop to Nottingham, which was good, because business was better, but bad because the sea there was very stormy, and we were right next to it (nb nottingham isn't anywhere near the sea irl) This is very boring, I know, but copping off w/someone rather attractive was involved somehow, so it wasn't actually too bad ahem.

There was me and my mate Richard, and we found ourselves on a galleon on the Thames in the middle of Oxford.

"How much money have you got?" I asked Richard.

"About 60 quid." Richard asked incredulously, spitting the words out like a Communist Manifesto. "How much have you got?"

"About £500. Look, we can go anywhere, do anything, now that we've got a galleon."

So we resolved to go on a big adventure on this ship. If I was allowed to dream, no doubt I would have gone to all sorts of fun adventures in foreign climes, but my alarm went off, and I had to go to work.

Oh well.

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 16 March 2004 14:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Pashmina (Pashmina), Tuesday, 16 March 2004 14:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Theatre. We are English. So we spell it in, umm, French.

You are American. so you spell it in, umm, German.

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 16 March 2004 14:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Jordan is referring to the notorious US prog-metal band Mark. they are terrible for the most part.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Tuesday, 16 March 2004 14:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, I don't know them, I shall believe you. Just that the spelling was no uncoincidence...

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 16 March 2004 15:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Their singer's voice is the worst sound ever recorded to any format in the history of existence.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 16 March 2004 15:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I was watching Coheed and Cambria live and I was BORED. Someone stopped the show in freeze-frame stylee and said, "This MUSIC SUCKS! You know what would make it good? Fresh beats!" Then they restarted the show only with a fresh beats backtrack and people started dancing. Yay techno/Rush cover bands!

Donna Brown (Donna Brown), Tuesday, 16 March 2004 16:11 (twenty-two years ago)

There was a massive fire on the F line out by Stillwell Ave and in the aftermath the city decided to raze all of Coney Island, tear up the rides, the boardwalk, the beach, the projects, the junk stores, call in a landscaper and haul in some trees, and turn the whole mess into another anonymous "waterfront park" that might as well be in Canada for all anyone can tell.

I decided that was the last straw -- I got on a Greyhound and headed for France (in dreams, you can Greyhound across the Atlantic Ocean), with the intention of staying there for a year and eventually settling in Vancouver, B.C. The bus was packed with smelly French students and smelly American backpacker potheads. I saw my parents outside gazing at me disapprovingly, and then they were gone.

Nickalicious speaks the goddamn truth.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 16 March 2004 18:02 (twenty-two years ago)

the singer is a small irritant compared to the drummer. I MEAN JUST BECAUSE YOU HAVE TWO KICK DRUMS DOESN'T MEAN YOU HAVE TO PLAY THEM BOTH, AS FAST AS POSSIBLE, ALL THE TIME!!!!1 generally yer DT rekkid will have this whuffawhuffawhuffawhuffa sound underpinning it ALL THE WAY THROUGH. God they are rubbish.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Tuesday, 16 March 2004 18:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey Pash, here's an interview you'll love.

I mean, he's no Michael Sembello, but who is?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 16 March 2004 18:23 (twenty-two years ago)

close enough.

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 16 March 2004 18:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I dunno, I think heck, lets entertain folks with a mad dream, and all youse can do is talk about some rub band like it was ILM or something...

mark grout (mark grout), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 09:20 (twenty-two years ago)

It's like being on stage doing an acoustic number while the first three rows take the opportunity to chat loudly to each other.
