di, Monday, 22 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Menelaus Darcy, Monday, 22 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I was a 'member' of FOOM (Friends Of Ol' Marvel) many many years ago.

Andrew L, Monday, 22 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Oh the Lego Club. I have many gold badges signifying long years of membershipness. Greatest Lego moment = when I saw that man Mark Curry knocked the head off of on Blue Peter. Yay!

Bill, Monday, 22 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I was in the Puffin Club. The badge you got for that was the nicest badge I have ever owned.

Tom, Monday, 22 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I was in the rail rider's club and the Sheffield university mountaineering club, so a fan of trains and mountains

Ed, Monday, 22 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

puffin club!! forgot about that. story: the school organised puffin club (when I was about 9) and I ordered a cookery book. when the orders came in, my bastard of a teacher teased me for ordering a girly cookery book. bastard.

I learned many years later (I was 25 I think) that I'd got so upset, that my Dad went and "had words" with said teacher.

My Dad used to bake bread a lot, so I guess he took it personally in some way, that I'd been teased for copying him.

Alan Trewartha, Monday, 22 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I was in the Dennis The Menace fan club. I wish I'd been in the Puffin club though, having seen the badge my friend has.

Ally C, Monday, 22 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Puffin Club yay! I coveted a gold badge for founder memebers but the dates cock cd not be tampered with. I made a puffin glovepuppet out of felt but it was no good, because i got glue all over his nice virginwhite chest and he always looked manky

i also won a prize for code-breaking a la MelCaramel&radiohead, tho actually my mum did all the hard stuff

mark s, Monday, 22 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I used to be a member of the Dennis The Menace fanclub too. In fact, I guess I still am as I think it's life membership.

I still wear the badge, quite a bit actually.

jamesmichaelward, Monday, 22 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

showing his age - yes, dr hook, and puffin club

Geoff, Monday, 22 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Signed up to Suede's club around the time I started the mailing list, still there. The folks who run it are good'uns. Was in Ride's fanclub back in the early nineties. Beyond that, nope, at least not that I recall.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 22 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Oh yes! But I won't say which band. You can guess if you like. But if you get it right, I will probably deny it. ;-)

helen fordsdale, Monday, 22 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I was in Eno's 70s fan club. It was called Enovations. Cute, huh? They had special cut rate prices on Oblique Strategies, but I could never afford them at the time. I was also in the Patti Smith fan club, which was ace--they sent me posters for both Horses and Radio Ethiopia. I fought the good fight with Field Marshall Patti. And the Screamers fan club, even though I didn't actually get to hear them till 15 years later. They did send me lots of cool xeroxed photos of themselves, though. And the LA branch of the Ramones fan club. Kid Congo Powers was the president.

Arthur, Monday, 22 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

But, the Lego Club is a political party! he he!!

james, Monday, 22 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I nearly joined the Suede fanclub so I could go to the Christmas gigs, but then my friend joined and took me along with her so I didn't have to shell out.

I didn't think the Puffin Club was an actual club - I just remember ordering the books (the Ha Ha Ha Bonk Joke Book, anyone?)

Madchen, Monday, 22 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I forgot, I was in the Stamp Bug Club too. You could get a video with Michaela Strachan talking about the exciting world of stamps, but I never did. shame.

Bill, Monday, 22 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I definetely had the Ha Ha Ha Bonk Joke Book.

james, Monday, 22 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I feel so dreamy, I'm in love from above... when I'm picking up a falling star!

Sterling Clover, Monday, 22 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I was a proud member of the Dennis The Menace Fan Club too, so watch out you softies.

DG, Monday, 22 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I was a member of the Wham! fan club. And I went to pony club.

rainy, Monday, 22 October 2001 00:00 (twenty-four years ago)
