I had a copy of Dante's Inferno dropped off at my grad school apartment once.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 16:23 (twenty-two years ago)

I got a copy of Doctor Zhivago in the mail at work once from an admirer. I think.

The Huckle-Buck (Horace Mann), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 16:24 (twenty-two years ago)

I make a point of sending the good book to my spring crushes in the post.

N. (nickdastoor), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 16:24 (twenty-two years ago)

If they take the piss I remind them that they are among the damned.

N. (nickdastoor), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 16:29 (twenty-two years ago)

I sent a blank book to a beau, and he wrote his first (terrible, published) novel in it.

suzy (suzy), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 16:30 (twenty-two years ago)

*tries to guess what the book is*

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 16:33 (twenty-two years ago)

I picked out a book from the amazon wish list of someone I like, and had it sent to them last week. I think random kindnesses are great.

C J (C J), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 16:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Um, isn't 'Hangover Square' about a guy fantasizing about killing his chick?

Strachey, Wednesday, 17 March 2004 16:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Queen of the Damned.

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 17:00 (twenty-two years ago)

The first time I met Chr*s R*b*rts, so smitten was I that I gave him my copy of the selected poems of Frank O'Hara.

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 17:02 (twenty-two years ago)

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 17:04 (twenty-two years ago)

in the 3rd grade

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 17:04 (twenty-two years ago)

her parents then politely asked me to leave her alone or theyd call the cops

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 17:04 (twenty-two years ago)

it was more like a joke that you would send girl you're sweet on a book with word WHORE prominently displayed rather than an implied whatever of whatever, i just typed the word whore in to the amzon search engine.

give up your wacky baggage, strongo!

The Huckle-Buck (Horace Mann), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 17:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Jess, weren't you gonna send ME your Meltzer book? Pooky?

David R. (popshots75`), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 17:34 (twenty-two years ago)

avoid giving 'American Psycho'. sends a rather negative message to your crush.

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 17:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Okay then let me put it this-a-way. I am going to send mine one, and i want you to say what i should send. I am a boy, she is s girl. Nothing too dirty.

Shotbyanarrow, Wednesday, 17 March 2004 17:49 (twenty-two years ago)

especially if she's Iraqi.

xpost

The Huckle-Buck (Horace Mann), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 17:49 (twenty-two years ago)

I finished that meltzer book abt a week ago: his jazz/porn piece was great, the piece on Cage was very smart, many other highlights. Loved his stuff on the grateful dead, dolphy, bud powell and the attacks on the 'dean' and marcus were hilarious.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 17:53 (twenty-two years ago)

1) It is a bad idea. Talking to her is better. 2) If you are going to do it, make it a book *you* like or care about, not one you think will impress her. 3)

bnw (bnw), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 17:59 (twenty-two years ago)

3)

the lit equivalent of Root Beer Schnapps!

The Huckle-Buck (Horace Mann), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 18:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I say classic just because it would be nice to get a book from anybody.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 18:01 (twenty-two years ago)

On the other hand I don't think I'd give a book to someone because they'd probably laugh in my face at my taste in books.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 18:02 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm with nicole. everyone, feel free to send me books whatever the reason.

lauren (laurenp), Wednesday, 17 March 2004 18:03 (twenty-two years ago)
