Explain to me why 'Roar' with Heath Ledger even existed

I realize there's a general Heath Ledger thread and all, but let us contemplate this particular part of his career:

I mean, why?

Can a moderator please delete this thread? I'm perfectly content with not knowing what this "Roar" is, and I don't want to take the chance that this forbidden knowledge will destroy me.

Roar made me remember Melissa George, as she was also in the show. She's is the only celebrity who I have ever visited the homepage. I'm not proud, but I'm honest. She's luvverly.

I salute the courage of your convictions.

Hahaha I remember when this show came out, I thought for about maybe a nanosecond that it would be great. Then I remembered that I wasn't 8.

I just remember reading about it and thinking 'uh, no, no no no no.'

I remember turning on the telly late at night, and there she was. Last seen stepping out with Dieter Brummer and then he she was again. Swoon.

Wasn't there some sorta Power Rangers-ripoff/Roar-ripoff kinda thing that came out right after this?

Is that 'Xena?'

Lord Custos Omicron (Lord Custos Omicron), Friday, 19 March 2004 03:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Um, why did this come up in the first place? I had no idea Ned was a Heath watcher.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Friday, 19 March 2004 03:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Good lord, I'm not. But somebody said the word 'roar' on a thread and all of a sudden I remembered this thing. Like how you read "Kubla Khan" by Coleridge and eventually start thinking of Gene Kelly dancing around a disco pinball machine.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 19 March 2004 03:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Don't you mean "Xanadu?"

Lord Custos Omicron (Lord Custos Omicron), Friday, 19 March 2004 03:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Aaargh! I made my own brain hurt!

Lord Custos Omicron (Lord Custos Omicron), Friday, 19 March 2004 03:30 (twenty-two years ago)

I wish it was me.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Friday, 19 March 2004 03:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Also: I pretty sure I'm not hallucinating the whole Power Rangers/Roar ripoff thing.
I think it was called "The Mystics of Tir-nan-Og" but Google refuses to acknowledge this.

I used to think that show was hilarious, almost as funny as that sitcom about the medieval family.
I love studded leather too, there, I've admitted it

God, was that that Covington Cross thing? I dimly remember my SCA-addled apartment-mates getting all hyped about that in 1992...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 19 March 2004 03:38 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, I think that might have been the name. sure worked for me anyway. I loikes a bit of rough trade
