RFI: Leaving Huge Debts Behind in Foreign Countries

Anybody know anything about this situation? I mean to pay it off eventually, really. Just not now.

A lot depends on the bilateral agreements between the two countries involved. That's why USA embezzlers should always do their research before absconding.

I've done it. It bought me about four years of peace during which I got the money together. I was surprised that no one really even tried to find me during that time, but they didn't. When I was solvent again, I called up the creditors and all settled for much less than base amount owed + interest + late fees. My credit record is shot in the US, but I don't need a good US credit record.

*ahem* I have pretty much done this, leaving behind a gigantic credit card bill in the UK. Quite seriously, if anyone has any ideas of how I can pay it from over here/consolidate it and move it over here, I'd love to hear them. Yipes!
