Fuck it, I'm gonna say it. Uff, I'm so fucking tired of gays.

I don't have anything against gay people. I don't fucking care if you're gay, bi, hetero, whatever. But I'm so fucking tired of this shit. The VH-1 awards where everybody was talking about how cool the gays are, the queer eye for the straight guy, dumb gay marches where they shout the lamest slogans like "five, six, sven eight, eminem is full of hate!" (really, I know brit singer-songwriters that could write something better than that.), the straight celebs ding interwievs where they make a point by saying how much they admire the gay community. I'm just tired of it. I hope some gay people are tired of it too. My fried (who's gay) told me that he want's all thet fucking media frenzy to stop. "It's like constanly writing about how great a hair color is" he said.
Give it a rest, it's having the opposite effect. At least on me.

(George W. is a moron and gay people should have the right to marry. Just for the record.)

gimikz (gimikz), Thursday, 18 March 2004 18:47 (twenty-two years ago)

well, you're the one who's heart we were trying to win.

The Huckle-Buck (Horace Mann), Thursday, 18 March 2004 18:49 (twenty-two years ago)

"queer eye for the straight guy" can certainly go fuck itself. I'm not tired of gays (whatever that means), but I am tired of people saying "fabulous".

dave225 (Dave225), Thursday, 18 March 2004 18:51 (twenty-two years ago)

just wait till we get a gay president!

The Huckle-Buck (Horace Mann), Thursday, 18 March 2004 18:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Gee, apart from Queer Eye being a ratings success, I haven't exactly noticed a "media frenzy."

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 18 March 2004 18:52 (twenty-two years ago)

It's the international gay conspiracy!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 18 March 2004 18:54 (twenty-two years ago)

And what does "Uff" mean?

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Thursday, 18 March 2004 19:03 (twenty-two years ago)

wait, so are you tired of gay people on the whole, or the media culture around it, including political figures who try to gain media coverage by repeatedly publicizing such issues?

Kingfish Cowboy (Kingfish), Thursday, 18 March 2004 19:04 (twenty-two years ago)

I guess "media frenzy" would apply to the controversy over gay marriage, from Gavin Newsom in San Francisco to Bush's proposed constitutional amendment -- but that's actual NEWS with far-reaching social and political implications. And thus probably not what you're talking about.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 18 March 2004 19:07 (twenty-two years ago)

do you want a great blow job? let me know.

phil-two (phil-two), Thursday, 18 March 2004 19:12 (twenty-two years ago)

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Thursday, 18 March 2004 19:14 (twenty-two years ago)

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Thursday, 18 March 2004 19:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Who specifically was "talking about how cool the gays are" at the VH1 Awards?

I think this was 50 Cent, right?

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 18 March 2004 19:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Proof positive that the G.O.P.'s evil plot to make people tired of and eventually angry at gay people by saturing fringe media with shallow but postive caricatures of gay people is working !!!

J0hn Darn1elle (J0hn Darn1elle), Thursday, 18 March 2004 19:36 (twenty-two years ago)

If I hear one more boy-girl love song on the radio, I think I'm going to puke. I don't care if people want to have relations with people of the opposite gender, I just wish they'd keep it to themselves.

The Huckle-Buck (Horace Mann), Thursday, 18 March 2004 19:37 (twenty-two years ago)

"wait, so are you tired of gay people on the whole, or the media culture around it, including political figures who try to gain media coverage by repeatedly publicizing such issues?"

the media culture around it

"do you want a great blow job? let me know"

yes. it's been a while, to be quite honest.

"If I hear one more boy-girl love song on the radio, I think I'm going to puke. I don't care if people want to have relations with people of the opposite gender, I just wish they'd keep it to themselves."

funny. imagine hearing that song, and then hearing a liz taylor/justin timberlake/madonna interwiev where she/he tells the world how brave she/he thinks that song really is and how proud she/he is of the artist perfoming that song.

Queer Eye is the Flaming Lips of the "I have gay friends" set.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 18 March 2004 20:14 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm not following, Nick.

Queer Eye : "I have gay friends" :: Flaming Lips : ?

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 18 March 2004 20:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Thank you, John! But are we not just foisting more homosexuality on a public already sick of its prevalence, i.e. a couple of TV shows?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 18 March 2004 20:23 (twenty-two years ago)

I say make the whole world queer, shit.

Ask For Samantha (thatgirl), Thursday, 18 March 2004 20:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Is it because you find the bandwagoning to be insincere? or because you think gay issues are getting special treatment?

nick, I still haven't quite figured that out, but it's fabulous. Snaps..

So Sam and phil, who is Messalina and who is Scylla?

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Thursday, 18 March 2004 20:46 (twenty-two years ago)

do you know what
i am sick of queer eye for the straight guy, will and grace, the l word, and qaf, i am sick of their simplicity, lack of ambiguity, and sheer boredom.

im sick of gays too, and straights--i want everyone in the world to be queer, to be about performance, to be about what happens in realtion to other people, for sex to be more then genital interaction.

i will never be on television, i will never have my views of sex and desire broadcast on a light sit com (i can imagine it now, michel foccualt and monqiue wittig playing house in heaven) but also my parents sexuality, with the love that is not related to co habitation, or any of my friends, like my room mate and i sharing house...

anthony, Thursday, 18 March 2004 22:41 (twenty-two years ago)

On the one hand you hate TV for ironing out all the odd and dangerous ambiguities in life, and on the other hand, you're bitter that you'll never see a "light sitcom" that deals with those ambiguities (though let's face it, if there was one that tried, it wouldn't be a light sitcom anymore). I'm not exactly sure what you want, Anthony.

I've never seen a single episode of QEFTSG, TLW, or QAF (they just smell bad to me), but Will & Grace has made me laugh a number of times. The characters on W&G are obnoxious, silly, shallow, and narcissistic, which means they're pretty much like most of the interesting characters of every "great" sitcom of the last twenty-five years or so. (OK, that's a way broad characterization, but it's probably more true than not.)

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Thursday, 18 March 2004 23:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I read this as 'guys' and thought yeah, sometimes I am, too.

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 18 March 2004 23:32 (twenty-two years ago)

i want to be famous mike, like every other north american, ever.

anthony, Thursday, 18 March 2004 23:41 (twenty-two years ago)

I've pretty much figured that the fundie fear of "gay recruitment" is bullshit because if it was that easy, and knowing the kinds of people I'd piss off, I'd be on the gaywagon yelling "bring on the dick". I mean, if house music and sideburns and boot-cut pre-faded jeans and enthusiastic sarcasm haven't made me gay, it just ain't gonna happen.

(disclaimer: I'm drunk, so if you're offended, blame that.)

Nate in ST.P (natedetritus), Friday, 19 March 2004 02:55 (twenty-two years ago)

(haha "drunk")

Nate in ST.P (natedetritus), Friday, 19 March 2004 03:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Your wish to be gay is a superficial ploy to ward off the deep seated suspicion that you are, in fact, gay. Accept yourself Nate.

Siggy, Friday, 19 March 2004 04:58 (twenty-two years ago)

I can't be gay; I fuckin' hate musicals
