I've been getting a solid 9 hours of sleep every night this week, too. I'm in good health. But all I want to do is take a nap. Recommendations for regaining my alertness?

Exercise, definitely.

Broheems (diamond), Friday, 19 March 2004 00:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, get in what you can, even when it's simple. My routine is a brisk thirty-minute walk around campus during my lunch hour, which while not much compared to some routines is still good for getting out in the sun, getting some exercise in (I tend to walk pretty damn fast and UCI is very much laid out on an up-and-down area of ground) and otherwise breaking the monotony of sitting around all day.

Ive been drained lately too, and its really demoralising. Maybe Im not well, or I smoke too much I dont know. Now on top of all that I'm ill and all I want is for someone to bring me some miso soup and some painkillers. wahhh *sniff*

Trayce (trayce), Friday, 19 March 2004 00:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, if you must rub our noses in it, Ned, It snowed on and off here in VT today, My truck almost disappeared into the mud at one point. I had a flat driving home from work. Vermont lost to Connecticut. But, Ahh Yes, I got that two miler in this evening.

Exercise. Clears the mind of so much stress.

See, Jaymc, nothing stops this man! Jim outcools us all.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 19 March 2004 02:40 (twenty-two years ago)

I forgot to mention how much pain I'm in now.

jim wentworth (wench), Friday, 19 March 2004 02:45 (twenty-two years ago)

Hm, well, this is the pain that is earned through coolness, I guess. Uh, yeah.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 19 March 2004 02:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Or so many years of livin'!

Just for the record - for all the young dudes who were born, let's say post-JFK (The old bod just starts actin' up in ways that I never thought possible back when I was buying Hendrix or Zep tickets).
Hell, now I don't even think about climbing billboards just to besmirch some corporate message. I just want to retire and see the world and, maybe, draw a stache on the Mona Lisa. Well, that's a little unlikely, but hey, us old goats gotta have something to dream about.

jim wentworth (wench), Friday, 19 March 2004 03:45 (twenty-two years ago)

hmm, tiredness.
1. some believe you can snap out of/into it. ie, you can do some messages to self that ask if you're really tired, or just used to getting a little vague and bored.
2. everyone's blood/sugar gets low between 4-6pm. is it then you want to nap?
3. you eating enough? and are you eating meat? you don't have to, to be alert (obv.), but a coffee, cigarette, sugar diet makes one's energy levels highly variable.
4. sometimes, you just gotta give in and sleep, if that's what you want. sure, you mightn't think it's normal, or necessary, but if you can, then do it. it won't make you a bad person, and it will be a phase.

five years pass...

Oh God I feel like I'm just going to conk out at my desk. I can barely keep my eyelids open. Gah - this is awful!

some american borad (ENBB), Wednesday, 1 July 2009 19:08 (sixteen years ago)

I shouldn't complain, I only got five hrs of sleep. But I can handle it. Hey I had little to no sleep for over a year (thanks Elisabeth). Now that was goddamn awful.

Sookeh, I vant to suck your titties (stevienixed), Wednesday, 1 July 2009 19:19 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah but at least you had a cute little kid to keep you going? Maybe? I'm stuck at work and it's pouring outside and I just want to go home and go to bed. Wah!

(I shouldn't complain either it's my own fault but still . . . painful)
