People who wear "Cat in the Hat" hats: C/D?

Almost uniformly dud.

There may have been a nanosecond when these hats seemed irreverent and trippy, but their sheer ubiquitousness as the calling card of the attention-whoring drunk or druggie who wants to blow your mind with his/her uncomformity quickly ruined whatever truly whimsical quality that hat originally connoted.

The Huckle-Buck (Horace Mann), Friday, 19 March 2004 16:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Jamiroquai to thread.

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 19 March 2004 16:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Is there ANY situation in which these are OK? Besides a dramatization of Horton Hearts the Hooters or whateverthefuck?

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Friday, 19 March 2004 17:04 (twenty-two years ago)

"Hi, I just got back from Six Flags where I won the ring toss!"

jaymc (jaymc), Friday, 19 March 2004 17:10 (twenty-two years ago)

The early nineties revival has begun.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Friday, 19 March 2004 17:11 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm scared.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Friday, 19 March 2004 17:12 (twenty-two years ago)

The early 90s revival started in '96

The Huckle-Buck (Horace Mann), Friday, 19 March 2004 17:44 (twenty-two years ago)

But it's hip now.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 19 March 2004 17:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Strange that the funk/thrash/metal sound of the early 90's hasn't reared its ugly head again (Limbomanias, anyone?). Nobody seems very nostaligic for its return.

What are those sticks you twirl around? They go great with felt stovepipe hats and baggy shorts.

andy, Friday, 19 March 2004 18:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh my god stop now Andy I'm having Phish lot flashbacks.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 19 March 2004 18:22 (twenty-two years ago)

(ps those are often referred to as "devil sticks" dear god why do I know this? [and how to work them!?!])

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 19 March 2004 18:22 (twenty-two years ago)

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 19 March 2004 18:25 (twenty-two years ago)

What the fuck is that thing, a public toilet stall latch? A dog whistle? Actually it reminds me of the flow controller thing for a garden hose. Now the guy has the choice of either peeing a fine mist or a full on power spray on his mom.

Bryan B Sure (Bryan), Friday, 19 March 2004 19:20 (twenty-two years ago)

They sell Pint Of Guinness "twat hats" (for such is the nomenclature) somewhere in Ireland. I'm so very sorry. Though I'm even more sorry after the Google search.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 22 March 2004 11:09 (twenty-two years ago)

There was some Pompey twat at Fratton Park wearing one for the South Coast derby yesterday. The Sky TV cameras kept zooming in on him as well. He looked utterly fucked as well.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 22 March 2004 11:38 (twenty-two years ago)

The hats make the Pompey twats easier to ID when they go and break half of their own fucking city, after the game, EVEN THOUGH THEY WON! Jesus.

robster (robster), Monday, 22 March 2004 11:43 (twenty-two years ago)

The C in the thread title is short for "cunt", right?

Markelby (Mark C), Monday, 22 March 2004 18:25 (twenty-two years ago)

They were giving away "pint of Guinness" hats in all the pubs round here with every five pints of Guinness sold on St Patrick's Day. Presumably they worked out the optimum amount of alcohol required to ensure the punter thinking "I can wear this hat without looking a total cockfarmer". The barstaff seemed perplexed that I refused my free hat. Evidently, I hate fun.

ailsa (ailsa), Monday, 22 March 2004 18:30 (twenty-two years ago)

What's wrong with being a total cockfarmer?

latebloomer (latebloomer), Monday, 22 March 2004 20:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Or breaking half of your own city?

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Monday, 22 March 2004 20:33 (twenty-two years ago)

[can't be arsed to google for pics of stoned TWATS at glasto, being TWATS and weearing large felt hats, to prove what's so wrong about being a cockfarmer]

the thing with saying TWAT HAT is it usually has two glottal stops in the middle, thus sounding like TWA AT, which means you then have to stop and explain to people who don't know the word...
