This thread is like Amish porn.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 25 March 2004 18:11 (twenty-two years ago)

This is voyeuristic and shameful. And I mean that in a bad sense.

Markelby (Mark C), Thursday, 25 March 2004 18:13 (twenty-two years ago)

jel, there is now a London Craigslist [it's like Loot but online, i.e classifieds for anything and everything]

http://london.craigslist.org/

[craiglist is infamous in America for casual sex pick ups]

DJ Martian (djmartian), Thursday, 25 March 2004 18:19 (twenty-two years ago)

yet craigslist is famous in america for a lot of other things... that's kind of a weird judgement.

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 25 March 2004 18:20 (twenty-two years ago)

akin to: "ooh, horny people!"

SEX ON THE INTERNET!!!

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 25 March 2004 18:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, I've never associated craiglist with sex. I associate it with people selling used furniture and musical instruments.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 25 March 2004 18:22 (twenty-two years ago)

i just found this on craigslist:

an indicative example

New York "Casual encounters"

today is full of adult fun seekers
http://newyork.craigslist.org/cas/

DJ Martian (djmartian), Thursday, 25 March 2004 18:26 (twenty-two years ago)

If I saw a dating personal ad that said "silver jumpsuit a plus" I'd be ON IT.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 25 March 2004 18:27 (twenty-two years ago)

dj martian, that tells me more about you than it does about craigslist!

"ooh, casual sex!"

[cf, the person on one of the San Francisco threads with an equally odd fascination.]

that tells me more about your business offer last night.

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 25 March 2004 18:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Nope, still Amish porn.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 25 March 2004 18:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Craigslist is essential if you live in the bay area. Things I have found through CL:

A house
A job
Advice on writing and drawing your own comics
An 8mm camera

I know a guy who was too lazy to go the store and buy a six pick of cokes, so he used craigslist to get a coke gofer who gladly delivered them to his door in exchange for a few CDRs.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Thursday, 25 March 2004 18:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I bought an Arp String Ensemble through Craig's list. I also have had friends send fake missed connections to/about me, which is only mildly funny. Most annoying is when an ex-girlfriend's housemate told me "my roommate was really pissed off that you wrote that missed connection about her after you broke up, she thought it was annoying" when I hadn't written any missed connection at all. The only missed connection I ever wrote was quoting the lyrics to Neil Diamond's Solitary Man out of boredom.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Thursday, 25 March 2004 19:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I would have answered that ad.

I got a really nice microwave for $10 on craigslist. Surely it hasn't heated up my bedroom as much as the casual encounters list has, but it does wonders with ha gao from trader joes.

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 25 March 2004 19:18 (twenty-two years ago)

about a year ago it seemed to me that the most people who used craigslist were bay area expats, but after checking it out today it seems like alot of stuff has changed.

bill stevens (bscrubbins), Thursday, 25 March 2004 19:49 (twenty-two years ago)

one month passes...
wow, providence has a craigslist now

nineteen years pass...

Has anyone ever actually connected via 'Missed Connections'? I only know if from Craigslist

I was making eyes with someone at a show last night so I offhandedly checked it this morning - but no, there was nothing. I think men are probably like 300% more likely to post these ads than women

Andy the Grasshopper, Wednesday, 22 May 2024 00:39 (one year ago)

(this thread is pretty funny! 'what is craigslist?' 'it's for sex' lol)
