AKM just emailed me and was cornfused and then I realized I was cornfused too...

1pm at Specialties at 101 New Montgomery (@ Market)? There are like 7 in the financial district...

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 25 March 2004 18:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Surely you pronounce it 'sammich'

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 25 March 2004 18:30 (twenty-two years ago)

uh... okay...

but anyways, @d or Jax let me know the scoop.

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 25 March 2004 18:31 (twenty-two years ago)

It's tomorrow, right? New Montgomery and Market.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Thursday, 25 March 2004 18:37 (twenty-two years ago)

nice, just trying to make plans!

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 25 March 2004 18:37 (twenty-two years ago)

What's the confusion? Are you and AKM getting scatty in your old age?;)

(How was EE at TMOR?)

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Thursday, 25 March 2004 18:39 (twenty-two years ago)

I just forgot which one... I'll be passing like 4 other specialties on my way down there so I just wanted to make sure which one.

(C4TPA was last night, EE is tonight)

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 25 March 2004 18:40 (twenty-two years ago)

oh oh that's right. well how was that? Did he play new pop stuff?

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Thursday, 25 March 2004 18:41 (twenty-two years ago)

it was short, he forgot some of his patchcords so he had to make due with a short set. It was nice. You guys have similar tastes in music, you should chat him up some time.

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 25 March 2004 18:42 (twenty-two years ago)

We do? I should? Interesting.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Thursday, 25 March 2004 18:54 (twenty-two years ago)

hi gygax!

geeta (geeta), Thursday, 25 March 2004 18:59 (twenty-two years ago)

hi geeta! how's your article? are you feeling better?

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 25 March 2004 19:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I failed to say in the email that I meant tomorrow.

kyle, i don't get the map, but i've been there if it's any consolation

JaXoN (JasonD), Friday, 26 March 2004 22:57 (twenty-two years ago)

btw, was fun

JaXoN (JasonD), Friday, 26 March 2004 22:57 (twenty-two years ago)

i mean the sandwiches, obv

JaXoN (JasonD), Friday, 26 March 2004 22:57 (twenty-two years ago)

you left before the soliciting for sponserships started. Yes, fun. We should do this at a place with tables next time, though.

gygax! (gygax!), Friday, 26 March 2004 23:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes it's healthy, but it's full of carbs. You do know that, right?

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Friday, 26 March 2004 23:42 (twenty-two years ago)

carbs are an excellent source of energy if you exercise often. i do not have carb-phobia.

gygax! (gygax!), Saturday, 27 March 2004 00:41 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm not sure where all of you guys are working but, my favorite specialty's is down by the ballpark. pick up a "sammich" to go and then head across the street and walk along mccovey cove and grab a seat out on the fishing pier - heavenly.

and, during the season, they actually open the back gate of the park when the team is travelling and you can kind of walk around the empty stadium a bit and sit out behind the scoreboard in center and eat lunch.

metfigga (metfigga), Saturday, 27 March 2004 01:24 (twenty-two years ago)

two weeks pass...
Hey-I was looking for this story (Metfigga's one about Giants stadium). Is that right? Sounds great. I want to go to a Giants game!

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Monday, 12 April 2004 15:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Pacbell SBC whatever.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Monday, 12 April 2004 15:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Have any of you been to Birley's in the Embarcadero? Lovely sandwiches.

Michael White (Hereward), Monday, 12 April 2004 15:57 (twenty-one years ago)

They have a Ciao Bella in the Ferry building... *drools*

gygax! (gygax!), Monday, 12 April 2004 15:58 (twenty-one years ago)

birley's is great!

ciao bella is good, not as good as the gelato place in berkeley though. The ferry building and lulu petite (and soon, the slanted door take-out) drain my bank account every week for lunches, but it's so good I don't care.

anthony kyle monday (akmonday), Monday, 12 April 2004 16:02 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't wait, I'll be in the Ferry Building celebrating my birthday on Friday! Love everything about that place, it's now my favorite spot in all of SF. Anybody tried the Market Bar there?

And speaking of the Giants, my friend who teaches in the East Bay calls me this morning and says, you should have hot dogs for lunch today at opening day. Of course he's on Spring Break and I'm stuck at work, drag.

metfigga (metfigga), Monday, 12 April 2004 16:05 (twenty-one years ago)

I went to the oyster bar for lunch one day and sat out on the picnic tables on the bay... not too shabby. Also let this serve as a reminer that it is the last 2 weeks of oyster season!

gygax! (gygax!), Monday, 12 April 2004 16:07 (twenty-one years ago)

i had a work lunch at the market bar and thought it sucked, actually. the servings are tiny in relation to the prices, and the food wasn't very good anyway. bah.

I wish there were more places to sit down in there, they did add some tables in the back near the japanese deli, though.

anthony kyle monday (akmonday), Monday, 12 April 2004 16:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Thanks Anthony, it's crazy though, I've heard similar complaints from others who were less than impressed but still other friends have said they loved it and would definitely go back. hmmmm, I'd hate to have a poor meal there when at the other end of the building is the Slanted Door. May have to reconsider our plans.

metfigga (metfigga), Monday, 12 April 2004 16:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Ditto on the Oyster Bar, good wine too. Mistral, owned by Fabrice from Hyde St. Bistro, is a good take out place right across from Slanted Door. If you're going to the ballpark (I refuse to call it anything else these days) why not do it old style, stroll down the Embarcadero to Red's Java Hut and get a dog or a burger?

Michael White (Hereward), Monday, 12 April 2004 17:35 (twenty-one years ago)

gygax, can we have lunch at the oyster bar on april 30th? or will the season be over?

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 12 April 2004 17:42 (twenty-one years ago)

hmmm... i may be in your hood around then but that's a total cusp week. do you have an "iron constitution"?

gygax! (gygax!), Monday, 12 April 2004 17:46 (twenty-one years ago)

actually, i'll be in your hood on the 29th for a day or two. i eat oysters year round, and so far i've never had a problem (touch wood).

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 12 April 2004 18:00 (twenty-one years ago)
