Nacogdoches, yeah -- see, that's the thing, for awhile I was like "well, maybe THAT's Nackadish, because it would be pure madness to pronounce 'Natchitoches' that way!" And they're only a couple hours apart, so any time it was conceivable for someone to be from one, or to be going to one, or whatever, the other was just as logical an option.

Except Nacogdoches in TX is actually pronounced pretty much the same as it's spelt. Nachitoches -- man, when I saw that name on the closing credits of Steel Magnolias I thought, "Wow, they probably pronounce that similar to what Nacogdoches is pronounced like!" Except I found out differently several years later. I still haven't really learned what it's supposed to be pronounced like, but I will try to remember your "Nackadish" explanation since it's being really helpful. Thanks.

(Note: I'd probably spell Nacogdoches incorrectly all the damn time if there wasn't a road here in S.A. actually called Nacogdoches.)
