So why do we hear nothing about this? Anyone can allege anything, and there are lots of crazy people, so perhaps stories like this are inappropriate. Of course, the media ran with such stories during the Clinton admin but not now. Perhaps because they were more consistent with Clinton's image (character? Maybe they were true.) Perhaps because the media is really conservative. More likely because the moderate-to-liberal element in the media was cowed by conservative bullying. But someone who files a lawsuit seems more credible than someone who doesn't (Kathleen Willey, for instance).

I'm not predisposed to believe it, and others who have paid more attention say it's not necessarily credible. I'm just wondering why the media didn't run with it when they ran with similar allegations against Clinton. Maybe because there was more than one back then. Maybe the media learned their lesson, and it was Democrats' bad luck that they learned at the expense of a Democratic president.

i'd say that it was more than 'bad luck' -- unless bad luck has evolved into a confluence of events that involves millions of dollars being thrown at investigations.

The GHWB story is true, actually - verified by friends working in White House at the time.
― suzy, Friday, 17 August 2007 11:36 (eighteen years ago)
I have also heard verification of the GHWB story from family friends in DC who are probably credible.

the jennifer fitzgerald stuff is 100% credible-
To certain friends, Nancy had peddled the story of 'George and his girlfriend' that had been told to her about the evening of March 18, 1981, when some of 'the group' were having dinner at Lion d'Or in Washington, D.C. 'Suddenly there was a great commotion,' recalled one of the five dinner guests, 'as the security men accompanying the Secretary of State [Alexander Haig] and the Attorney General [Willian French Smith] converged on our table. They started jabbering into their walkie-talkies, and then whispered to Haig and Smith, who both jumped up and left the restaurant. The two men returned about forty-five minutes later, laughing their heads off. They said they had had to bail out George Bush, who'd been in a traffic accident with his girlfriend. Bush had not wanted the incident to appear on the police blotter, so he had his security men contact Haig and Smith. They took care of things for him, and then came back to dinner.

Schoedinger had accused Bush of rape and other sexual crimes against both her and her husband
Sounds like a mentally ill person. As much as I hate Bush, I don't think this is big news. Delusional people are known to make fantastical claims. Is it news? No.

Yeah, the Schoedinger thing, otoh, does NOT sound credible
