(It should be Lola Montes. I have a very vivid memory of seeing 'OooDiM' one Saturday morning at the Stevenage ABC in the 1970s.)

I grew up knowing him best with his Poirot turns, and I still think Evil Under the Sun is a brilliant confection -- Guy Hamilton directing, Cole Porter arrangements on the soundtrack, great cast and gorgeous scenery. Ustinov takes casual control of it all and has a blast.

I had no idea he wrote his scenes with Laughton in Spartacus. Enormously entertaining interview on the bonus disc.

Saw "Spartacus" just a couple of months ago! I was kinda annoyed by Ustinov/Laughton anachronistically describing Woody Strode as "the negro" - wouldn't "the Moor" or "Nubian" be more appropriate?
Nice Ustinov moment: Successfully completing the couplet "...the kind you don't bring home to mother" when prompted with "She's a very kinky girl..." during the "5 Questions" quiz on the old Craig Kilborn show.

When you look up "polymath" in the dictionary, there is a picture of Peter Ustinov.

My son is really into the Disney Robin Hood right now, which I had never seen growing up. Ustinov's Prince John characterization is wonderful.
