still not feeling well, but managed to do (some) laundry and buy (some) groceries. not having a car in l.a. can be trying sometimes; it's not so much that this place isn't designed for pedestrians, it's that every second or third person that lives here is a TOTAL FUCKING CREEP JUNKIE RAPIST SLEAZOID MURDERER PICKPOCKET BUM (while i was typing this just now i heard a girl scream*) and you can't walk down the street or wait for the bus or do anything without some freak hassling you. you're one in a million baby, etc.

I went through that when I lived in SF. Every single time I left our apartment to buy fucking Pampers at the corner store some guy on the street would make a hostile/sexual comment to me. I got to where I was having serious Death Wish fantasies.

Tonight I am slightly drunk and my husband is away, so I'm watching a DVD of the 3rd season of Nip/Tuck, which he doesn't want to watch because he says it went downhill after seasons one and two. It did. I don't care.

i got off the bus outside the ralph's on adams and vermont, and i had two options for getting to the store entrance: turn the corner where there was a group of men standing, or go left, where there was a group of women standing. i can't deal with men AT ALL lately, so i chose to walk past the group of women. except i didn't notice that there were two guys standing there also (not with the women), and right on cue, they had to make some lecherous comment.
