Fuck that noise, I bounce forever.

The time spent on trampolines was, for me, near-constant fun and rapture. I remember that if you just went swimming beforehand, bum wars became very sonically mesmerizing ("djjjchk djjchk djjchk!!!") and there were bum prints everywhere!

At a summer camp some of the older counsellors threw me in the middle and had a bounce off. All very ha ha, the kid is terrified but he has nothing to worry about - CRRRACK! - I land on the springs and my heel goes right into another kids forehead.

My other bad memories were of trying to learn flippy tricks so I could take them onto snow and losing my vision and not being able to spot landing until my shin had landed squarely on the corner metal bar.

I had a really great dog though he became a bounce junkie - I'd always jump for a bit after school and he'd always beat me to the tramp and jump on first like "Hey, you know the deal - bounce me first a bit and I'll get off." Whenever I hurt myself though he'd sense my pain and panic and jump back on to lick wherever I was rubbing.

My brother miscalculated a bounce once and landed face-first on the metal edge rail of the trampoline (a big fat metal pipe that the springs came out from).

He snapped his front tooth IN HALF. Not knocked it out - SNAPPED IT IN HALF.

I cant bear to think how painful that mustve been, I mean it looked bad enough, there was blood everywhere.

Despite all the possible injuries, trampolines are joy machines. Even Idi Amin could look joyous and innocent bouncing on a trampoline. I can't think of any other team activity where people communicate in such rapt, wide-eyed, non-verbal exuberance. It's like sex but happier and longer.
