Londoners! Fancy a pint this Saturday?

This is mainly for the benefit of anyone who didn't get the good doctor's email earlier this week, but Dr C's band Fractured will be playing the Bull & Gate in sunny Kentish Town this Saturday.

I have no idea what they sound like (although I'm guessing 'Factory') but people here have seen them before and can hopefully vouch for their excellence. But anyway, there will be beer and pool* and so forth in the pub from about 6ish, and the band should be on about 9.30. Who are Jilted John, and can we eat them?

*If you play Dr C, you will lose, but I'm sure you all knew that anyway.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 08:27 (twenty-two years ago)

ah the B&G, scene of so many triumphs and disasters...

unfortunately myself and my good friend mr tim hopkins will be making our way back from shrewsbury. we're not expected to get back into marylebone 'til gone half ten...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 08:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Er, quite possibly. I could even see if I could bring the bird along so you can all tease me, like. I have birthday drinkies in town beforehand so would obviously turn up absolutely blootered, marv. I can highly recommend bands of Dr C's though - the last gig was, ow dey say, BLUDDY GRATE!

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 08:40 (twenty-two years ago)

dunnow yet, but i put it on the calendar woo yay

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 08:46 (twenty-two years ago)

aw bless him...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 08:47 (twenty-two years ago)

you want calendar privileges don't you, i can see it in your virtual eyes

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 08:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Too many FAPs. I foretell disaster.

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 08:48 (twenty-two years ago)

you don't have to attend them all (oh the ironing)

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 08:49 (twenty-two years ago)

It's called ruin, not disaster.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 08:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Mark my words, it's all downhill from here. Let Sinister be a lesson to you...

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 08:55 (twenty-two years ago)

you miserable old bugger ;)

tom and i were just saying last night that now it's officially summer time, there nothing better than sitting in a dark boozer as often as possible :)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 08:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Now it's summer, can we start using phrases like "quit harshin' our buzz, Barry", again?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 08:58 (twenty-two years ago)

i'd love to come and defeat Dr C with Ken's Scummy Snookering Pool Playing Skeelz (tm) but unfortunately i'm going downhill to brighton this weekend to attend a sinister meetup.

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 09:01 (twenty-two years ago)

Cor that calendar thing's good innit?

** have no idea what they sound like (although I'm guessing 'Factory')**

No, that's t'other lot (wot Starry et al saw last year). This is pop-punk fun inna Buzzcockian/Jilted John stylee (I think)

**I have birthday drinkies in town beforehand so would obviously turn up absolutely blootered, marv.**

Oh do! Who's this Marv you're talking to?

Dr. C (Dr. C), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 09:12 (twenty-two years ago)

..in Gaye!

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 09:21 (twenty-two years ago)

I too can heartily recommend the good doctor's bands, but unfortunately already have a ticket for Mission Of Burma and The Playwrights that night.

Ricardo (RickyT), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 10:10 (twenty-two years ago)

um, i can't go because i'm doing a friend's birthday instead. but if any of you are near oxford street and want to go to a cheesy club, let me know...there's plenty of room at our table!

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 11:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Dude, who is your friend Colette? Is it the same as mine, I wonder?

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 11:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Are you going to Hombre?

Dave B (daveb), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 11:46 (twenty-two years ago)

It's dependent on what the missus fancies doing. Can I tell her you sound like Busted Dr C?

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 11:48 (twenty-two years ago)

we're going to 'the loop'. a club so bad that even i don't usually enjoy it.

i think i'll be drinking tequila, therefore.

are you coming to the loop starry? that'd be awesome!

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 11:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Hahaha... no, I be doubting it :)

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 11:53 (twenty-two years ago)

is the place decorated in a downtown chicago theme at least?

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 11:55 (twenty-two years ago)

nope. it's just crappy generic nightclub devoted to serving their primarily 30-something divorcee clientele.

i don't know why we go there. i think because it's free to get in, happy hour for a while and they play britney.

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 11:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Is it full of lascivious Italian tourists sticking their thumbs through their beltloops?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 11:58 (twenty-two years ago)

you really should go to Los Locos "where no-one's ugly after 2am"

I will be tucked up nice and early on Saturday

chris (chris), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 11:59 (twenty-two years ago)

i don't think there are many tourists. but it's hard to tell, everyone is so ugly.

then again, that means my friends will likely be the best looking crowd there...maybe that's the strategy: don't feel old and sad on your birthday by surrounding yourself with old, pathetic, ugly people!

colette (a2lette), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 12:03 (twenty-two years ago)

Haha, I've just recommended you do just that on the crush thread. Gah, accursed mind-meld.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 12:05 (twenty-two years ago)

**Can I tell her you sound like Busted Dr C? **

Yes! Well we have many powerchordy moments. And we jump up and down a bit.

I think you really want to come to this Tom, I can tell. The CTUSM fan within is drawing you towards the B&G. You shall not resist.

Dr. C (Dr. C), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 12:35 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh Colette, I hate the Loop so much. I have been exactly twice and the second time my friend and I left without meeting the people we were supposed to be. It was just too vile. We lied about it and said we couldn't get in and went and go pissed in good pubs and nice bars in Soho. You have my sympathy.

Anna (Anna), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 12:40 (twenty-two years ago)

You should back-comb your eyebrows for the event, Doc.

(I doubt I can make this, sorry.)

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 12:40 (twenty-two years ago)

free entry, happy hour, play britney and 30 something divorcees i still haven't read any bad points yet!

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 13:37 (twenty-two years ago)

20 something divorcees too (Britney)

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 13:38 (twenty-two years ago)

I think I will almost certainly come along to this.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 18:20 (twenty-two years ago)

If I come to this, I am now expecting Busted power-jumps. Or ELSE!!!

Super-Kate (kate), Thursday, 1 April 2004 07:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Understood.

Dr. C (Dr. C), Thursday, 1 April 2004 09:48 (twenty-two years ago)

powerjumps? so Busted's shoes actually have batteries in them??

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 1 April 2004 09:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Power-jumps to go with Power-chords.

Super-Kate (kate), Thursday, 1 April 2004 09:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I reckon I have a prior claim this Saturday on *anyone* who, like ken, is of mixed Sinister/ILE parentage :)

I mean, it's going to be SUNNY. There's a BEACH.

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 1 April 2004 09:55 (twenty-two years ago)

yay brighton! :) i might bring my guitar so i can do some major-seventh-jumps!

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 1 April 2004 09:57 (twenty-two years ago)

Off the groyne!

Madchen (Madchen), Thursday, 1 April 2004 09:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Do you promise sun, Archel? If so, I promise scones.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Thursday, 1 April 2004 09:59 (twenty-two years ago)

I may be going to Brentford, and then sleeping/ crying in a slough of despond

chris (chris), Thursday, 1 April 2004 10:06 (twenty-two years ago)

i didn't realise brentford was that close to slough...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 1 April 2004 10:09 (twenty-two years ago)

better than the desponds of Slough.

oh xpost

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 1 April 2004 10:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Brentford - Chesterfield, Chris?

Dave B (daveb), Thursday, 1 April 2004 10:40 (twenty-two years ago)

**yay brighton! :) i might bring my guitar so i can do some major-seventh-jumps!**

Ha! We're playing Brighton next Monday on the next leg of our, er...*tour*. Any Sinistah folks still hanging round on the Monday can catch us at The Pressure Point!

Dr. C (Dr. C), Thursday, 1 April 2004 10:45 (twenty-two years ago)

This is just up the road from me but, alas, I'm busy that night.

Dadaismus (Dada), Thursday, 1 April 2004 10:55 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes Dave, that be the feller, unsure about it though as every time I go the loony fringe turn up too, horses, shields, unpleasantness

chris (chris), Thursday, 1 April 2004 11:45 (twenty-two years ago)

But a pub in each corner of the ground! Including the New Inn, which is the home pub of the West London Celtic Supporters' Club and where I watched MON's first League triumph.

Dave B (daveb), Thursday, 1 April 2004 11:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Go, Chris! First two years I was in London Bristol Rovers were in the same division as Brentford, and we scored nine goals on those two visits! Hugely enjoyable! And Brentford are even worse nowadays! (Looks like they might come down to division 3 next season, which will mean an extra London fixture for Rovers, assuming we can survive in the league at all.)

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 1 April 2004 11:55 (twenty-two years ago)

and we're just as bad Martin.

It's the Burberry boys I'm more worried about, they just love a trip to London.

chris (chris), Thursday, 1 April 2004 12:08 (twenty-two years ago)

Do they still have Burberry boys then? What about Perry boys? wasn't that Man City?

Dr. C (Dr. C), Thursday, 1 April 2004 14:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Stone Island massive reprezent

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 1 April 2004 16:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Unfortunately I am in Manchester this Saturday night on my way to yet another tedious conference...

And if Shrewsbury keep playing like they did the other night, my football team will be staying in the same old tedious conference.

Pete (Pete), Thursday, 1 April 2004 16:48 (twenty-two years ago)

I am sure that you can make tedious conferences less tedious.

Really.

the beebfox, Thursday, 1 April 2004 17:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Stage time 10.00pm now

Dr. C (Dr. C), Friday, 2 April 2004 09:28 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't think I can come to this any more, as have friends up from Canterbury and they have other plans - sorry Dr C.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 2 April 2004 09:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Chris, we put six past Brentford the season we were relegated! Please help them get relegated this year, then I will have an extra London fixture to go to next year (assuming we survive)(and come on Barnet in the Conference!).

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 2 April 2004 11:48 (twenty-two years ago)
