Probably classic.

From Time magazine this week, which honored her 70th birthday with ten questions, my favorite one here:

WHAT DO YOU MEAN WHEN YOU SAY IT'S TIME TO GET MEN TO DO WHAT WOMEN TRADITIONALLY DO?

As long as working women also have to do the work of child and family care at home, they will have two jobs instead of one. Perhaps more important, children will grow up thinking that only women can be loving and nurturing and men cannot. Achieving a society in which men raise children as much as women do is crucial.

A-fucking-men.

That was my "a-fucking-men" BTW.

P.S. She still looks pretty great if you ask me.

Did she say that in 2004 or 1973?

maybe I live in a liberal neighborhood, but I know a lot of men who are involved with their children, while their wives work long days... perhaps that's a different problem, where they feel that they have to put in extra hours to prove that women are capable.. although I'm not sure that that is the correct way to prove it.

anyway, I don't see child/house care as a woman's role these days.. but then, I'm only looking in my close proximity.

Yeah, I can think of loads of examples where parenting is more or less equally shared, but I think those are generally still pretty rare in the big picture. Never mind when you look at it globally.

She's classic for the basic stuff, but her essentialism would sometimes go overboard, especially when she would criticize books/lyrics/films etc.

look-ism alert...

So is that CIA thing true or not?

Dud. The glasses, that hair. Ugh. Some man should hold the door open for that broad so it doesn't hit her on the way out.

I don't think she's worn 'the glasses' since the seventies. I hope you're joking.

Kerry (dymaxia), Wednesday, 31 March 2004 22:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Of course I'm joking.

But in earnerst, I do find her shrill and a bit one-note. She's still a dud.
