Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 1 April 2004 09:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Serious qn - does anyone know if I'm allowed to buy a second ticket in the name/address of someone who lives overseas?

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Thursday, 1 April 2004 09:54 (twenty-one years ago)

"Overseas ticket sales will be handled differently from UK ticket sales. If you are living abroad, you can only buy tickets online using a credit card."

Doesn't look like it, but if you can get through on the phone before this evening it's probably worth asking.

Madchen (Madchen), Thursday, 1 April 2004 09:58 (twenty-one years ago)

I think the best way of selling tickets is via alternative book shops. i.e how it used to be. Credit card online sales = straight to scalpers.

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 1 April 2004 10:05 (twenty-one years ago)

hippy.

but tom is living here and he is buying the tickets, it's just the other one is for (i believe) YMOF.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 1 April 2004 10:08 (twenty-one years ago)

No credit cards allowed. Only two tickets per person. Names and addresses need to be supplied for every ticket. Security is way tight this year.

Tom - from aloud.com. I *think* you can get both tickets sent to your address. Think.

Overseas ticket sales will be handled differently from UK ticket sales. If you are living abroad, you can only buy tickets online using a credit card. Tickets for overseas sales will not be sent out by post, but can be collected from an office in Shepton Mallet. Details of the collection arrangements and the checks that will be carried out will be sent to successful ticket purchasers.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 1 April 2004 10:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Tom, I think you'll be OK, but I'd ring up and check now (and be super extra clear that the person on the other end of the phone understands what you mean) if I were you.

Ricardo (RickyT), Thursday, 1 April 2004 10:23 (twenty-one years ago)

I concur nervously.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 1 April 2004 10:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm thinking about going to Oxegen instead.

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Thursday, 1 April 2004 11:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Mr F can you sent me your address details - to freakytrigger at hotmail dot com?

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Thursday, 1 April 2004 11:10 (twenty-one years ago)

There's only a recorded message currently - no human contact!

So my options are:

1) order ticket for YMOF under his address, hope it's OK.
2) order ticket for YMOF under my address, arrange 'proof of address' before June.
3) leave YMOF to dangle / trek to Shepton Mallett

I do not want to do 3 as YMOF is a top geezer.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Thursday, 1 April 2004 11:12 (twenty-one years ago)

The online form may may it clear whether or not the person is UK or not.

Pete (Pete), Thursday, 1 April 2004 11:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah.

Oi! Farrell! Give me yer mobile no. too in case I find at 8.15 PM that I can't do it and you need to do it yourself.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Thursday, 1 April 2004 11:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Not only will our subscribers have an exclusive opportunity to enter the biggest Glastonbury 2004 ticket give-away on planet earth

They'll also be emailed a direct link to the booking pages ahead of the on sale. From 8pm on Thursday April 1, they'll be able to gain direct access to the booking pages. The tickets will be just two clicks away!

toby (tsg20), Thursday, 1 April 2004 11:35 (twenty-one years ago)

i've been subscribed since last year, no secret link for me yet either.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 1 April 2004 12:08 (twenty-one years ago)

3) leave YMOF to dangle / trek to Shepton Mallett

I do not want to do 3 as YMOF is a top geezer.

I'm actually looking forward to visiting Shepton Mullet, partly because of its name, but also because it was where the BLOODY ASSIZES were held.

DV (dirtyvicar), Thursday, 1 April 2004 12:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Tracer come to Glastonbury! It will rock more than anything else you do in England, trust me.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 1 April 2004 12:31 (twenty-one years ago)

mail sent!

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 1 April 2004 12:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm mildly worried that the surge caused as 400,000 people all try to buy Glasto tickets at exactly the same time will cause not only the site, but also the entire Interweb, to break.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 1 April 2004 13:25 (twenty-one years ago)

*nods*

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 1 April 2004 13:32 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm sure that's probably way lower than the average server-load of porn.com

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 1 April 2004 13:34 (twenty-one years ago)

i'd love to see (and have) their bank statement though

1st Apr 7:59 ------ £0
1st Apr 8:00 ------ £115
1st Apr 8:01 ------ £1,149,885
1st Apr 8:02 ------ £46,000,000

!! omg!

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 1 April 2004 13:37 (twenty-one years ago)

1st Apr 8:01 ------ £1,149,885

Ken, I can't believe you worked out 9999 x 115 (or that I checked to see if 1149885 is divisible by 115)

Madchen (Madchen), Thursday, 1 April 2004 13:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Bank statements updated by the minute? What kind of sick accounting-pervert are you? I have nightmares about that sort of thing!

Super-Kate (kate), Thursday, 1 April 2004 13:39 (twenty-one years ago)

mine is listed per transaction! i had time to work out 9999 x 115 but not to press Ctrl-V 400,000 times.....

xpost haha yeah i'm sad.

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 1 April 2004 13:50 (twenty-one years ago)

ACtually, this is kind of giving me awful flashbacks to jobs I've had where I did have to work out accounts like that... especially ones where you got a whole PAGE for each transaction. They'd be brought in by truckload...

Super-Kate (kate), Thursday, 1 April 2004 13:53 (twenty-one years ago)

So Kate, are you tempted by Glasto this year?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 1 April 2004 13:58 (twenty-one years ago)

No.

Super-Kate (kate), Thursday, 1 April 2004 13:58 (twenty-one years ago)

POXY FULE IT WILL RULE COS IT ALWAYS DOES.

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Thursday, 1 April 2004 13:59 (twenty-one years ago)

OK, well there's my answer!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Thursday, 1 April 2004 14:00 (twenty-one years ago)

It's all about OXEGEN, people!!!

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Thursday, 1 April 2004 14:01 (twenty-one years ago)

taking sides: Paul McCartney vs David Bowie

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Thursday, 1 April 2004 14:02 (twenty-one years ago)

I hate Glasto. Yes, I know, I've never been. I hate festivals. I hate camping. I hate hippies. I hate music. I hate drugs. WHAT ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE COULD I POSSIBLY ENJOY?

I will never go. Not even if Busted serenade me naked from my own tent. Not even if I'm playing.... oh wait, actually, well, if I were playing, we'd get a hotel room in Shepton Mullet and I *might* consider it. But we were turned down two years ago so it will never happen.

Super-Kate (kate), Thursday, 1 April 2004 14:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I hate Glasto. Yes, I know, I've never been. I hate festivals. I hate camping. I hate hippies. I hate music. I hate drugs. WHAT ABOUT THIS EXPERIENCE COULD I POSSIBLY ENJOY?

Pear cider.

pear cider you say...

Tracer: Wings!

sarah full of pox, Thursday, 1 April 2004 14:08 (twenty-one years ago)

I can get pear cider in Wiltshire. Heck, I'm surprised that the Gr1gs0ns don't make their own!

Super-Kate (kate), Thursday, 1 April 2004 14:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, I don't like hippies but I do like camping, I like festivals, I like drugs and I kinda like music, so I'm in! Last year's Glasto was my first-ever festival and I had an amazing time. The toilet situation is SERIOUSLY DIRE, mind you.

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Thursday, 1 April 2004 14:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Nope. That's all I need to hear. Dire toilets, and I'm not going within a mile of it.

Super-Kate (kate), Thursday, 1 April 2004 14:09 (twenty-one years ago)

One year, the sluice lorries went down to do what they do, down by the accoustic tent. But they had set their nozzle things to Blow instead of Suck, and ...

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 1 April 2004 14:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha the toilet situation last year was less horrific that it's ever been. You wait and see what happens if it rains.

(xpost, yep, exactly that - except it was the dance tent. They were still pulling Ronan from the slurry three days later)

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 1 April 2004 14:12 (twenty-one years ago)

One of our regular crew managed to never use the loos for other than water passing reasons. There is some sort of diet to do this, I read about one year...

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 1 April 2004 14:13 (twenty-one years ago)

I think the lorries were there to suck the water and mud out of the tent, IIRC.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 1 April 2004 14:13 (twenty-one years ago)

(xpost myself) Yeah, anyhow whichever tent it was got closed early for health reasons. Like, anyone was going to go in the dance tent.. Hey, to get Shitfaced!! (hey I supply my own punchlines.!)

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 1 April 2004 14:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Why doesn't Eavis get on the case - some sort of local reclaimed-water system? I heard there's a festival in Sweden that also has a huge attendance but has some super-efficient, eco-friendly system that allows the toilets to actually FLUSH and stay relatively clean. Or maybe that's just because Swedes aren't as filthy as Brits.

Rob Bolton (Rob Bolton), Thursday, 1 April 2004 14:15 (twenty-one years ago)

I saw YMOF listening to that the other day, and I quite liked the track listing, despite everything. it's till TOO INDIE though.

Jaunty Alan (Alan), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 12:55 (twenty-one years ago)

VIP, motherfuckers.

g-kit (g-kit), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 13:27 (twenty-one years ago)

There is no such thing as a VIP at Glastonbury.

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 13:29 (twenty-one years ago)

i beg to differ.

g-kit (g-kit), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 13:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Very Important Pig, as promised to the author of the 1000th post, in this case a Mr Michael Jones - who won't be there it seems

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 13:36 (twenty-one years ago)

so confused. VCP?

g-kit (g-kit), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 13:39 (twenty-one years ago)

The tape player is definitely coming. I will also be drinking the perry but not in the same quantities as last year which would now surely kill me.

Ricardo (RickyT), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 13:51 (twenty-one years ago)

"Brothers Bar Triangle...DONT GO TOO NEAR"

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 13:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Several people I know got tickets this morning, after a tipoff from some joker or other.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 9 April 2004 12:06 (twenty-one years ago)

from another messageboard

"just spoke to ticket person (00441159934170)as I was getting concerned re: no confirmation email.

She said that those tickets booked today will NOT be valid and NOT be able to be rebooked, that the site was never supposed to allow tickets to be bought today!!!!

noooooo!!!!! "

!!!

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 9 April 2004 12:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Surely they will have to release more when all Matt DC's multiple bookings get cancelled?

N. (nickdastoor), Friday, 9 April 2004 12:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Matt will have to appear on the news to apologise.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 9 April 2004 12:15 (twenty-one years ago)

The Daily Mail are doing a name and shame.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 9 April 2004 12:15 (twenty-one years ago)

N. on the website it says all of matt's have already been re-allocated

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 9 April 2004 12:53 (twenty-one years ago)

After some consideration it was decided that the entire nation of Montserrat be given Matt's tickets.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 9 April 2004 12:54 (twenty-one years ago)

"Further returned tickets and duplicate orders will be absorbed by outstanding needs" - whose 'outstanding needs' are these?

N. (nickdastoor), Friday, 9 April 2004 13:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Dunno, I know a few people who did get tickets this morning though, it now transpires. They rang and checked and they're sorted.

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 9 April 2004 13:05 (twenty-one years ago)

the Express are running a full page exposing DC's ticket gluttony, he's also pictured leaving a pub in the Chancery Lane, alone, barking order into his recently acquired mobile phone.

stevem (blueski), Friday, 9 April 2004 13:14 (twenty-one years ago)

I await the Cook Report Special impatiently

"Mr DC, when are you going to stop buying tickets????"

"TICKETS? Are you 'avin a giraffe, get off my property"

"You all saw him, he hit me!"

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 9 April 2004 13:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Good of you to share that Mark!

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 9 April 2004 15:36 (twenty-one years ago)

GLASTONBURY SELLS OUT. AGAIN.

http://nme.com/news/108191.htm

stevem (blueski), Friday, 16 April 2004 15:02 (twenty-one years ago)

there was a girl on 6music earlier who was saying that she'd complained (via 6music i believe) after not getting through for 24 hours and had got one yesterday...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 16 April 2004 15:15 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm still expecting a whole bunch of tickets to go a-missing when delivery day rolls around

stevem (blueski), Friday, 16 April 2004 15:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't you have to sign for them this time?

N. (nickdastoor), Friday, 16 April 2004 16:14 (twenty-one years ago)

eleven months pass...
only kidding...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 1 April 2005 08:28 (twenty years ago)

three years pass...

au contraire but erm what it's on sale already??!??!

ILX Systern (ken c), Monday, 6 October 2008 15:52 (sixteen years ago)

yeah, it's a bit weird innit?

dog latin, Monday, 6 October 2008 15:53 (sixteen years ago)

i think the whole registration process and the way it's fraffed around every single year is what put me off the most about going to glasto (also the fact that it's now £180 for a fucking ticket)

ILX Systern (ken c), Monday, 6 October 2008 15:58 (sixteen years ago)

are they hoping that there'll be some people that'll provide their £50 deposit and forget about it/decide not to bother when the tickets go on sale for real?

that would be pretty cuntish.

ShNick (Upt0eleven), Monday, 6 October 2008 16:00 (sixteen years ago)

They're not hoping that. If you pay your deposit and then decide not to go you get £40 back.

Matt DC, Monday, 6 October 2008 16:03 (sixteen years ago)

Haha god this thread was ridiculous. I'm pretty sure we all looked a bit like the agonised stock traders on that other thread.

Matt DC, Monday, 6 October 2008 16:04 (sixteen years ago)

that's still a shitty exchange.

xpost

CharlieNo4, Monday, 6 October 2008 16:05 (sixteen years ago)

Better than nuffink. Nonetheless I can't be thinking about next year's Glastonbury when this year's wrist band isn't even moldy yet.

ShNick (Upt0eleven), Monday, 6 October 2008 16:10 (sixteen years ago)

it feels as though it's some kind of mind game, just because last year didn't sell out and they're doing this advance thing to manufacture a panic buy situation.

or maybe someone really amazing is headlining. OMG OMG OMG MAYBE I SHOULD GET A TICKET NOW EEEEEEEE!

ILX Systern (ken c), Monday, 6 October 2008 16:11 (sixteen years ago)

I remember that time I got a ticket and then didn't go. Loads of ppl without tickets were all QQ at me. That was great.

#/.'#/'@ilikecats (g-kit), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 08:02 (sixteen years ago)

Sounds like a sound business move. Hook them all now and book an all hip hop/R&B/grime bill.

what does QQ mean?

ILX Systern (ken c), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 09:34 (sixteen years ago)

are hip hop/r&b/grime acts cheaper to hire then?

ILX Systern (ken c), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 09:35 (sixteen years ago)

Depends how many dancers they bring with them.

A. FIND MISSING LINK B. PUT IT TOGETHER C. BANG! (Marcello Carlin), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 09:47 (sixteen years ago)

ILX Systern (ken c), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 10:01 (sixteen years ago)

a bushel of russets each and a pail of milk between 'em.

ShNick (Upt0eleven), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 10:02 (sixteen years ago)

QQ = ;_;

ILX Systern (ken c), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 10:06 (sixteen years ago)

ILX Systern (ken c), Tuesday, 7 October 2008 10:07 (sixteen years ago)

We don't talk about GG here.

This year's Freya seemed to be going to http://www2.seetickets.com/g2011/regform.asp?orig=uk&method=DEPOSIT on a 3G connection. Don't exactly know why the 3G bit was essential but I got into the queue on second attempt that way.

Woo!

ten years pass...

Glastonbury cancelled again, inevitably.

With great regret, we must announce that this year’s Glastonbury Festival will not take place, and that this will be another enforced fallow year for us. Tickets for this year will roll over to next year. Full statement below and on our website. Michael & Emily pic.twitter.com/SlNdwA2tHd
