Rainstorms!

I'm glad I got home when I did. The heaviest rain for all winter (such as it was) has decided to completely unleash itself over Costa Mesa for the past half hour with almost no letup, and sounds like it might continue for a while yet.

I miss southwestern rainstorms, they're just the best. Everything smells wonderful and the earth is just begging to spring to life. Here in the midwest the rain just makes a swampy smell.

Hm, well I guess this should have gone on one of the thunderstorms threads because now we've had that too. But for a while there it was just a lot of rain!

Cool, wet t shirts everywhere becaused students round here refuse to dress sensibly. I always wear my utility coat so I guess they laugh at me in summer, such as it is ever summer in Dunedin

huge thunderstorms are GREAT. there was a massive downpour last weekend when I was in RI. I was at my grandparents house playing croquet with my girlfriend, my uncle (who always wins) and my ten year old cousin Jeanette. It ruled. My other cousin, the thirteen year old, stood outside for a few minutes because she likes standing in the rain (she's going through a moody stage). When we went to go see Star Wars, my aunt had to drive her home to get a change of clothes so they were almost late. The drive was through EPIC puddles.

Lightning is cool too.

I guess I'm the only one that doesn't miss the smell of California rain.. especially during the summer. That hybrid dirt/cement/butter smell is just sickening.
