Novels of Adolescence...

... or more specifically, the end of adolescence. I'm reading Alain Fournier's "Le Grand Meaulnes" (a.k.a. The Wanderer, The Lost Domain, etc.), a masterful book that's been called the French Catcher in the Rye. It started me thinking: is there a genre name for such books?

Haruki Murakami's Norwegian Wood is a book of this type as well. They capture the otherwordly trippiness of those important years.

I'm sure there are dozens and dozens but for some reason the one that sprung to mind immediately is Walter Kirn's "Thumbsucker." Somewhat lightweight, but not bad.
