Myself and DJ Crow Atak are planning to have a picnic. I thought I'd mention it here too! I don't know who's coming, why don't you say if you are! I supose a PLAN is to meet PEOPLE at about 2pm at Loughborough Junction thameslink station, very near the BOOZE and also FOOD shop (and handy pub), then go to our local park, and drink the BOOZE and generally revel in the loveliness of it all. Lovely!

You can get there from all sorts of places like, uh, Clapham, probably Tooting, no doubt! Buses 345, 45 and 35 all call by there too! It's a bit of a walk from Brixton station, just keep walking along Coldharbour lane, and eventually you'll get there. The park is called Ruskin park. We'll be there! We'll have some shandy! Up for grabs is a can of super strength lager! I'll decide on a competition for it.... later. Any ideas? As for after picnic plans, I have not a clue. Come on kids, it's swinging London! Lets go to a rave! First one with the white gloves on can have the lager! Yeehaw.

I might well turn up. Look at me, being a party animal an' all.

Have to work out the busses (how come something which is so geographically close to us is so tube remote) but we will do our best to be there. Should we bring absinthe? mwah hah hah.

You'll probably be wanting the 133 or the 355, I imagine.

Amazingly, (1x3x3)+(3+5+5)=22.

See you there, most probably.

Tim, Thursday, 5 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

YES! Absinthe!!! We can bring some sugar, lighters and cups for it. ABSINTHE it is the drink of joy!

Now, bus joy!

Kate, if you're Tooting, Tooting thameslink? Never been there but if you've got any clue, I think you can hop along a few stops to Luffbra junction. If you can figure how to get to Clapham, yer sorted. The 133 will take you to Brixton station and its walkable/busable easily enough from there, as seems also, the 355. Tim, you genius. (incidentally, the western swing IS great!)

We are going to have a competition. The loser has to drink the super strength lager. AHAHAHA!

Glad you like it.

"Down at the O-H-I-O" by Milton Brown and his Musical Brownies has been the best song in the world for three days running now, primarily for the bit where he (Milton?) sings "Awww piano piano piano piano piano piano piano piano piano piano piano piano piano pian-eye-o". Brilliant.

I fully intend on playing the highlights from the section in my early set. The "stomps" are quite good too. I'll have a quick run through tonight!

See Tom, Steve, you knew it was a good idea to let me DJ!

That sale took £45 off me. CHUFFING, HECK.

Given that massive thunderstorms are looking likely all this weekend might I suggest that you all remove to a nearby tavern?

Emma, Friday, 6 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

No: it's OK. Pete just told me it's fine if you stand under a big oak tree.

I am really sorry but I'm going to have to give my regrets just for this picnic. Lig-radar kicked in and I got given free tix for Radiohead so we're going back to Oxford. Oh dear. Will bring the big bottle of absinthe to the ILE meetup picnic, honest.

VITAL PICNIC MESSAGE FROM SARAH:

(via the medium of the telephone = classic)

It's raining and it's likely to keep raining. SO. Instead of a picnic people are going to a pub - The Goose on Brixton High Street, apparently. From about 2. Come along!

Tom, Saturday, 7 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Ewing: are you going to said pub too?

the pinefox, Saturday, 7 July 2001 00:00 (twenty-three years ago) link

Well, I got up at 2, so apologies for my absence.
