I just created an 'I Love New York' board. I'm a big fan of the 'I Love Baseball' and 'I Love Music' boards too. Who else checks out other boards on ilXor?

New Haven's nice as well, I'm told.

Casiopea's version of "I Love New York" gets no love.

Well, I shuffled through the city on the 4th of July
I had a firecracker waiting to blow
Breakin' like a rocket who makin' its way
To the cities of Mexico
Lived in an apartment out on Avenue A
I had a tar-hut on the corner of 10th
Had myself a lover who was finer than gold
But I've broken up and busted up since

And love don't play any games with me
Anymore like she did before
The world won't wait, so I better shake
That thing right out there through the door
Hell, I still love you, New York

Found myself a picture that would fit in the folds
Of my wallet and it stayed pretty good
Still amazed I didn't lose it on the roof of the place
When I was drunk and I was thinking of you
Every day the children they were singing their tune
Out on the streets and you could hear from inside
Used to take the subway up to Houston and 3rd
I would wait for you and I'd try to hide

And love won't play any games with you
Anymore if you don't want 'em to
The world won't wait and I watched you shake
But honey, I don't blame you
Hell, I still love you, New York
Hell, I still love you, New York
New York

I remember Christmas in the blistering cold
In a church on the upper west side
Babe, I stood their singing, I was holding your arm
You were holding my trust like a child
Found a lot of trouble out on Avenue B
But I tried to keep the overhead low
Farewell to the city and the love of my life
At least we left before we had to go

And love won't play any games with you
Anymore if you don't want 'em to
So we better shake this old thing out the door
I'll always be thinkin' of you
I'll always love you though New York
I'll always love you though New York, New York, New York

..., Friday, 2 April 2004 23:31 (twenty-one years ago)

That guy's a tool.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 2 April 2004 23:31 (twenty-one years ago)

why?

Ed (dali), Saturday, 3 April 2004 16:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah. New York is great but it seems like I've only really seen Chelsea, and that's not my fault. My mom always has us stay at that hotel. I like it there but I'd like to saty at other hotels too.

I've only been to New York four times, or was it five. I'm not too sure. One time my dad took me there and I think we stayed for two days and then we went back to Maryland. I don't remember why we went there.

Oh, I stayed at the Chelsea when I was with my dad too.

Aja (aja), Saturday, 3 April 2004 16:38 (twenty-one years ago)

on canal street in april when its 60 and the snow is melting fast
it's still shady in the morning when you're laughing in your t-shirt on the grass
the talk in square park, a couple is meeting
say what you want but I feel my heart beating
cause I love springtime in new york
springtime in new york I do

springtime in new york when it's may and the leaves are on the trees
when demolishing a building brings the smell of 1890 to the breeze
on first avenue our couple is fighting
springtime is wild, new york is exciting
and I love springtime in new york
springtime in new york I do

well springtime in new york, in thirty days will come the sticky summer nights
and if you've been in new york city in july you know when I say sticky I'm right
on first avenue our couple is breaking up
evicted too, they must be shaken up
but I love springtime in new york
springtime in new york I do
springtime in new york
springtime in new york I do

Much better.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 3 April 2004 16:58 (twenty-one years ago)

it ain't philly, but it'll do in a pinch ;-p

Eisbär (llamasfur), Saturday, 3 April 2004 17:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, they both ain't Baltimore.

Yeah, whatever. You like what you like.

Aja (aja), Saturday, 3 April 2004 17:03 (twenty-one years ago)

where would you be more likely to see dave grohl walking down the street? surely, THAT is the most important question for you aja?

Eisbär (llamasfur), Saturday, 3 April 2004 17:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd rather eat a piping hot bowl of rhino bile than live in Philly. And yes, I've been there.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 3 April 2004 17:05 (twenty-one years ago)

I do like the Electric Factory, tho', I'll say that in the city's otherwise lamentable defense.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 3 April 2004 17:05 (twenty-one years ago)

where would you be more likely to see dave grohl walking down the street? surely, THAT is the most important question for you aja?

Umm, near my cousins' house? I don't know, and that doesn't really matter. If I see him, I see him. He does have an appartment in NY though.

I just would rather live somewhere in Maryland. I think I'd try to find a place near Chesepeak Bay. I've grown acustom to living near a bay or just any body of water. I like it.

"Thank you, glad you could all be here for the CMJ keynote address. Now more than ever, independent music is the way forward!"

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 3 April 2004 17:42 (twenty-one years ago)

NO. WAY. OUT. BUT. FORWARD. GO!

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 3 April 2004 17:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes that's great. But remember, they were only able to play ten songs at that show.

They played I think, was it, 17 in SF! I bet if I had yelled "Eighties" at Raven like I had yelled "Kings & Queens", they would have played it.

Aja (aja), Saturday, 3 April 2004 17:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't hold your breath waiting for "Eighties", Aja.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 3 April 2004 17:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey, I'm not the one who wants to hear "Eightes"

Aja (aja), Saturday, 3 April 2004 17:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, my God!!

I said "Eightes"!! What the Hell is that?!!

"Eighties", "Eighties" a much better song than "Eightes"

Yeah. New York is great but it seems like I've only really seen Chelsea, and that's not my fault. My mom always has us stay at that hotel.

Well... you did get a chance to see the East Village, Greenwich Village, Chinatown and Times Square when I took you there.

I like it there but I'd like to saty at other hotels too.

The Chelsea is a cool place to stay but I hear you

One time my dad took me there and I think we stayed for two days and then we went back to Maryland. I don't remember why we went there.
We went to New York as a side trip when we went to visit our family in Maryland... your uncle was sick and died shortly after we returned to California.

Oh, I stayed at the Chelsea when I was with my dad too.
I originally took you there to show you the place where I stayed before I got my first apartment in the city. I stayed there a month. I think it cost me a little less than $900 for a month. This was back in 1985 or so. The room was a little ratty but fairly large. I think it was on the second floor. I don't believe it was the room where Sid killed Nancy but it could have been.

Roman (Roman), Sunday, 4 April 2004 12:36 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't believe it was the room where Sid killed Nancy but it could have been.

No. It couldn't have been. That room no longer exists. It's just a bunch of bricks now.

Aja (aja), Sunday, 4 April 2004 13:13 (twenty-one years ago)

No it's not. They just scrambled the numbers. Don't believe the hype.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Sunday, 4 April 2004 14:51 (twenty-one years ago)

for a minute i thought ronan had taken aja on an ill-advised jaunt.

Ask For Samantha (thatgirl), Sunday, 4 April 2004 14:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, I don't care about the room any way. One of my mom's friends asked and that was the answer.

But the number scrambleing is a good point. The room we stayed in last time, in January, had its numbers changed. You could see what the old number was and my mom thought the same as you Alex.

for a minute i thought ronan had taken aja on an ill-advised jaunt.

That's my dad.

Aja (aja), Sunday, 4 April 2004 14:57 (twenty-one years ago)

yes aja, i realize that.

Ask For Samantha (thatgirl), Sunday, 4 April 2004 15:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Good for you.

Aja (aja), Sunday, 4 April 2004 15:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I like living in hotels.

Roman (Roman), Monday, 5 April 2004 15:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I like New York in June,
How about you?
I like a Gershwin tune,
How about you?
I love a fireside
When a storm is due.
How about you?
I like potato chips,
Moonlight
And motor trips,
How about you?

I'm mad about good books,
Can't get my fill,
And Franklin Roosevelt's looks
Give me a thrill.
Holding hands
At the movie show,
When all the lights are low
May not be new,
But I like it,
How about you?

I like Jack Benny's jokes.
To a degree.
I love the common folks.
That includes me.
I like to window shop
On 5th Avenue.
I like banana splits,
Late supper at the Ritz,
How about you?

I love to dream of fame,
Maybe I'll shine.
I'd love to see your name
Right beside mine.
I can see
We're in harmony
Looks like we both agree
On what to do,
And I like it,
How about you?

How About You?

gareth (gareth), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 11:43 (twenty-one years ago)

New York is great. If I move to America, I'm gonna live there, no question.

Johnney B (Johnney B), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 11:53 (twenty-one years ago)

three years pass...

I was hoping this was going to be about the VH1 show, which I love in a surprising fashion.

Midget Mac is my favorite. I hope he wins.
