I went down for a dime today

Isn't it funny, what we'll bend over for? Saw 10 cents on the sidewalk and picked it up. I know it won't get me too far, but it is money. Folks shouldn't just leave it laying around. Should they?

jim wentworth (wench), Sunday, 4 April 2004 04:17 (twenty-one years ago)

I saw a nickel near a sewer grate and passed it by.
I think my minimum is a quarter.

57 7th (calstars), Sunday, 4 April 2004 04:19 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought this thread was about cheap blow jobs. Pity.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 4 April 2004 10:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Find a penny, pick it up.
ANd all day you'll have good luck.

Johnney B, Sunday, 4 April 2004 11:04 (twenty-one years ago)

There's a penny glued to the pavement at the top of my road.

I don't bother picking up 1,2 or 5p pieces.

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 4 April 2004 11:46 (twenty-one years ago)

i thought it was about getting busted for small amounts of drugs.

Ask For Samantha (thatgirl), Sunday, 4 April 2004 15:10 (twenty-one years ago)

I've seen homeless people in Oxford lifting the metal grills over drains and then rooting about in the sludge underneath to see what money has fallen down there.

MarkH (MarkH), Sunday, 4 April 2004 15:16 (twenty-one years ago)

"Which one gave you ten cents?"
"They all did."

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Sunday, 4 April 2004 15:21 (twenty-one years ago)

haha. I thought it was about blowjobs too.

mouse, Sunday, 4 April 2004 18:23 (twenty-one years ago)

haha rosemary classic!

s1ocki (slutsky), Sunday, 4 April 2004 18:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I saw 6-7 pennies scattered on the ground outside my post office. I thought for a moment about grabbing them, but the thought of doing that sort of depressed me.

Gear! (Gear!), Sunday, 4 April 2004 19:06 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm a compulsive coin-grabber, in part because I believe on some level that if I can bend over to pick up a coin without falling over or throwing out my back, I'm not that decrepit/obese/old. Those of you who have met me will understand there is a certain self-delusion in this attitude.

j.lu (j.lu), Sunday, 4 April 2004 19:10 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't imagine not stopping to pick up any denomination! It's money!

teeny (teeny), Sunday, 4 April 2004 20:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I thought it meant he put $1000 on the Pacers.

Broheems (diamond), Sunday, 4 April 2004 20:54 (twenty-one years ago)

if phil two gives me a dime i might give him a blowjob

(digression)

ken c (ken c), Sunday, 4 April 2004 21:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Does anyone else throw pennies away? I'm not rich or anything, but if I don't expel them from my home they start multiplying like bunny rabbits. All over the floor, on tables and countertops, between cusions, on top of books and CDs and papers... I HATE PENNIES!!!11

Aaron A., Sunday, 4 April 2004 21:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I save them for a rainy day.

stockholm cindy (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 4 April 2004 21:01 (twenty-one years ago)

Every time I go out I make sure I have at least 4 pennies in my pocket, so I can give the clerk exact change. Well, maybe not exact change, but the proper amount of pennies to ensure that I will get NO PENNIES BACK.

Yet somehow I still have tons of them.

Broheems (diamond), Sunday, 4 April 2004 21:05 (twenty-one years ago)

mr teeny throws out pennies and it DRIVES ME INSANE.

teeny (teeny), Sunday, 4 April 2004 21:16 (twenty-one years ago)

like as he's parading past the townspeople?

oops (Oops), Sunday, 4 April 2004 21:19 (twenty-one years ago)

it wouldn't surprise me.

teeny (teeny), Sunday, 4 April 2004 21:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I was thinking the same thing that Sam was.

However I always pick up found money of any denomination.

suzy (suzy), Sunday, 4 April 2004 21:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Most of the small retailers have a penny collection on the checkout counter. It makes sense. If you're left with a couple, you can put them in there. If you need a couple, The clerk will usually put in what you need, or you can do it. I guess the big chain stores haven't heard of this system.

Pennies have really become useless, if you ask me. And the govt, in its infinite wisdom, keeps churnin' em out.

BTW, sorry for the misconstrued thread title.

jim wentworth (wench), Monday, 5 April 2004 00:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, people (including me) are resistant to the idea of rounding prices up to the next 5 or 10 cents. And Broheems OTM; I like being able to pay exact change, or change specific enough to get back no pennies.

j.lu (j.lu), Monday, 5 April 2004 01:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Tyrone Biggums to thread

Donna Brown (Donna Brown), Monday, 5 April 2004 02:56 (twenty-one years ago)

The entire surface of my bedside table is covered with 5 cent pieces (the smallest Australian coinage). I like building up a collection, and then blowing 116 of them on a daily tram ticket.

Andrew (enneff), Monday, 5 April 2004 03:10 (twenty-one years ago)

(Australia wisely cast out the nigh-on useless 1- and 2-cent coins many years ago.)

Andrew (enneff), Monday, 5 April 2004 03:11 (twenty-one years ago)

from the title i thought this was going to be lurid confession of giving head for a dime bag.

I found a shiny quarter in the grate and bought a Wonka bar and now the Oompah Loompahs are singing a song for me!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 5 April 2004 18:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I keep all my change in a mason jar. It looks pretty. And when I get enough change, I buy those coin-roller jobbies and I roll coins. And then lug the stuff to the bank. Cha-ching!

Jeanne Fury (Jeanne Fury), Monday, 5 April 2004 18:40 (twenty-one years ago)

jeanne have you tried coinstar?

Ask For Samantha (thatgirl), Monday, 5 April 2004 18:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't they charge you a percentage? I actually kind of like rolling coins. It's rewarding and easy and I can do it while watching Law & Order reruns.

Jeanne Fury (Jeanne Fury), Monday, 5 April 2004 18:50 (twenty-one years ago)

a little bit. but it's fun watching them all go in and tally up.
