Lychees sound like a massive pain to grow (two years as a seedling before producing fruit? wow).

What do they taste like?

miloauckerman (miloauckerman), Monday, 5 April 2004 06:36 (twenty-two years ago)

god that sounds wonderful

lychees taste like peeled grapes w/heavier nectar and a more rounded sweetness, they're magnificent

Matos W.K. (M Matos), Monday, 5 April 2004 06:36 (twenty-two years ago)

My current fave smoothie is

Ice.
Banana.
Lime Juice.
Orange Juice.
Passion Fruit.
Bio Yogurt.

A lychee smoothie sounds ace.

Thousands upon thousands of innocent children in lost their limbs in Sierra Leone so you people could have your lychees. Pour a little smoothie out next time.

LC, Monday, 5 April 2004 08:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Makes it taste sweeter...

Jarlr'mai (jarlrmai), Monday, 5 April 2004 09:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Our daily smoothie:

A combination of banana, nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla milk, yoghurt etc etc.

jesus nathalie (nathalie), Monday, 5 April 2004 10:03 (twenty-two years ago)

What are we talking here - just lychees and nothing else?

To be honest, I think the UK has adopted the word 'smoothie' in recent years without any real concept of what it is. How is it different from 'juice'?

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 5 April 2004 10:49 (twenty-two years ago)

A smoothie contains the whole fruit rather than just the juice it has a thicker consistancy, a smoothie may also contain yoghurt.

Jarlr'mai (jarlrmai), Monday, 5 April 2004 12:57 (twenty-two years ago)

The word is really starting to get on my nerves. Can you all stop using it, please?

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 5 April 2004 13:12 (twenty-two years ago)

bastards

Jarlr'mai (jarlrmai), Monday, 5 April 2004 14:08 (twenty-two years ago)

one year passes...
Anyone recommend a recipe for a lychee smoothie?

This is the only one I could find on-line, and I usually make smoothies with fruit juice.

"As many lychees as you have on hand
Crushed ice
Sugar to taste

Peel the lychees and remove the seeds. Remove the brown spots also if you want to. Add the sugar and stir until dissolved.

Combine with about equal parts of ice and mix thoroughly in a blender or food processor, pour into tall glasses (add a mint sprig if you like) and serve."

I wanna have a smoothie machine. Does it even exist?

Nathalie (stevie nixed), Saturday, 31 December 2005 12:27 (twenty years ago)

Aren't they called blenders?

stevo (stevo), Saturday, 31 December 2005 13:46 (twenty years ago)

Oh of course. Duh.
