After nearly 10 months without steady work, I begin a new job on the 19th of this month (which is also my mom's birthday). Coincidentally, the corporation I used to work for announced 12,500 layoffs today. Karma's a bitch.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Monday, 5 April 2004 21:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Congrats, Stence! (giving you a high five) Tis definitely one in the eye for the wretches that caused you grief.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 5 April 2004 21:08 (twenty-one years ago)

actual publication I'll be working for:

hstencil, Monday, 5 April 2004 21:11 (twenty-one years ago)

well, despite gainful employment during the tail end of his administration, I'm still not voting for Bush.

You're too smart for that (despite being part of the employed .0001%). He'll just take 25% of your paycheck in taxes anyway.

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 5 April 2004 21:11 (twenty-one years ago)

exciting, and I hope I get promos.

hstencil, Monday, 5 April 2004 21:11 (twenty-one years ago)

congrats!

Matos W.K. (M Matos), Monday, 5 April 2004 21:12 (twenty-one years ago)

What's the Chemical Market Reporter actually report? Is it a scientific version of Consumer Reports?

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 5 April 2004 21:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Congrats, Hstencil! Hope it goes well for ya...

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 5 April 2004 21:17 (twenty-one years ago)

xpost to Nichole: it's more about market pricing, company transactions, etc., etc. Not really much use for the lay reader or anyone outside of the chem/petrochemical/pharmaceutical industries.

hstencil, Monday, 5 April 2004 21:18 (twenty-one years ago)

HOORAH STENCE

teeny (teeny), Monday, 5 April 2004 21:22 (twenty-one years ago)

gygax! (gygax!), Monday, 5 April 2004 21:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Was wondering, as the title seemed like I could flip through it to find out the cheapest vendor of plutonium and say, arsenic.

(xpost)

(Hola, T!)

Nichole Graham (Nichole Graham), Monday, 5 April 2004 21:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Hurrah for Stence!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 5 April 2004 21:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Mary (Mary), Monday, 5 April 2004 22:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Congrats stencil!

Aaron W (Aaron W), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 02:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Mary, a friend of mine works there and told me about the open position. If you're still looking, I'll try to find out if they're hiring for other positions as well. Seems like a good place to work.

hstencil, Tuesday, 6 April 2004 19:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Hooray for hstencil!!! I am very happy for you!

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 20:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Let's all get jobs there and turn Chemical Market Reporter into the long-awaited print companion to ILE.

N. (nickdastoor), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 20:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Eisbär (llamasfur), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 21:06 (twenty-one years ago)

If I'd gotten to this thread earlier, my "Is it International Male?" joke would have been timely and killer.

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 6 April 2004 21:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Jane's Defence Weekly is a wicked magazine.

Their yearbooks are the military equivalent to the Sears Wishbook. My dad gave me one when I was about 15 and I thought it was the best thing ever.

earlnash, Tuesday, 6 April 2004 21:27 (twenty-one years ago)

I am still looking -- let me know if they launch a fashion supplement.

Mary (Mary), Wednesday, 7 April 2004 01:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Woop woop!
